Description RWBY "JUNE" Challenge Day 11

'Least Favourite Pairing'

................................................

I'm afraid this is one I just can't stand. Its the whole set up and the way Weiss is made to look bad and an 'Ice Queen' just because she isn't interested in Jaune and Jaune doesn't take no for an answer and all her friends support him, in ignoring her clear refusal. Honestly the way it's written, makes Jaune look like a stalker...
I hope this gets laid to rest now, I think it was supposed to be funny but didn't come across that way.

I love Weiss' diefferent expressions through out the series, so this was fun to draw!

I actually like this pairing and the characters. Hell, both characters are my favorite in RWBY.

For Jaune, I like him because of his flaws. I find him the most "human" out of all the characters. He has made stupid mistakes, but he is learning from them. He is nowhere near his friends' levels, but he is working damn hard to fix that. To see him grow in both maturity, strength, and skill so he can walk among his friends as equals in the world of hunters and huntresses is pretty cool. he is a nice, adorkable kid that is working hard and learning. Doing his best to be the great leader JNPR deserves. An Average Joe doing his best to become great.

For Weiss, I like her because of her flaws also, but different. Being the "loneliest of them all," I am sure that she did not made much on healthy social interactions with people. Thanks to her upbringing, her first interactions with her teammates/friends could have gone better. And I can't fault her for that. Dealing with anti-human terrorist and being the future leader of a powerful company can put some serious stress and a different perspective compared to others. But deep inside, she is a sweet girl that is having her cold shell melt.

Of course, this doesn't reflect my thoughts on people who like this ship or the characters, everyone is free to enjoy what they do and everyone takes to a character for their own reasons. My favourite characters are villians, afterall ! No redemption there.

I can understand that. I think that I would find Jaune a lot less irritating if he didnt have the main story focus and the most screen time. In Vol 1, I wasnt a fan of him but I didn't give him much thought, he was pretty harmless, a character type I'd seen way too many times before but it was a fresh new series.
In Vol 2 I and I think many others just got fed up with him, mostly because of his behaviour towards Weiss, or rather the way it was written for him to act. It is realistic as you say, I agree, but I find it unfortuante that it is, as it's not a very respectful way to treat women and after listening to a lot of girls opinions on this matter, can totally see where they are coming from.

But he is a character and hopefully these flaws will change and he gets a bit more of a unique role to play. I would rather him not become as 'strong' or rather proficient in fighting as the others so quickly, I'd find it more realistic that he struggles to catch up as he doesn't have the training they do. But this can mean he can discover to use other strengths of his own.

As for Weiss I agree, I like how she has grown a lot. She is much warmer to people now and is visibly trying to be more friendly and kind. She probably had a very sheltered and different upbringing which skewed her view on faunus very much but she is realising that The White Fang doesnt = Faunus. I'd like to see her interact more with other faunus characters like Velvet perhaps. Also she seems to accept that her family company have become tainted and have abused faunus and seems to want to rectify that which I like a lot about her.

To be fair for Jaune, his father probably told him that women like confidence, but he has not told Jaune about moderation and space. And he kind of showed arrogance instead confidence, poor guy doesn't know the difference. I also kind of think that Weiss probably should have given him a bit of a talk and she kind of mistaken for him only caring for her last name, not that I blame her. Look Jaune, just be her friend first and develop the friendship. Don't go straight ahead and bother her. I know a couple of guys and girls that have done similar things, it does not work. Just be yourself, man. If Weiss is interested, awesome. If not, there is a lot of women out there and you are still young. You don't need to rush into a romantic relationship. Is the majority his fault? Most likely. is all of it his fault? Nope.

Him convincing Neptune to go with Weiss and coming to dance in dress is pretty sweet of him.Β

I will also say that I find Weiss as one most beautifully designed characters in the show. I am also a sucker for fencing users. When I saw her on the White trailer, I automatically labeled her as my favorite character, no excuses. Count Dooku is my favorite Sith Lord.

mercurialfox In reply to TheHappyVampire [2015-10-21 10:11:34 +0000 UTC]

It would have been interesting if they had gone down that route, it would give an explaination to Jaune's poor choices on how to treat women and even better would be, if one of his friends decided to talk to him and make him realise, "actually dude, thats not a decent way to treat Weiss". (Preferably Ruby as she may be childlike but is wise beyond her years sometimes. And I think she would stick up for Weiss). He could then come to terms with the fact that he hadnt been acting all that great, so he apologises to Weiss and they actually start to become friends through it. Weiss learns to forgive a person for their flaws and Jaune realises that being Weiss' friend is easy, he should never have listened to his dad's advice, he has lots of sisters who he grew up with, he should learn from them. Weiss isn't interested in him romanticaly but they become really good friends.

And then Weiss could help Jaune to better improve his tactical skills, Jaune becomes more focused on being the team leader he should be, watching how his team fights and learns their strengths and weaknesses so that he knows how to plan a fight and lead the team to a win. He doesn't need to learn to fight like Pyrrha, he would never be able to either. He has his own strength to add to the team.

That would have been so much more interesting than the dance fiasco !lol And I think Jaune would win more fans like that.

The Neptune bit was a bit odd still as he seemed to respect that Neptune liked Weiss and backed off only then, but didnt listen when Weiss said no herself. He seemed to respect Neptune alot more and was nice to Neptune. The two could probably be very good friends.

But I hope that thats all done and dusted and the characters mature alot more now?!

Weiss is gorgeous, no doubt. And her fighting style is very cool and suits her really well. You know, thats another thing, Weiss could also help teach Jaune to fight a bit, they both use swords, and probably Jaune would need to find his own style.

Although right now I want to see the focus on Team RWBY and to get to know the reat of Team NPR.

Hooray for positive discussion!

Which makes me wonder, where the hell were the mother and sisters when Papa Arc started giving Jaune "advice"? Did it actually worked on Mama Arc?Β

Good friend. Girlfriend. Either way, Weiss has potential of being a good teacher for Jaune. Though I am a bit skeptical on people saying that he is slacking off to go out with Weiss. For all we know, Jaune using his free time, time after class and assignments, to gain Weiss' interests. I doubt the majority of students consider Port's stories worth listening. Though I would definitely listen to them.

I think the scene with Pyrrha and Weiss' happiness made him let Neptune dance with Weiss. I don't think Jaune respects Neptune more than Weiss, I think Jaune fallen really hard on her and that clouded his judgement. That can happen to anyone, man or woman. Even after the dance, I doubt Jaune's feeling for Weiss are gone, feelings like that don't go away in just a day or two. But he will be a friend and give her space.

Weiss helping Jaune's combat ability could be fun. Though I doubt he is built for something like fencing.

I agree, I like Jaune, but I want to see more character development with the others.

He really is, its like they want you to feel sorry for him so badly. But why ? He is kind of an asshole. Just because the writers want him to be loved and love him themselves doesnt make him a good or interesting character. He is a bore.

If I can share my opinion on this I hope in the third volume they would focus on other character's than other than, jaune because if you think about it jaune is character who has the most screen time then any one else especially from Ruby Rose who is the main character.

mercurialfox In reply to bninja1994 [2015-10-04 09:01:19 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely, I completely agree. Actually this is the reason I drew Ruby for the previous in this series "Favourite Underated Character" !
I really want to learn about the other characters and so much less about Jaune. He is one of the only RWBY characters I really dont find interesting and yet he has the most screentime.

bninja1994 In reply to mercurialfox [2015-10-05 03:05:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I'm not one hundred percent sure on this but a huge part of the fandom do hate jaune character because of that fact, and personally I can understand why I certainly don't like jaune all that much too. Hopefully writers realize this and put more effort in developing other character especially main freaking character enough of favouritism for Jaune.

Yeh I can understand why, I used to not really like Jaune much in Vol 1 but he didnt bother me that much but after Vol 2 I just hate his character now. The writiers have ruined him I think.
I really hope that they do now, also stop introducing new characters, we get it, its fun but it makes every character meaningless as they just get a cool introduction but after that you dont get to learn anything about them. Which is why we still barely know anything about team RWBY or team JNPR (Except Jaune of course...)

Also the villain Cinder and her henchman never really came off as a major threat to the heroes because of how vague the writers are with them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mercurialfox In reply to bruiser128 [2015-11-02 10:32:45 +0000 UTC]

This is very true. They are so vague that you cant take them seriously. I like Cinder a lot, but I want to see her being evil not just seeing her with evil sounding music in the background. I have hopes for this season though.

bruiser128 In reply to mercurialfox [2015-11-02 11:27:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I mean seriously Cardin freaking Winchester

Haha oh man. He seems to have acted more villianously so far. I mean he was actually mean to people. Cinder, do something! I want her to be bad so badly haha.

Neo is amazing. Shes had such little screen time but is so damn cool. Roman and Neo are by far the best antagonists here. I really like their charcters and style.

bruiser128 In reply to mercurialfox [2015-11-02 14:23:35 +0000 UTC]

I remember saying the same thing when it came to Ren, sinceΒ
he didn't really any serve any purpose outside of demonstratingΒ
aura and being awkward fanservice.

Because of how lame Cinder is, I think she deserves an equally lame
demise: being covered in fire resistant foam.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mercurialfox In reply to bruiser128 [2015-11-15 12:34:49 +0000 UTC]

I'm ok with Ren, but I think they should give him and Nora a whole bunch more screen time and backstory as I think they could be interesting characters given half a chance. Its true that most of the characters have just been there for fanservice of some sort as they get aΒ  cool short introduction and then are left and it makes them feel empty and pointless. I think again, the show needs less introduction of new characters and a chance to get to know all of the ones we already have.

Haha omg. Thats one way to go for Cinder I dont hate her, I just hope that she becomes a good villian (like not a good person but an interesting villian with actual motive and shit) but the longer it goes on the less threatenting and interesting she seems...she is...lame atm. There I said it lol. Which sucks. But again there is the talk of this season being more 'sinister'. It may be an empty promise but it looks as though Cindy is doing something/going to do something.

Though I admit thats what its looked like for some time with not much to show for it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bruiser128 In reply to mercurialfox [2015-11-15 13:13:29 +0000 UTC]

That's what I have been saying as well, but people like my brother say
that the only important thing for the show is to showoff the diversity
weapons combos and characters.

For Cinder I agree she is now turning lame at this point just sitting around
looking bewitching and doing nothing of interest for the viewer. I mean aΒ
WAY better method of introducing her would have been for Roman to get
captured at the docks, and at the police station she blows it up in a way that
looks like a gas explosion. DEFINITELY would have shown how dangerous she
is to the heroes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mercurialfox In reply to bruiser128 [2015-11-21 12:00:57 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. Well if thats the only thing thats important then RWBY would be better off just being a video game I think. An actual story requires plot, character backgrounds, logic, decent writing skills ! Jus to name a few. And preferably a decent moral that makes sense...

Cinder does need to show how dangerous she can be, it would be neat to see her get Roman out, but I dont think she will do it like that, unfortunately. Although, before that happens I think we will see what it is Roman is supposed to be doing in prison, whatever mission she has given him. Because we dont get any answers!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bruiser128 In reply to mercurialfox [2015-11-21 12:17:05 +0000 UTC]

Well given an episode length time it is hard to pack in plot in a
fluid and understandable manner. Although the pacing is atrocious,
seriously it would make more sense if volume THREE was the start of
their second semester.

Well one theory is that Cinder's virus is going to go all skynet on the robot
with Penny leading them. If that is the case, then it would confirm how inept
the writers really are.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mercurialfox In reply to bruiser128 [2015-11-21 12:28:28 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely, the amount of time they are just isnt enough to pack in all that is needed. Especially when their priorities are not the best...Vol 2 Im looking at you.
And you're right, so far vol 3 does seem to fitΒ  alot better as the start of their second semester..Im still unsure of the timelines tbh..

Yeh, it feels like thats the path it is taking but its hope its not so obvious -_- Or poor.

I feel like its always ' well lets wait and see and hope its better' lol..
But I do enjoy RWBY, its just it seems like it has much more potential.

bruiser128 In reply to mercurialfox [2015-11-21 13:46:32 +0000 UTC]

I honestly think that they are looking into to much what Monty Oum wanted for
the series,Β and not enough on what would make for a good plot within the universe.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mercurialfox In reply to bruiser128 [2015-11-24 12:37:36 +0000 UTC]

That could be true. It is important to listen to the audience and make some changes if needed for an on going series. But it is a tough one what with losing Monty and wanting to keep respectful to his vision. I think that Vol 3 will be trying and perhaps it will take a little while to settle into a new rhythm. But perhaps they will learn to listen to some critique too and grow as writers.

bruiser128 In reply to mercurialfox [2015-11-24 12:48:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeh it is annoying. There is no real threat anywhere, just being told of these ominus things but nothing concrete to back it up. Every villian so far has either been easy to defeat of not been shown their true power due to 'plot'. I was really disapointed at how the breach was dealt with. I think they ran out of time so had to come to a quick and easy conclusion..
