If only for his gratuitous use of the phrase "My Love" to the point of obnoxiousness. It's like the dude is trying to be all brooding and badass, when all he really is, is just a giant tool who can fight real good.

Guess I'm one of the few who actually likes Adam. I want him to be further developed in future volumes. And I REALLY don't want him killed by anyone in team RWBY or team JNPR because killing him just makes them as bad or worse, because they are killing out of revenge while as warped as his sense or right and wrong might be he THINKS he is doing the right thing where as they would KNOW they aren't.
I want to see what drove him to his hatred of humanity, was it just the abuse of faunus? Does his hatred extend to humans who sympathies with faunus and the other way around? In the end I want him to be taken out by a bigger bad just after getting a moment to realise he was wrong, that faunus and humans can live in peace so he can die knowing that Blake will carry on the dream of the white fang, their original dream.

Sorry for replying so late. I'm afraid you may be one of the few there! But thats cool, theres nothing wrong in liking villians. Throughout RWBY Ive questioned the 'good guys' morals in comparrison to the'bad guys' actually, so I can actually see Team RWBY killing Adam at some point, I dont mean I think its going to happen but I think its not off the table. I dont think Adam actually does think he is always doing the 'right' thing, I think he does with the white fang, but I think with Blake and Yang it was all pure hate and the want to control and harm Blake.
I do want to see so much more about the faunus and not only the white fang, as it really only shows a minority group being seen as a terrorist group so far. There has to be so much more to go into with the faunus, all the innocent faunus and the faunus victims (of both humans and the white fang). I really would like to see a whole arc really covering all of that.

As for Adam, I think that he hates all humans, whether they support faunus or not, I think thats the whole point of his character so far and how he changed the white fang from a peaceful group to a group that will kill and attack any human.

I wonder if Blake will eventually overtake the White Fang and turn it around, founding peace between faunus and humans perhaps..but I think thats a very long way down the line. Also there needs to be someone on the human side of things fighting and leading to protect faunus too for that to happen.

Nice.  I also despise Adam, given what he's done on screen and his past abuse of Blake as confirmed by Roosterteeth, but I also rather hope we'll find out exactly what made Adam into what he is today in volumes to come.  What Roosterteeth decides to do with him in the future will also no doubt prove interesting.  Redemption?  Retribution?  An ignominious death at the hands of the greater evil he's too blind to see once it decides he's no longer useful?
In any event, I'll stay content with my headcanon end for him: it involves a drop, one of Blake's ribbons used as a noose, and Blake and Yang holding the other end of the ribbon.  Nice piece.

It will be interesting to find out about their pasts for sure, theres so many characters and we barely know much about any of them. I hope Adam doesn't get a redemption, he's way too far gone, it would be better he stays as a villian I think but I do want to see a lot more about the faunus.

Hahaha I like your headcanon.

martinm95 In reply to mercurialfox [2016-07-04 18:37:07 +0000 UTC]

but I really hate how everyone hates him just because hes acting evil and hurting the heroes, like any villain would. Seriously, what did people expect him to do, give chocolate, flowers and tuna to Blake, drop on his knees and beg for her to return to him? And then they go around posting hateful art and fanfiction about him. When i see stuff like that, it pains me.

Whats even worse, is that if Adam was a girl, it would be different and he would receive much less hate. I hate sounding like a sexist but this is the truth. Just look at Cinder, caused much more pain, received much less hate.

And I just used the word 'hate' much more than I would have liked.

mercurialfox In reply to martinm95 [2016-07-04 19:11:17 +0000 UTC]

I understand it is difficult when people dislike your favourite character but Adam has been written as a character for the fans to hate, even for a villian. RT say themselves how creepy and unlikable he is. Its not just that he is a villian or that he hurt the main charaters, it's his attitude and behaviour, the malice behind the things he does. And he doesn't have a charming personalitiy like some of the other characters who are evil.

However Im not sure if anyone should be looking for redemption in any of the villians. As I mentioned, my favourites from RWBY are villians. This doest mean I think that anything they have done is forgivable, or will have a backstory that explains their behaviour and lets them off the hook. That isnt the sort of backstory I want to see and believe characters should be held responsible for the things they do.

Its ok to like evil characters in stories, they're interesting. And its normal for people to be angry at villians too. I haven't seen a great love of Cinder or anyone saying that she should get away with what she's done?  She is a terrible person, a murderer and a much more formidable foe than Adam is. But theres a lot of rwby fans, lots of opinions out there.

Currently though, she does have more of an interesting character, perhaps this is why people 'like' her. She is interesting to watch, but that doesnt mean people dont hate her for killing characters. She's cool? So its fun to watch her. Thats all it is I think. Not anyone being unfair. I dont think it would make a difference Adam being a girl, if everything she did and said was the exactly the same. Its not because Cinder is female, she just is interesting. Its down to charisma.

My fanart was a joke, a bit of fun, it wasnt intended to upset anyone. At the end of the day Adam is a bad guy who tried to kill the main protagonists, so he's gonna be the butt of the joke in fanworks..

Love how Cinder killed Pyrrha and Adam is still one of the most hated I'm an Adam fan, but hate how the character changed from the trailer to now. Since his character changed I'm hoping it can change again through plot development. It's not impossible, its Remnant, anything is possible.

mercurialfox In reply to KingofLullaby [2016-07-04 10:21:02 +0000 UTC]

Haha, well I think Cinder gets a fair share of hate for that too, rightly so. But I think Cinder has a slight air of cool about her which makes her a likable villian to hate? Whereas Adam is just an asshole through and through lol.
He seemed interesting enough in the trailer I agree, but since his actually appearances in show, he is really unlikable! At least I think so. but you have to have some villians that are just unlikable too I guess.
I'm not sure if he can change, nor would I forgive him after what he has done. But I should think we will get to find out why he is the way he is and see some back story for sure.

I'm literally scared of him. Seriously. Given the order, he can kill anyone at any time. Afraid as I am of him because he nearly killed two important characters in one go, I hope for his death to be painful. Preferably spilling has guts out.

2manybooks In reply to MMDabstracts17 [2016-07-18 14:24:50 +0000 UTC]

Adam is rather terrifying: despite his obvious rage toward Blake and Humanity, he does seem to keep himself under control; able to think, able to ensure every action causes the maximum amount of pain.  The worst kind of high-functioning sociopath, I suppose.  Though now, I wonder if its possible to get him angry enough to lose control, and what happens when he does.  Would he get sloppy and reckless, like a enraged bull?
I mainly wonder how he would respond to a likely truth: that, in the end, he and the White Fang are just Cinder and Salem's attack dogs, and that the two will likely have him and the White Fang exterminated when they are no longer useful.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MMDabstracts17 In reply to 2manybooks [2016-07-18 18:33:15 +0000 UTC]

Well he may not be an actual bull faunus, but he could be like Yang and be reckless. And what if he didn't care about the bigger picture and did what he was told for his own reasons? He clearly wants Blake all to himself, but is it for mutual feelings or because he just needs her for his job. If she hadn't shadow cloned, Blake would have been dead already and without hesitation too. Would sociopaths hesitate to kill somebody that was actually close to them? That's what I'm wondering. This could help me understand this bastion of death a little more.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

2manybooks In reply to MMDabstracts17 [2016-07-19 14:46:50 +0000 UTC]

I think Adam actually is a Bull Faunus, it said so on the RWBY wiki.  He was shown in the show to be working for Cinder under the pain of death if he declined, because she was too powerful even for him to fight.  I'm sure he hates the everything about working for Cinder, and is likely trying to get out from under her heel, since she killed his men, plus the situation is exactly the kind he loathes and feels he is fighting to end: a human tyrant forcing Faunus to do her bidding.  I do wonder if Adam even really cares about the White Fang cause of Faunus liberation anymore, or if he just wants to kill and hurt humans for past injustices without a care for the endgame.
Hopefully Volume 4 will provide insight into Adam's past, because I find that in most cases with both heroes and villains, the potential to be good or evil rests in every individual, and the circumstances in life tend to mould that potential into reality.  Blake did say she saw someone she cared about (likely Adam) change over time, so maybe they started off in a more normal relationship in the White Fang's more peaceful years, then Adam changed into a sociopath over time, and the relationship turned abusive (Roosterteeth has outright said that Blake and Adam's past relationship was abusive.)  Some insights into Adam's past will likely reveal what made him into what he is now.
The way things are now, I think Adam wants Blake back and to suffer for what she did simply for his own idea of justice and pleasure.  He thinks she betrayed him, and none of it was due to his actions.  Textbook abusive situation: (Why do you make me hit you?  Why must you hurt me, Blake?)  Nothing is his fault, in his mind.  Adam definitely has a sickening, mentally ill, sadistic, sociopathic viewpoint, and people with that viewpoint can find reason to do ANYTHING, including murder people they care or cared deeply about, without remorse, if something pushes them past whatever thin restraint remains in their brains.  The reason for this is because empathy, the part of the mind that allows people to see from other peoples perspectives, is essentially turned off in people with sociopathic viewpoints.  At most, they'll acknowledge a victim's fear and pain, but won't care.  This reality is what makes sociopaths like Adam so terrifying.

I'm not an expert on these things, but this is just how I see it.  Sorry about the essay here.

mercurialfox In reply to MMDabstracts17 [2016-06-29 19:03:26 +0000 UTC]

I dont think he could kill anyone at anytime, he isnt that powerful. He is being forced to work for Cinder becuase she is more powerful than him and his whole army. Blake and Yang, as great as they are, are still just kids and learning, so they were defeated much easier, so it made him seem really powerful. But I bet there are  plenty of others out there more powerful than him.

But I agree, I hope he gets a painful death! He is a really nasty character. And I usually like villians haha
