only because she saw how shitty Phelps was feeling. he normally doesn't let anything get him down. it was odd that he was nervous about doing a Pokeathlon, and it was odd that he was doing so poorly and not even really trying. she couldn't let this just end shitty for him 'cause he'd feel even worse about himself
Phelps was abandoned by his old trainer because Phelps got older and wasn't as strong anymore, so Phelps is like... really sensitive about his abilities in Pokeathlons
which Corey was too dumb to think about in the first place when Phelps obviously didn't want to participate

i love your character and i love his team. i can't remember if i commented on your first round pages or not, but your simplistic style is absolutely great for comics. they're really appealing and the realism combined with the simplicity is a great stylistic move that i can seriously get behind.
