No, not at all. Something organic, almost flower, those hues soften the original material (distressed/corroded metal? Or stone?) and makes it seem...call me weird, but, it makes me think of alien tissue, alien brain matter. I like it.

Oh wow, sounds ingenious when you put it that way. The colors actually make me think of crocuses. And yep, it's abrased metal, from colliding with other metal (two train buffers colliding).
I especially love the idea of alien tissue

Thanks. It was quite an experience, and so is writing the sequel.
I think it is a pretty typical reaction that a lot of people have, and the only thing to counter it is to just sit down and keep writing. That's the only secret, really: write. If you want to write you find the time, and you do it. The more you do the better you get, the easier it gets.
