Description
A lot of you have been asking me how I make my digital textures, so finally here's a work in progress for you. -> Download for a huge resolution!!It's not really a tutorial, but it shows you some different approaches and layering processes. I thought it would make more sense not only to show one or two textures but ten.
Hope you like it, let me know what you think! β₯

mercurycode In reply to Unevxntful [2015-05-25 13:00:00 +0000 UTC]
Not that complicated, just many layers to the process of making a complex texture

Yep and that's not all layers, just a few selected ones
Thanks!

My pleasure sometimes I have up to 15 steps, layers can be way more. It's very different every time.
Thanks for checking it out!

Ohhh... well, this might sound pretty lame but: Skill comes with practise! It's an ancient wisdom but so true! Every time I start making a texture it's all trial and error for me, too. Sometimes I make a texture and I hate it so much that I just trash it and noone ever gets to see it, except for maybe my boyfriend, haha

Oh lol im an artist to xD , my profile pic is a picture i drew and i trahsed it on 4 different occasions, took me a week to process what I wanted. I'm just very unfamiliar with this style of art, very unique from my perspective.Β

This is helpful and nice to see! These are all little changes, but at the end the texture is very different. I especially like the coloring you add. Thanks for posting this

Yeah, most of the time it's many little steps and then suddenly I have a completely different texture than what I started off with. Thanks for the feeback, my friend

Real nice how to look at this progress. To look at the different steps.
Really like the progress in the 7th one.
Thanks for sharing this.

This is very useful understanding the layering; not only for creating textures but also for understanding how to use them in manipulations.
Thank you!

You're welcome I like happy accidents, sometimes they're even more exciting than doing something on purpose.

Yes, they certainly have a very surprising effect... Sometimes I just sit there playing around in photoshop, suddenly something happens I didn't expect and then I'll go all "Uhhhhhhhh!! OMG Sirius, you gotta take a look at his!" Same when he experiences a happy accident!
