Description I recently downloaded Inkscape and was tooling around in it, figuring out how to do what I wanted. I made this for Inkscape because 1- It's a really neat program and is open source, 2- Paintshop Pro's vectors--at least in the version I have--really suck. I wanted to make vectorized bubbles instead of using raster tools, and PSP doesn't have a layer stroke feature like Photoshop does anyway.

I've compiled it all into an image and uploaded it here, mostly so I won't forget how to do it if I don't play around with Inkscape for awhile.

Wow! You nailed two problems in one speech bubble tutorial. I was always having problems with the first part of your tutorial. Never considered how to handle bubble overflow out of a panel. Thank you so much for making this and showing us too. C: I'm forever grateful.

Been trying to figure a way to fuse two shapes together for a while on inkscape(I admit, ain't much of a regular user...), all this time I've been doing it with the Edit Path tool, adding knots and pulling them around to make the tails.

Thanks a bunch.

Once again, great tutorial.

Here some end results of your technique taught here. Also, gee wiz info to prove Inkscape and GIMP work well with each other...

If using GIMP, color FIRST, then add bubbles with Inkscape, use the "File" "Export" command and export the "Drawing" and it'll export as .png file. Inkscape can't save in .jpg! However, you can open it right back up in GIMP and "Save As" and turn it right back into a .jpg! Kind of round about, but the results are great!
