Description
I imagine this fairy is having a wonderful daydream of the fancy fashions she wants to create. She wears and appropriate outfit, complete with a hat that takes the shape of a pin cushion and measuring tape ribbon, and wings made of sewing scissors and lace.Prints of this painting are available on my site and Etsy

Love this too!
When you did the lace, did you paint around it? Or did you use some sort of masking fluid on the paper? I love the effect!

Eeep! No masking! Making her lace wings must have been tricky.

I drew the outer outline in ink and then painted all the background around it. I filled in the smaller areas in the lace after with a small brush.

Probably the inking part of lace took longest.

I don't understand - you inked it? As in inking with white, or inking in between with brown? Looks fabulous though.

I mean the brown outlines. I had to draw a little spaces in the lace.

Gorgeous! The idea of seamstress costume is so well done. Seriously what passionate seamstress wouldn't want the tools of her trade nearby? And I love the lace and scissor wings. Absolutely beautiful.

Well this is lovely. It reminds me very much of the victorian shadow portraits, and it gives just enough feeling of that kind of nostalgia. And lovely rendering, as always!
