Varda slowly opened her eyes. “Weak,” she answered “and tired. And seasick”
“Seasick?” repeated Martin in a fake offended voice. “It is not nice, milady; maybe next time I’ll let the goblins eat you. “
Varda could not see Martin’s face, but she knew that he was smiling. She gently squeezed his shoulder. “No you will not”, she whispered into his ears with a low, purring voice which made him shiver with pleasure. “Because you’re a gentleman”, she added with a more enthusiastic tone.
“I guess you’re right”, the priest admitted and they started to laugh together.
“I am heavy, am I not?” asked the Dunmer after a moment.
Martin shook his head. “No, it’s fine,” he lied. “The Nine give me strength.”
“What?” Varda laughed, hitting him playfully. “Like I said, a real gentleman!”
