I always found it quite impressive how they managed to make the turians smile given how their face in constructed. It was so small but it was easy to see and so subtle.
I'm half way through the second game and I still flinch every time I see his scar and armor. I think I could live with the scar but how in the world can I give him a new armor?!

It's... nice how the slightest move of something small (like those mandibles/the forehead) makes us think of it as Garrus's smile.

Awesome. Who says turians don't have expressions? I've always found Garrus pretty easy to read, thanks to the wonderful animation in the game (especially ME2). They can't move their faces around like we can, true, but they say a lot with their mandibles and the soft skin around their eyes. Like this smile here -- he can't curl the corners of his mouth up, so he flexes the mandibles out and down a little, showing teeth without snarling. Great capture.
