I'm thinking about doing all the Pokemon from Gen1 in this style as practice. 

(I love Beedrill. I really have a soft spot for bees and bee Pokemon <3)

It would certainly help you with learning how you want to do this style.

(Does that include the Combee and Cutiefly families too? Because I absolutely fell in love with Cutiefly and Ribombee when I played Sun. Actually, is there more than that? They're the ones in addition to the Weedle family that comes to mind when I hear bee pokemon.)

Absolutely! I spent ages trying to get a female Combee, (my friend got me one in the end.) As for Cutiefly? I almost died when I saw it. It's just one of the sweetest Pokemon there is. Have you see the Beefly it's based off of? So cute!
