I was commissioned to make a golden Bast mask this week. I also came down with a nasty little flu on Monday...fever of 102.8 at one point. If you can picture me, feverish and very ill, shakily cutting this mask out on Tuesday night and barely avoiding serious injury, you've got it about right.

Anyway I took my time making her and I think she turned out just the way I'd hoped she would.

The customer requested a burnished gold with a dark bronze for the details. I dyed the whole mask brown, drybrushed gold over it, then painted the details dark brown and drybrushed bronze over those parts. Simple but elegant. She looks like Bast with a lovely golden tan to me...very "Queen of the Nile".

Made of hand carved, hand shaped leather. Like everything else I make.
