Description
I'm still playing with metallic snake patterns. Here's another experiment: my half (snoutless) dragon design with a black, copper & gold corn snake pattern.I made a total ass of myself while taking this picture outside. The wind is blowing pretty hard today (40mph) and an especially strong gust grabbed my white reflection umbrella and WHOOSHED it down the street. So I had to chase it. I hope you like the photograph because it totally cost me my dignity.
As ever, this is leather, hand tooled & hand shaped, painted with Liquitex acrylics. This mask is available right now in my Etsy shop: [link]

While, as previously noted in the comments, the copper and bronze blend in with each other a little more so that it seems almost like they're the same color instead of two separate pieces, I like having the warmth of these better than the chilly silver. Among other things, it showcases the black bands with stunning definition, emphasizing the shape of the lines around the eyes in particular, which I suspect is part of the reason it feels more Egyptian than the previous snake pattern. The fine white lines stand out much better here as well, to the benefit of the overall design, I think. A little more contrast between the copper and bronze would be great, but I wouldn't give up on this design just yet.

I think you're right about the colors blending a bit too closely. Still definitely experimenting with this idea. A red-copper blend for the dark bands would be a better choice next time.
Glad you like it.

Wow, these snake-patterened dragon masks are gorgeous. I'm rather madly in love with the entire concept.

I love the color scheme on this mask. I'm not sure if the blue tint is caused by the camera settings or the dark color is really a really deep blue, but it looks lovely.

Beautiful mask (as always), and a lovely photograph! And I really enjoyed the umbrella story, too.

Oh and I rather like this snoutless version! The ones with snouts are amazing, but I think I lean towards the more simplistic and smooth masks with the touches of key details. They catch my eye most

I like how the white lines work - the pattern is really nice. Not too sure about the brown tones - but since they're metallic, they work okay.

The trials of an artist! But I'm sure your neighbors will have forgotten then incident by tomorrow
I'm really loving these snake pattern masks. I love snakes and want one as a pet eventually. Might I suggest candy-cane corn snakes for a future design?

This one's my favorite so far! the pattern is so pretty.. and i think i prefer the snake colors on the snoutless dragons... makes the pattern the most striking aspect..
Gah, i just love this. that fine white line is perfect.

I love the curly-do's on the horns. And I hope your poor 'brella survived. :/

It's got a rather regal feel to it. Also reminds me of your Egyptian masks for some reason; probably the colours, I guess. Would make sense for an Egyptian dragon to be snake-like, though.

Thanks! I think so too. Egyptian art had a lot of cobras and cobra patterns in it...they really liked the snake theme too!

Haha, I do like the photograph so it was worth it,
but I think the one with silver in it was way way
better looking.

Thank you. I think the silver had better contrast. In the future I need to use a darker, redder copper I think.

No! I looked foolish! Really, really foolish. I had my i-pod on my head & I'd been bending over photographing the mask, and I had the headphone cord IN MY MOUTH so it wouldn't dangle into the picture.
So there i was, dashing down the road in my crocs (bad!!) with my ipod cord clenched in my teeth like a dog (worse!!). I have no class at all.

Crocs, oh DEAR. Unless they were these ones, which are cute: [link]
It still sounds kind of cute to me. Not very DIGNIFIED, but still cute. (Dignity doesn't tend to be cute anyway.)

LOL no such luck! Although I did buy these Croc sandals for my Florida vacation and they're quite un-croclike & cute too: [link]
No, I was wearing the traditional ugly Crocs, only worse 'cause my Mom got them for me at DisneyWorld and the holes are shaped like Mickey's head...no lie. They are hideous but comfy. I never ever wear them in public.

I like 'Farrah' in navy and 'Cyprus' in Chocolate/Cotton Candy: [link]
I didn't know Crocs came in cute styles...now I may have to get some. Wedge and platform heels are my favourite because you get the benefit of a heel without all the pain.
Oh dear, Mickey. That's kind of like wearing your Moo-Cow jammies to the grocery store or something. Lol. Probably no one saw you though. STILL not as ugly as the outfit I wore when I ran down to the cash to mail out those two SB volumes to you before the mailman arrived.

Ooo I really like this one. The metallic, copper snake colors with a dragon? Totally awesome. I love the little flipped ears, but also, you always use such great backgrounds for taking the pictures, they always seem to make the mask stand out so well while complimenting it at the same time ^^

Heeee, another gorgeous snake-patterned dragon. Your half-dragons are most certainly my favourites, ESPECIALLY the snakey ones. Beautiful.
