It's kind of a reoccuring thing in G1 where whenever the robots are in water they can float. Unless it's plot relevant that they sink.

Well, he got tired of keeping his head up and it was more float-y than he. Thankfully his crest is keeping it there. xD
I really don't even know. and I were talking, and I was describing some episode of G1 that I had watched the night before, and then suddenly we were talking about how they can float for some reason but are useless except for Optimus and.... yeah. She has some odd mental images.
