I SUPPORT REALISTIC OCs
Yeah. I decided to make this stamp. Cause I haven't seen any like this on dA.
What I mean by "realistic", doesn't mean I don't like fantasy or non-real things. Its more of the personality and stuff like that. Real Personalities make a character FAR more interesting to me. So what if they have flaws here and there? It makes them seem more real. Anti Sue sort of stamp.
REAL PERSONALITIES PLZ. No ones perfect, so why should an OC be? :3
I try to keep my OCs as realistic as possible. For example, Selene (my dragon rider OC), isn't the nicest person. She is very violent and says things that offends people easily. And she keeps things bottled up too long and often explodes when people say certain things to her.

Completely agree, i try to give flaws and limitations to my OCs and before that i do research in roder to make them more realistic. I don't care much about design, i am more interested into creating something realistic.

I'm so happy my plain-jane OCs have flaws, because it makes them more realistic. + They have their own personalites & a background story. (they're half-bloodedΒ human/non-human who have superpowers)

One of my popular OCs, Agawin, she has her strengths, but the one thing that gets to her is thanking of her past too hard, as she is kinda one to keep thinking about past events and not think of the present or future. She also acts out of fear of some things, like a certain person from her past, or maybe just something that scares her. She is prideful enough to fend for herself, but she also tends to cry alone and silently at times when she gets too stressed. She appears strong and willful, but on the inside she's just sad, scared, and looks to her only friend as support. But she tries to never show it. Because personality.

SCREW THE IDEA OF REALISTIC SOMETIMES "REALISTIC" AIN'T AN OPTION, HON!
IF YOU THINK REALISTIC IS AN OPTION IN HARRY POTTER, OR STAR WARS, OR ANY NON REALISTIC VERSE THEN YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FANFICTION.

I give my OC's flaws when I write Harry Potter fanfiction. For example, Keanu, one of my OC's, is single-minded. Other notable flaws includes Canute Janisson and his extreme pride, Sakura and her sly personality, Harold and his recklessness. To me, that's all flaws for my OC's and makes them more interesting to write. But for every good OC I write, there are five OC's that are Mary-Sues.

I totally agree. I'm tired of all the Mary-Sues and the OP hero-type OCs. Seriously people, get some substance, back story, ANYTHING!

They kinda had a morbid past and don't talk much, mainly because of the time and place. o-o... and for some strange reason one of their peers fear them greatly at first glance... I think its their 'stare' XD
They are mainly passive, not really standing up for their rights but have a friend they can depend on for help ;o. so they kinda an underdog.

Yes and don't make them afraid to challenge popular views. If that doesn't give them flaws (by opinion of others) then nothing will. For example my character Victoria spoke up (sympathized) for man of Japanese origin in America during WW2 to a girl she thought was her friend. She is now one less friend. Making them disliked my at least moderately likable characters makes them real and interesting.

I totally agree! But it annoys me to no end when people crit the villain of my comic, saying he and his behavior are not believable, when, in reality, he acts just like a serial killer/rapist, and those people DON'T make sense and yet they DO exist in the real world. So . . . those people who crit that OC need to do their research.

When a character has flaws (REAL flaws), is much more easy to the reader to symphatize with it. Who would love a character that is OMG SUPER BEAUTIFUL/POWERFUL/NICER KYAAAA!1!1!11 *cofcofMarySueandGaryStucofcof*?. Realistic character are a lot more entertaining and interesting. Great stamp

I agree with this! I tend to find it much better take the bad with the good and work in shades of grey. It's much more interesting, dynamic and convincing. All of my OCs have flaws in their personalities and lives and I'm glad they do.
