Thank you for the critique!
I tried to make her very young looking, thus the small body, I'll try to work on the proportions more next time, or change this if the new owner will require it.
As for the colours, I always work with a limited palette, so that will be harder to come over. I don't see a problem with a character having a slightly monochrome colour palette though, there are several memorable characters with limited colour choice.

A limited palette is fine. But to leave a greater impact on the viewer... will need more vivid colors and contrasting colors on the color wheel.Β
But i think, you did a really great job making her look young. she looks adorable! (:

uwaaaah! its so adorable! you did a fabulous job, merollet-chan!
5 stars! its well done, you show different images, I love it! the only thing that would make it better would probably be if u added and a back reference as well. a back referenece can be really useful to others, so i think it would be great if u added that next time! thats all i have to say, i love your art so there isnt much for me to say.i cant wait to see your next adopt! im sure your next one will be just a cute! hehe.^^

Thank you for the kind critique!Β
I'm not very sure what you mean by the back reference though, since there is one onΒ the picture, maybe you mistook it for something else...? ;;

What really appealed to me is the Technique you used, I found it very calming almost soothing. This technique is not easy to master but by looking at this picture I can tell you have for me the technique is amazing.
Now for originality. I know creating this is not easy, it is defenilty not easy to create your own, I found that you used to much features that are now commonly used so it makes your artwork less for originality.
I really love the colours you used, I thought that they very perfect very vivid and it fits perfectly with the picture.
Overall a very well drawn character, amazing use of technique. Very good job on this.

Thank you!
I'll keep in mind what you said when creating something new~!
I agree with you on the originality, since this was created for adoption, I tried to use elements that are commonly liked, so she would be well received. I'll try to be more original next time.

It always makes me feel down when I see one of these. I'm often worried that I won't win the bid, but I bet it feels so good to put things like this into a story. However that's not my main concern. I doubt that either my mom and Forest(my sister) would allow me to. I don't believe Mom would allow me to sent money and we don't have a lot of points left. Any advice for the next one?

To all those who think it's outrageous for someone to spend so much on art, stop having such a practical mindset for a moment. Art should be bought for the sake of art, and the theory of subjective value is especially valid in this realm.Β After all, why else would art connoisseurs spend millions of dollars on pieces of artwork like the Mona Lisa?
Either way, just be happy for Merollet and the buyer. I'm sure if you were in her shoes, you would be hurt by such comments as well.

I'm not going to adopt her but favorite this deviation because it's just so adorable! Amazing shading, the light source is spot on, incredible usage of color, and just plain gorgeous!

150 bucks for one adobt? Damn the world is going crazy... Why not design a character yourself for free instead of this.

Why do you care what other people choose to spend their money on?

Rather than thinking of the characters as "That's something you can just make yourself!!1!" I choose to think about it in two ways...Β An adoptable is a gift. It's a character made by some one you respect/admire. When you buy one you are basically saying "Hey I admire your work and your creativity! So much, that I am buying a character that you made, so that I can own a piece of you, to love and cherish." You are not buying the character so much as to say "I admire you so much that I want to give you money just so that I can have something you put your heart into creating as an appreciation to you for the art you make." Its more of "I now own something 100% created by some one I greatly admire". It's different from an art commission, which is a character you made that they are drawing. They did not create that character so only 50% of them goes into that piece. A character created by them is 100% of them even if they only did it for money. In the end they still had to think hard and say "I need to make this look good enough for some one to buy". None the less its something they made and you want it. So you paid how ever much it takes to get it.
Secondly think of them as limited collection dolls/figurines. If a doll/figurine maker you and many others greatly admire makes a limited one, that only 1 person can own of course people are going to bid to own it. You will pay as much money as it takes to own this doll/figurine created by this person. Is it worth it in the end? Yes because you hold the title of being the sole owner of this doll/figure. This one of a kind instance that can not be exactly replicated twice. In the end it might look silly to non-doll/figure collectors but you know that one day that doll/figure might be worth alot more, not just to you, but to others in the future. And you feel proud to have gotten it before anyone else.
Who makes you the judge of how people should spend their money? When people are willing to spend money to get collectibles? An adoptable isnt much different from a collectible. Something you would want from an artist you truly admire.
Sorry for the long windedness but this is how I explain adoptables to people that criticize it to heavily.

Not everyone can draw this well. If you have the money available to you, through your own hard work, can you not spend it as you will? Is the buyer not just supporting an artist who is trying to make it?
The world is 'going crazy' because there is demand for a good and an individual buying. You don't have to want to buy the item to understand it.
There are many other actions in the world that are worse than another individual spending their own money on something that in no way relates to you-isn't there?

Some just arnt that creative or cant even draw and everyone has different ways of seeing things. If they have the money to buy it why not its their money and they can do whatever they want with it ^^
