So this past week I was playing Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, and was all excited that Drizzt was an unlockable character... until I found out he was almost impossible to unlock. Completely infuriated, I yell "Why isn't there a Drizzt game already? I could do that! I make fan games! I could do that RIGHT NOW!" And then you could practically hear the *bing* sound effect as a figurative lightbulb went on over my head, because I *could* do that right now. So I started.I realized quickly that I'm now better at spriting from scratch than editing, because this took FOREVER. But then, I was using Todd Lockwood art as reference, so it's uber-detailed. (Also this guy: [link] . Amazing, right?)
I'm not sure if I'll actually finish the character, since it did take forever, but I thought about taking donations if anyone wants me to finish it. The money would actually go to buying music for the original games I'm working on, because music is EXPENSIVE. Anywho, I'll update if that becomes the case.

You just have to complete the game once to unlock him, he's outside the selection screen though.

That's in Dark Alliance 2, which I don't have (yet... just ordered in on amazon, lol). In the first one, you have to beat the game once, then you unlock "The Gauntlet," where you play as Drizzt and then you have 15 minutes to go through an extremely difficult dungeon with very few items or equipment. Once you do that, then you unlock Extreme Mode. Then you have to beat the game on Extreme Mode to unlock Drizzt for regular play. There is a button input code you can do at the character select screen to get him at any point, but the game won't allow you to load any saves with him until you've beaten Extreme Mode... so I played like that for a while, but you pretty much have to beat the game all in one sitting without dying, which I am not so good at. ^_^; I hear you have to do the same thing to get Artemis Entreri in the second game.

I've read a good chunk of the novels, which the comics follow pretty closely. I'll probably start picking up the comics since they're starting to collect them into omnibus editions.

The Barnes & Noble here also stocks it, but that's probably because one of Derek's D&D friends works there, so he has some say over what they stock. ^_^;
