Description I went on my first plane flight just two months ago. I was kind of nervous, but ended up having *so* much fun. It was fascinating, watching the scenery grow smaller and smaller, until finally we were up through the clouds... and the cloudscape was amazing. And there is nothing quite like the feeling of takeoff, of being liberated from the constraints of gravity and seeing the impossibility of this giant metal capsule rocketing into the air and *staying* aloft.

Anyway, it brought to mind a character I'd drawn quite some time ago, loosely inspired by "When the Wind Blows" by James Patterson, and his character which he later revised in his Maximum Ride books. Instead of having arms *and* wings, I wanted it to have wings *instead* of arms.

Awesome! Dumb question, but could you explain how the wings work in that book? Do the kids have arms AND wings, or feathery arms?

In Maximum Ride the kids have wings on their backs, but in When the Wind Blows and the Lake house the wings are where their arms should be and their arms are below them.

Well, it really depends on which book you read... in "When the Wind Blows", I'm pretty sure they have feathery arms, but in the "Maximum Ride" books they have both, because they talk about Max hiding her wings by wearing a big sweater. And I haven't read "The Lake House" yet, which is apparently the sequel to "When the Wind Blows".
