Hoooray for first digital painting ever
Well I do realize that this portrait is rather easy to do since there aren't a lot of variety of colors. But I'm just a beginner
°v° Also I'm fully aware that there are countless of portraits of this photo on dA but I don't particularly care since it's not in my gallery °w°

I love the feel of the hair looks realistic *-* and the pose looks fine owo, just a little more shade and bright to the skin would be better ^^

love the pose its awesome, hair is really nicely detailed, color use is good very soft only room for improvement i could see is adding a little more detail definition to lips and nose to draw more attention to that part of the picture.

I like the expression in the hand, head angle, etc. Also the shading on the palm. It seems a bit odd that the hair leaves no shadow, though, and it's a bit tricky to tell which fingers are in front and which are behind.

Looks pretty nice though I would say this:
The hand and the shadow in the had (and how it lies against the nose) needs some fixing up and the left side needs some shadowing and highlights, remember that people have collar bones and such*. It would also need some more forming on the shoulder (look at the ref pic and how it is shaped there).
*I know your ref pic is quite white but you can make some artistic choices here
But it's a great start and can be really really good with some touching up. Love the hair!

Well actually this is Miyavi, a famous Japanese recording artist mostly known for his unique guitar skill. And since he's famous there are tons of his portraits on dA along with this one x)

Actually this is a painting of an photo x) I though it would best for me to start with something simple. So yes reference were used along with some tutorials here and there(though they were more confusing than useful. As for the watermark, I'll change it as soon as I can xD

Either way, it's good. I like that it's simple and not so....heavy on the coloring/shading. Some people just LOAD their work full of shades and colors and it's so crazy it's hard to view. XD
