Description
A tutorial that explains to a medium level of precision the creation of my piece "Lunar." This tutorial does not go into 100% detail, to prevent mindless completion and publishing of the product, but it does cover the techniques and methods used to create both the cloud bank and the day-sky moon crescents.Comments appreciated.

ya its nice but it sais in the title how to make the moon it doesn't tell you at all how to make the moon it tells you to go find a tutorial which sucks,
so i've finally found a cool moon tutorial and the part which covers the moon just sais go find a tutorial.

Some great ideas here. I rarely use stock photos, but then again my clouds stink. So I may use this technique in the future!
Thanks for the tutorial, I think it will help me a lot. I like the vagueness, too... encourages people to think for themselves.

Wow! I will definitely have to try this. Question, how well could this work with one of my sunset shots? I don't think I could do something quite like this with them, but what do you think?

Sure, it's all in how you color the sky gradient behind the clouds. You could easily do a sunset shot with this, although having a planet in the same shot as the sun might be a bit difficult to do correctly.
