"We all come down here, figured we'd all be part of Applejack's Great Chain. Turns out Applejack's is made of gold, and ours are the sort with the big iron ball around your ankle. She's up in Fort Frolic banging fashion models... we're down in this dump yanking guts outta fish. Pinkamena's promising something better. She's like one of us, you know, like she's worked a day in her life. She says meet her at her fish-packing joint at 11. I'll go, bring a couple of guys. Hey, it's not like things could get a lot worse."

Lily Audio Diary: Smuggling is a Crime

"This started out as simple. Take Pinkamena's mini sub back topside twice a week, pick up some choice goods not available in a remote place like Rapture, you know: sunflowers, real tobacco, just a little extras. But now, Applejack and her type have up and called smuggling a hanging crime. Hanging? Says any connection to the surface could destroy the city. Before long, only difference between this place and topside is whether or not you can open up the damn windows!"

Lily Audio Diary: Putting the Screws On

"Pinkamena's putting the screws on us, and double. She's squeezing us out 80 points of our cut with the threat of turning us in to Applejack if we don't play ball. Son of a mule. Medley comes and tells me she's thinking of going to the constable, and the next day, Medley was found in a sack in the salt pond. THE HORROR! We got no choice here. We stay on Pinkamena's crew, we're gonna catch the gallows. We take a powder, and we end up like Medley. There's gotta be another way..."

"The country porkpie offered me a deal. I flip 'em Pinkamena, and I walk out of here. That simple. He may be Applejack's bigger brother, but how do I know that fat mule isn't actually Pinkamena's guy? How do I know they're not all Pinkamena's guy? Pinkamena's got ADAM and everypony wants it. Applejack's got a whole lot of talk and a nice hat. Even down here, any idiot can see which way the wind is blowing."
