Personality: Ariel is an introvert by nature and one of the youngest members of the Alliance. Ariel is a very sweet, innocent, polite, caring and unfathomably kind-hearted girl, always seeing the good in all and having peoples interests at heart, putting others before herself. However, one of Ariel’s main traits is that she is also very shy, timid and meek. Quiet by nature, Ariel lacks self esteem and confidence and can be easily frightened and rather jumpy. She is also rather unassuming and modest, practically refusing to take credit and blushing when being praised. Yet she is also insecure and unsure of herself and can doubt her abilities, sometimes thinking she isn’t good enough or not thinking she is capable. Being the daughter of ‘the world’s greatest superhero’ Ariel can put a lot of responsibility and pressure on herself to live up to being a good hero like her father, however she feels the pressure and stress of such a responsibility, often doubting her capabilities. Ariel is also a pacifist by nature, she shares her fathers no kill code and would only incapacitate opponents, also making sure to use words first, caring for the lives of her opponents. Even in her civilian life, Ariel is an introverted, reserved and rather anxious person, lacking social skills and often being afraid to speak up or talk to others. This is demonstrated by her soft-spoken tone and her tendency to stammer and stutter, often speaking in barley more than a whisper or having trouble getting words out, despite this she does desire to improve her confidence and social life and make friends. Ariel is also a worrier and can have a habit of constantly apologising, sometimes thinking or worrying she has done something wrong, often blaming herself for things that are not even her fault, however she is aware of this and calms down when reassured. She can also fear her abilities worrying about hurting others or losing control, which can hold her back from believing in herself. Ariel can also be rather ditzy and awkward person, can sometimes get distracted which leads to another one of her quirks which is that she can also be described as something of a klutz, sometimes running into things or tripping over her own feet by accident, this usually happens when she gets nervous or anxious, giving her nervous energy.

Despite her social issues Ariel, especially after becoming a superhero, is shown to still have an assertive and decisive side to her, especially since becoming the leader of The Five, even displaying more confidence and relaxed nature. Ariel is also more confident and relaxed around those she trusts or feels comfortable around such as her father, brother, her best friends or her love interest and will often confide in them when she has issues, and they encourage her and cheer her on. She is respected and even looked up to be her team for her kindness and loving nature. Ariel is a deeply compassionate, gentle and caring person, who has a deep desire to help people and do what is right. She cares deeply for her friends and family and often puts others before herself, showing deep empathy despite her short comings. Ariel does also enjoy having fun and spending time with those she loves, showing enjoyment and though still relatively quiet is more outgoing and happier. Ariel is also quite mature for her age and has a deep sense of responsibility, honour, peace and justice, sometimes acting as the voice of reason, though having trouble because of her social issues. She is also a nurturing person, often encouraging and comforting those in need with her kind words and gentle nature. However, what drives her on more than anything is her care and passion for others, wanting to make sure everyone is safe, happy and whole. She takes her job seriously and always sees the bigger picture and tries to help as many people as she can. Though she rarely opens up about its Ariel has a lot of sadness in her which stemmed from the loss of her mother, having not met in in later years, she feels that a place in her life is missing without her, yet she discovered how lucky she is to have such a loving and supportive father and brother who played major roles in helping her become who she is now. Despite her shy and sad nature still retains an optimistic and positive outlook with a strong moral compass to aid her, showing much potential, strength and bravery inside her as a true hero, following in her father’s footsteps.

Though she seems unaware of this Ariel is actually a very beautiful and dreamy girl and often has others looking at her with stars in their eyes, sometimes gathering around or being star struck by her beauty. However, she is rather oblivious of this and isn’t fond of the spotlight, shrinking under all the attention.

Appearance: Ariel is a Caucasian 17-year-old teenage girl, with a pale complexion, silky, waist length, light gold blond hair and sapphire blue eyes. Ariel has a petite, slim girl standing at an average height for her age.

Her suit consists of a midnight blue body suit with many glittering speckles on them giving the effect of stars, the suit changes colours depending on which element she uses, for example orange red for fire. The suit consists of white accents on the hips similar to a belt with a single purple/blue diamond shaped gem in the centre of her waist. The suit also has white pads on the sides and a black neck to chest piece that leads onto her emblem which consists of a white six-pointed star with a round spectrum symbol in the centre, consisting of: red, light blue, light green, brown, blue, green, yellow, black, white and grey representing one of each element in her arsenal. Finally, Ariel wears white thigh length heeled boots and long white gloves that go up to her biceps with a dark blue shooting star symbol going along the front. She wears a long white hooded cape that wraps around her body and finally a midnight blue domino mask on her face.

. Element was originally two separate characters:

One was more similar to the current one, differences being her costume was all white with silver boots, gloves and cape with a different emblem.
The second was a character I called Galaxia, who was inspired by Green Lantern, Dr. Strange and Captain Marvel. She was where the solid light constructs, intangibility, teleportation and invisibility came from along with the star emblem and her star patterned costume and color scheme. I scrapped the character because I didn’t really know how to write her or what to do with her, plus my team roster was getting a bit overloaded so it felt like a good way to combine both characters making a good compromise between the two.
. Element first came to be after a discussion I had with my brother the day I came up with the concept of the series in which him asked him what superpower he would want and the I said elemental manipulation.

. Element is based on the DC character Green Lantern. Her appearance was loosely inspired by the DC characters Supergirl and Stargirl and Astra from the Wearing the Cape novel by Marion G. Harmon, her design was also inspired by Starlight from the Amazon Prime show The Boys.

. Her powers were also inspired by the Amazon prime version of Green Ghost from the Comic/ TV series Invincible and The Marvels characters Quasar and Nova

. Her personality was inspired by:

. The idea of her and Tigerclaw being a couple was my father’s idea

. Her name was originally going to be Ella Forest

Ella was because it sounded similar to Element
Forest was from the nature element of her powers, and I thought it tied in nicely with her father for its American sounding tone
. Ariels first name was inspired by the character Ariel from The Little Mermaid which has been commonly associated with water, it is also a name I’m quite partial to.

. Her middle was inspired by its nature meaning and was also inspired by the American Rights activist Rosa Parks, who is particularly well known for when she refused to give up her seat on a bus just because of her skin colour. In fact, her original middle name was originally going to be Rosa.

. Her last name Bell was inspired by the Freedom Bell, which reflects her father as a patriotic themed superhero, I also thought it had an air of beauty to it.

. I came up with the idea to make The Captain her father a little while after her creation, to add an interesting character to them and add to their story and character. This was a similar case with her younger brother who was originally going to be a separate character from this universe, however I decided it would be easier if I bring them together with my new overhauled universe instead of just making a whole new one, it will also be a good way to help build on Ariel’s and Hanks character.

. Many of her likes and hobbies were actually inspired by the YouTubers Wolfychu and Emirichu such as Ariel’s love for drawing, anime, musicals, electronic and pop music etc. along with many of her life experiences.

. The month she was born is based on the date Green Lantern made his debut, July 1940.

. The date she was born is based on when Fluttershy made her first appearance in the first episode of MLP G4, October 10th, 2010.
