There is a chance something like this could happen. There is an upcoming episode called Simon and Marcy this season. No details just yet, but it could be a look at the Mushroom War aftermath.

Well, we already have a powerful queen who was once a helpless child.
Because of the Enchiridion and the ice crown, Simon was the only being with enough power and knowledge to defeat and seal the lich. If he couldn't stop the bomb, this battle would be the obvious outcome. Either way, he becomes the forgotten hero of whole life.

Can we just appreciate simon for a second? This man is arguably a bigger hero than finn, and now he's nothing more than a mad (and adorable and pure and precious) fool. It's so tragic.

makes sense actually. One must wonder, how did the Lich only reappear to be beaten in Billy's time? Perhaps he really was frozen, then rebeaten by Billy, and then re-rebeaten by Finn, then re-re-rebeaten to the max with Ice King AGAIN, then could have been beaten by Ice Finn/Prince.
