Description
Widely known as "The Most Beautiful Man in the World," Adonis was a foundling cub discovered by Aphrodite, who took pity on him once she saw what an adorable little fox kit he was. However, Aphrodite already had her own brood of baby pegasi to look after, some of which were already beginning to fly. She couldn't take care of another baby, especially a flightless one.It then occurred to Aphrodite that she was a short distance from the entrance to the realm of Hades and Persephone. The female pegasus then carried the cub all the way down there and asked her adoptive sister to take him in. At first, Persephone was annoyed at being put upon like this: she already had three babies/toddlers to look after, and they were already proving quite the challenge. It just didn't seem fair to have a fourth baby to look after...
...until Persephone bothered to look at the fox cub, and beheld the most beautiful, adorable, precious baby she had ever laid eyes on.
That settled it. The rabbit-queen lovingly took the tiny fox into her arms and made him her son, giving him the name "Adonis." Hades was made aware of this, and took one look at the cub himself... and he too was filled with love. He happily adopted Adonis as his son. Even the children of Hades and Persephone (Makaria, Melinoe and Zagreus) seemed enchanted by their new brother. Zagreus even laid his gently down on Adonis to listen to him breathing, and gave his little brother a kiss on the head.
For the next several years, Adonis lived a happy life with his adoptive family in the underworld, having the best of everything. He grew up to be a talented archer and once, in youthful pride, boasted that he might be even better than Artemis... a remark that got around to the she-wolf, and as can be expected, she was *not* happy. Fortunately for Adonis, he had mother Persephone looking out for him; she warned her other adoptive sister to back off and leave her son alone. Artemis knew better than to mess with Persephone, so she grudgingly let the issue go.
Adonis also at some point became romantically involved with Apollo, the twin-brother of Artemis. Apollo was present when his sister wanted to teach the young upstart a lesson, and fell in love with the fox at first sight. Adonis reciprocated the attraction, and the two started a relationship.
However, Adonis' blissful life would become quite complicated when Aphrodite, after hearing about the incident and, out of casual curiosity, decided to look in on the foundling cub she hadn't seen in years.
Aphrodite, just like Apollo before her, fell instantly in love with the now teenage Adonis, and he certainly seemed interested in her back. However, he didn't think he could betray Apollo... but then Aphrodite used her love pheromones on him to make him forget all about Apollo. Thus, the female pegasus brought the male fox up to Mt. Olympus with her, without letting him say goodbye to his family.
Fortunately, a witness alerted Persephone to her son's abduction, and she *raced* all the way up there to rescue him, with Hades and their other three children not far behind. A great conflict arose on the mountain once Adonis' adoptive family stormed in, demanding his immediate return. Aphrodite was not about to be told that she couldn't keep this extraordinary young man, who had quickly become her new favorite lover. She gave Adonis extra dose of her pheromones to make him declare his wish to remain with Aphrodite, but Persephone impatiently pointed out that he was not in the right state of mind to make that decision.
Zeus, however, realized that history was repeating itself: there had once been a time when, in this very court, Demeter and Hades were arguing over which of them could keep Persephone, only for Persephone to humiliate and dishonor Zeus by ignoring any final decision he would have made on the matter and settling things herself. Zeus had never forgiven his adoptive daughter for that, and had been watching and waiting for a way to get even, and now...
Thus, Zeus declared that Adonis would spend a third of the year with Aphrodite, a third of the year with Persephone, and the last third with whoever of Adonis' choosing.
Adonis chose to spend the last third with Aphrodite, and Zeus declared it to be so. On the inside, he was whooping and laughing at the crestfallen face of Persephone. ("I got my revenge, you wench!")
None of Adonis' adoptive family liked this decision, but knew there was nothing that could be done. Adonis had made his choice, even if he was under Aphrodite's influence. Thus, they sadly bade the fox goodbye for the next 8 months, and would look forward to the 4 months he'd be back with them.
Most unfortunately, those 4 months would never come:
In the weeks that followed, the relationship between Aphrodite and Adonis proved to be too much for Ares. Previously, he had been Aphrodite's favorite lover, and now he had been shunted aside for a *boy.* A boy that was even younger than Aphrodite's youngest son, Himeros. It was disgusting. It was wrong. Something must be done about it.
The anger of Ares got the better of him, and he ended up employing a boar soldier to go out and "take care of" Adonis.
Unfortunately, while Ares didn't give any serious thought to what he himself meant by "take care of," the boar took it to mean he wanted Adonis dead. Thus, the boar carried out what he thought were his orders. Aphrodite was the first one to discover Adonis' dead body lying next to a patch of anemone flowers. She broke down into hysterical screams and sobs, hugging his blood-soaked form.
Wild accusations flew:
-Aphrodite blamed Apollo, who had been hurt over Adonis leaving him for her.
-Apollo suspected Artemis was not over Adonis' archery commet.
-Aphrodite also blamed Artemis, because Artemis was still angry at Aphrodite over the death of Hippolytus.
-Persephone blamed Aphrodite for the overall situation.
Oddly enough, nobody seemed to think to accuse Ares, who went in secret to confront the boar: "I never said to KILL him!" Ares, in an attempt to appease Aphrodite, then slew the boar and announced to the other "gods" that he had avenged Adonis' murder. Aphrodite threw herself into Ares' arms, and for once, the male pegasus was regarded a bit of a hero. Something that had never happened in Ares' life... and he realized how totally undeserved it was.
There was not much time to brood on this, however, as very shortly after this incident, The Great War between the Greek "gods" and the Egyptian "gods" erupted... followed by a good portion of them disappearing from the world...
...only to reappear 5000 years into the future in Diamond City.
By wild coincidence, living in the city at the time is 18-year-old Aden Jamal Shafer, a male fox who just so happens to look exactly like Adonis...

*Takes one look at Adonis and faints*
You made this guy such a hot sexy hunk that I am so jealous of you right now because you were able to make him so hot, sexy, and handsome! J/k
I do recall hearing about a mythical being who was so handsome that his face had to be hidden. Sounds a bit like Tyson.
Man, this is such a hunk that I can see why everyone just took one look at him and fell in love with him, even as a cub. So handsome that others became jealous of him. It's a shame that he had to die. What a waste of a perfectly sexy figure. But interesting that years later, another fox looked like Adonis. Hmm, what could that mean.
Seriously, this guy has to be one of the most sexy looking guys that you ever drew. His face is perfectly gorgeous. His body is the perfect structure. Not too buff and not too thin.
And his chest looks stunning, and his abs and navel look tasty.
He is just perfect! Perfect! Perfect! PERFECT!!!
I hope you draw more of him.

Dude, I can't thank you enough for pretty much confirming that I have succeeded in my endeavor at making this guy worthy of being called "The World's Most Beautiful Male." I went through a *lot* of trouble of getting Adonis to look *just right*, and I'm quite happy and relieved to know it all paid off.
I vaguely recall myths like that too, although I can't remember any specifics... but HAH! Yes! Tyson is so handsome that he might have to cover up to keep people from falling in love with him... ah, who are we kidding? It's too late now, he might as well just wear that tiny white speedo 24/7 now. ROFL!
Oh yes, when you're so good-looking that you can get not one, but *two* goddesses to fall in love with you... although in the case of Persephone, it's ambiguous if she were romantically interested in Adonis or if it was just maternal love. But in my story, Persephone's feelings were 100% maternal; she raised Adonis from baby to adult like he was her own son. And she didn't want her little prince to get stuck with that hussy Aphrodite.
Although the only person ever recorded to be jealous of Adonis' looks was Ares... but even then, he was more jealous that Adonis had become Aphrodite's new favorite.
But you are right, his death really is sad. That's why I decided to just go ahead and have a lookalike character, because, after I finally created a portrait of Adonis, I didn't want this character to go to waste.
Awww, thanks again, dude! It really means a lot to me that you think that. Yes, while sketching, I realized it'd be best for Adonis to be both a "hunk" and a "pretty boy" type. Like I said, I went through a *lot* of trouble combining those two factors. Even when I finally got a sketch I liked, it still didn't fully satisfy me. After a I scanned and colored it, the drawing still looked weird to me: the arms, shoulders and upper chest was too bulgy while the waist was too skinny, so that he looked all wobbly. So I made the arms/shoulders/chest smaller while widening his waist. After I was finished, he looked perfect, and here we are.
I believe I shall. ...Maybe I'll draw a picture of him and Apollo kissing.

Well you do have a real talent for drawing sexy characters.
True, but that may change a bit now that Tyson is married to Jason, and has a son. He'll be wearing his wedding ring to show it.
Well it was worth all the trouble because you made him gorgeous. And I would love to see him kissing Apollo.

Awwww, thanks so much! You do too!
Ah, that's right. Gotta take that into consideration. x3 Well, he can wear just his ring and his speedo/briefs. All he has to do is keep his left paw raised so everyone can see his ring.
Awwww, thanks again! I shall have to draw that as soon as possible.

Wow, he looks very handsome! Loving his colors (for his eyes, fur, and outfit) and that expression makes him look a bit sweet and innocent for some reason

Thank you very much! Heh-heh, I went through a lot of work to try and make him seem worthy of the title "World's Most Beautiful Male," and I think I succeeded somewhat. But I'm also glad he comes across that way. Aden (the one who actually appears in the story) is supposed to be likable, since he ends up receiving a lot of attention.

Well, it's setting up certain dynamics/relationships that are going to come into play, yes. Don't want to give away too many spoilers, though.

Thank you! And he (Adonis) doesn't even appear in my story. Although his history does affect a lot of characters who *do* appear.

Vaguely. But he has no idea that he looks so much like Adonis, as nobody ever recorded what he looked like.
I discovered that there actually is a swimsuit/underwear brand named "Adonis," and I'm thinking about having Aden be a model for that brand, as a fun little coincidence.

D'awwww, thank you so much, dude! Just the kind of reaction I'd want for him, seeing as how he's supposed to be "the most beautiful male in the world."
Fun fact: when coming up with what species Adonis should be, a friend suggested a peacock, but I ended up deciding to use that for Narcissus. Then it occurred to me to look up the most popular species among furries, and right at the top were wolves and foxes. I chose a fox since they tend to be "softer" than wolves, for lack of a better term.
Then I looked up and discovered a "golden" fox on google images. I tried looking it up again to show you, but can't find it anymore. But either way, it had a striking pattern, so I decided that was the one to base Adonis off.
