History: (is it too long?)

Melinda grew up in a well-organized house with her mother, father, older brother, and younger sister. Though Melinda’s childhood was filled with flowers, smiles, and pretty dresses; there was always the problem with her mother. A strict, nagging woman who was desperate to get her children married to a rich man, or a man of a high class. This fact always seemed to loom over every happy moment that Melinda can remember of her childhood, except for one happy joyful memory that could have never left her. That would be the daily trips to the bath house.

Whenever Melinda went inside the local bath house she immediately became calmed from all the obnoxious stress from her mother, and would try to spend hours in the bath house. As usual though, Melinda would eventually have to leave and go back to the house.

One day, Melinda had just had enough with her mother, and decided to make her own bath to relax her as much as the bath house did. Melinda tried to make the bath by using, the wash tub, some water, grass, mud, worms, and clovers, but by the time she finished the creation, the bath was nothing more but a muddy not so relaxing tub of glop. With a sigh, Melinda sat down, and with nothing better to do, began to poke it with a stick. While poking the stick though, Melinda did not see her brother sneak up behind her. With a gentle motion, he placed a book beside Melinda, a book titled “The Perfect Cure; What You Need To Create the Perfect Baths.” Once realizing the book was there, Melinda squealed with joy and began reading the book, learning more and more about the process of bath making.

Month by month and year by year, Melinda slowly began to get more and more books from her brother to read as she started to learn more about baths. Melinda’s fascination became so strong that she always seemed to be locked away in some distant land, and all those years of strict teachings from her mother slowly slipped away into oblivion. Eventually after having to deal with this new “thing” in the mother’s life, she cracked, and told Melinda that she was useless to her and should leave immediately. Hearing this news as she was mixing some herbs, Melinda slowly turned around, smiled, and curtsied, before dashing out of the room with an already filled suitcase. Once out of the house at age 16, Melinda knew immediately where she would go for employment.

The bath house owners were a kind couple who seemed to have always loved every single one of the customer they had, and they would always try to help anyone they could. Whether it be a home for someone going through tough times, or whether it was someone looking for an employment. Melinda was no exception to the loving couple, and so for the next few years, Melinda worked night and day at the bath house. The girl ended up loving every minute of her work until a letter arrived in the mail from a place from Lucine asking for her to be a bath house manager. Uncertain whether to go or not, the bath house couple smiled and said “We can always get another assistant, but being a bath house manager in Lucine will be a much better opportunity for you.” and with those words, Melinda set off to Lucine.
