In layman's terms: "Pick your work ethic up from off the ground, stop abusing welfare and get a job, you lazy bastard", which is what needs to be said to a lot of people nowadays.

Amen. Don't just senselessly give money to the poor people, give them JOBS! Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime. Same principle.

I noticed that a lot of people that get paid by the hour tend to be slow and slack off on the job so it takes longer. . .
And instead, I just go as best as I can, get it done ad soon and good as possible.
I still have yet to find anyone who is paid by the hour that has the same ethic as me O.o I always was taught, just do as best as you possibly can and dont dawdle, and ya know what? I'm happier when a job is done and I know I've done my best than if I lazed around and got paid more.

That's probably why my mom and I were two of the hardest workers at Walmart. I used to work there with her in the dairy department and grocery at night because there were so few night shift workers, and we were always complimented for our efforts (We were hourly associates). We had work ethic while some of the others just slacked off. Not all of the others, but some did.

Right, you're supposed to do the very best you can. Laziness is selfishness.

I'd absolutely love to have a job if I could find someone who'll give me one.

Most of the people I know on welfare or unemployment are actually either working poor or can't find a job. And many of them frequently suffer from no food, electricity, telephone, and/or fuel at times because they can't afford all of the bills. There's layabouts with easy rides to be sure, but not as many as the public perception likes to think.

Well, I will admit that we do have a poverty problem, but I think most of the welfare ABUSE (keyword) comes from illegal immigrants. i know that many people use the welfare system for legitimate reasons and some actually hate being on it. (A relative of mine was on it and hated every minute of it because she felt like a freeloader even though she was tying her best to get a job and get by. She eventually did and is happy now, so at least that story has a happy ending.)

Considering the amount of checking I had to go through for my own support, the fact that illegal immigrants can get on welfare at all is an abuse, agreed. They just need to get the officials enforcing the regulations better.

But yeah, I too hate being on Unemployment and such. I'd much rather have a job... partly so I can feel useful again, partly because even a minimum wage job would pay better, and partly because the process of getting paid from a job is so much less of a headache. Most of the people I know on welfare/unemployment feel the same way; they'd rather have a good-paying job if they could land one.

Well, at least there's SOME work ethic remaining in today's society.

Jeysie In reply to MetalShadowOverlord [2010-05-16 21:07:47 +0000 UTC]

That and the fact that being on welfare/unemployment is often more work/stress than an actual job would be, once you factor in all of the paperwork and inadequate levels of money.

Well, I'd prefer a lighter back pack compared to my over fifty pound now. And considering I am only 90 pounds, even if I get stronger that's still not going to work well

And a lighter back-pack means less hmwk

"And a lighter back-pack means less hmwk"

XD True!

wisekidk In reply to MetalShadowOverlord [2010-05-12 22:20:39 +0000 UTC]

And another thing too, I have like over four hours of hmwk each day, and I get home at like 4, so I am constantly working until I have to be up in my room. (It's more for my sister than me. We just have to be up in bed but not asleep) So if I ask for a stronger back, that's not going to go anywhere

Well, a strong mind is just as important as a strong back.

No, it seems to be making my mind weaker seeing how I am staying up till 1:30 to make sure I have everything done and then getting back up at 7:00, earlier ;w;

MetalShadowOverlord In reply to wisekidk [2010-05-12 22:52:39 +0000 UTC]

Love it! So very true! There are so many people complaining about hard work! Just get up and do it! (almost) Everyone else does it!
(stop standing on every corner, holding signs, using porps (like dogs XD) and begging for money! Get out there and WORK if you're suffering so much! (I'm pretty sure half of those people are better off then most working people! It disgusts me...) DX

YES YES OH HELL YES.
I don't want my parents tax money to be going to welfare. Some people will use it for food and to get on their feet, yes? But OTHERS might use it for drugs. |v

Welfare if ok, but when so many people abuse it, it just becomes harmful. Unfortunately, that's exactly what people are doing: Abusing the system.

It bothers me, it does.
They should find ways to regulate welfare, such as passing out food tickets or summat.
