Description
This is a sketchy ref for a critter I made up. I think what sparked the idea is that both hummingbirds and beetles are associated with being iridescent and bright green, and their flight is similar as well. (and yes, it does have multiple eyes and eight legs like a spider. Forgive me for mixing arthropods, haha)It was for the Avatar: TLA universe. It was purely a one-off metaphor for the original version of this poem: docs.google.com/document/d/1N8… which was derived from my fanfic www.fanfiction.net/s/5732344/1… I can't believe I took this long to get around to actually drawing it. Sigh.
Then later, the Rise of the Guardians came out, and I wondered if someone over at Pixar was inside my brain again (Tooth could definitely be described as a hummingbird beetle) like they were when Toothless had similar wings to this menollysagittaria.deviantart.c… Huh. Tooth and Toothless. Interesting coincidence.
The name Ralden = EmeRald + Walden. Because Thoreau is so much more uplifting than the Book of Thel.
