Description This is a wee drawing done for the The Fantastical Spectre Challenge! hosted by

Lets see Shepard is a terran marine in space hence he's a space marine and therefore made of win.

You can't fault my logic

Shepard belongs to Bioware
Space Marines are from Games Workshop

Good work.
But I can hardly call Shepard a Space Marine(Unless he's a member of Steel Hands). Too much augmentations/replacements of different types even for Astartes))

It's a joke because he wins against insumountable odds. Space marines are GWs fav team getting all the love and are made of WIN

But I still can't get rid off a feeling that shoulder pads look a bit "wrong angled". I always thought they were raised by hydraulics if they were restricting arm movements.

maybe the shoulders are a little off, then again he's not in an action pose requiring a lot of movement

The avenger is your starting riffle in each Mass Effect game. It is not a good gun.

What do you want from it? It's "jack of all trades" rifle. Other rifles are usually better, but they have their own downsides.
In terms of W40k it'll be very effective(in fact any weapon from ME universe will be). No kinetic barriers, penetration far beyond standart bolter and no ammo shortage.

It's no fun to fire. I prefer things like the Typhoon so I can feel like a machinegun Tank-God or a nice Mattock to nail them in the eyes. The Avenger just doesn't feel like it has enough power.

Red-Geist [2010-10-01 18:13:13 +0000 UTC]

This is good. Period.

Now if his N7 Armor had a backpack like the SM backpack (where the exhaust vents stretched to the back of his shoulders), where would the weapons go?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Methiston In reply to Red-Geist [2010-10-01 20:09:04 +0000 UTC]

ah, if it were Astartes armout then parts of the armour or guns would be magnatized

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Red-Geist In reply to Methiston [2010-10-05 02:31:12 +0000 UTC]

The problem is, the weapons would have to stretch diagonally across the backpack, and BioWare dislikes that since they don't want the weapon models to merge in-game (like flashy clothing phasing through skin in every conversation isn't common enough). Also, the Shoulder plates on the SMs reach behind them and would constantly contact with the weapons on their back.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Methiston In reply to Red-Geist [2010-10-05 14:20:27 +0000 UTC]

true but if the weapons were magnatised, then the pistol and sub machine gun could be attached to each leg. So then the rifle/ shotgun could be attached vertically on the back of his backpack. Or he could have a strap, since you seen that on some astartes models.

P.S. Marine armour has never really worked as a practical idea the joints are too small, the gorget to high, the shoulder pads too big etc. You really need to take the armour with a pitch of salt and use your imagination to make it work.

In saying that yes there would be modeling problems which is probably while the models only really look goot in RTS games where they are small and you don't really see the flaws.

If you ever find yourself on a forum called miniwargaming.com, I'm known for taking SM conversions to the extreme. I'm probably nearing an unhealthy obsession at this point, as I could give you a two-page rebuttal on how you can subtly change/tweak/modify the SM armor design. This can also be done with a healthy inspiration from things like Mass Effect 2, Halo: REACH, and any other Sci-Fi franchise with a customizable player armor with multiple permutations.

Their is also a factor in these things called "The Sci-Fi Bullshit Factor", this can be accountable for nearly any error in things like the SM armor design.

lookin good, it must cost a bit though. Since GW stopped it's bits catalogue you must have to buy many boxes to get the sprues

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Red-Geist In reply to Methiston [2010-10-06 22:29:30 +0000 UTC]

Perfect Solution: My local GW has a bitz box/ junk bin. Heard of it? Then you know what I'm talking about. Never heard of it? It's a simple box held in a GW store where bitz that have been cast away by the local community and the store's caretakers. There is only one rule to this box: put two bitz in (of any size) to take one bitz piece out. Now if you collect plenty of bitz from other Loyalist SM Chapters and have no use for Iconography bitz... Let's just say I'm a "generous benefactor"...

nice idea, my own local GW doesn't have that, that I am aware of anyway.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Red-Geist In reply to Methiston [2010-10-06 23:12:40 +0000 UTC]

If you tell your local GW about it, maybe they'll start it up, maybe you can start it up. All you need is a pile of... well any GW product to start a bitz box.

I suppose that would depend on his background, if he's goodie 2 shoes then probably an Ultramarine successer chapter. otherwise he could be something more interesting.
