Well, out of those that took the Oath, he WAS the last elf standing...

I love that you drew Maglor being a fierce warrior, you're right in that that's a side of him that people tend to overlook. I know I read in one of the History of Middle-Earth books that he was a fantastic and lethal archer, which I always thought was cool--harpstrings, bowstrings, he's just awesome like that. Also, I love how you made all that gore look . . . adorable. It's hilarious and very well-drawn.

Aw thank you!
Ooh which volume of the HoME was that mentioned? It's been forever since I read it (due to the fact that is in storage )

I loved your rambling, and I totally agree with it. He surely must have had a "strong warrior" side too. Just not as much as the others perhaps; But still
Once again, amazing colors! And all that blood looks so vivid. Good job!

Thank you! Glad I'm not alone on this. It just seemed like his character wasn't always being done justice (moreso in fanfiction than in fanart from what I have seen)
Hehe the blood was pretty fun to draw....

You are most welcome, my dear!
Hm.. Let me contact my Valar Gods to ask them.. *theatrical waving of hands... Smilingofthehealer prepares and... *
...Calls Vala on cellphone: " Hi there! Is is wrong if one chibi work that's bloody and that's supposed to be at least a little bit sad is so damn cute to me? That I do squeeing sounds when I look at it, and only I can think * awww, it's so cute*?"
"..."
" Well? "
" I keep right not to answer.. "
" Well, then, is it wrong if to the one to whom I said I love it says it's very dear compliment? "
Suddenly, Vala sighed tiredly: " Send me link at deviant, I'll decide when I see it... "
I send link.. And wait... And wait...
Finally, Vala calls, and can't come to himself from excitement:
" IT'S SO CUTE!!! WHEN MORE ARTWORKS ARE COMING OUT?"

That conversation had me giggling for a good five minutes!
Wow.. that would be so amazing/ flooring/intimidating/hilarious if the Valar did see all the silly and cutesy Tolkien fanart there is

And I needed only two to came up with it!
Well, you can't deny they would be thrilled by quite a bit of art. We all do our best, and intention counts
Besides, if they just take a look at your gallery, it would be constant source of *awww* sounds. I don't think you realize how I, myself, am deeply in love with your works. Your style is just amazing, and if Valar would see your works, they would definitely more than enjoy it and eagerly wait for more!

Of course, you *can* argue that the one moment of prowess in war that Maglor ever demonstrated came when Maedhros was in danger.
π: 0 β©: 1
MethodforMadness In reply to Gold-Seven [2012-05-14 21:53:08 +0000 UTC]
Very true. Maedhros was in danger a number of times ...so that would then beg the question, what was Maglor doing at those particular moments (excluding the cliff-hanging hostage incident)?

Gwailome [2012-05-13 08:08:24 +0000 UTC]
Bravo!! I'm applauding you no so much for the picture but for the text! How pissing off are those numerous presentations of Maglor as a weakling! ((( the one who was holding for 400 years the most dangerous part of the Siege!!!! Agrrr!

Thank you!
I know right?? It is written that he inherited more of his mother's temperament.Ok then. In the little bit of info we have on Nerdanel, it says she is firm of will, and sought to understand the mind (which leads to wisdom, wit, and cunning). That does not sound particularly weak. Now throw in whatever amount of FΓ«anor's attitude he inherited and what does one have? A stubborn, sharp yet wise individual with prodigious musical talent and a potential raging temper. A milksop? Methinks not.

The background and the colors are great, though I'm not sure about the physical accuracy of the flying head.
As for Maglor, well, he was a warior, no doubt. He was the last-son-of-Feanor to survive, and not by playing his harp and hiding. However, I still think he did regret killings that weren't necessary for survival.

MethodforMadness In reply to ninquetari [2012-05-14 20:27:22 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! I agree about the head; I think the problem might be I drew the blood spray incorrectly so the head looks closer than it is meant to be
One could not easily survive times like those if they were not a warrior to some degree XD.I think he did regret said killings as well; it just was not mentioned till a good while later.
On a side note, one thing I have always wondered was, in the Silm, why was Maglor not standing aside with Maedhros at Losgar? Caught up in the moment perhaps?

Thank you! I agree completely; it is an amazing work to begin with, and it just keeps getting better with every reading.
At first I was worried that I got a little carried away gore-wise, but battle isn't a pretty thing (for most) in the first place so....

Maglor, the living proof you don't want to piss off a bard!
Yet I find he just payed his due to Maedhros for the hospitality offered during the Dagor Bragollach. Moreover I' d like to point out how heads tend to be a very sensitive point during the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. Right Mr "White flame"?
XD
I don't really think Maglor would ever regret this specific head.....

XD Yes.. Mhh right after cliffs a poorly protected head is the fist cause of death for famous Noldor.
Go guess why were they considered the pinnacle of smithing! XD I can't fathom how bad the others were.
And Fingon had only to keep the helm Maedhros gave him, he brought it upon himself! Still he kept the shinies (like the Elessar), it' s called poor judgment boy. XD
Joking here, naturally.

An excellent observation!
I can't believe I hadn't thought of that before; if he had just kept the stupid thing and not given it away (ungrateful jerk XD) well, Morgoth might have ended up not be so pleased at the end if the day *headdesk*

valentis56 In reply to MethodforMadness [2012-05-15 16:15:21 +0000 UTC]
So the stupid thing ended up protecting the head of stupid Turin... On second thought, it may be that a long exposure to Maedhros gives people and objects a paroxysm of bad luck.
That could explain both the death of Turin (and most of his luck) and the death of Fingon. In that case our poor High King with golden braided tresses was doomed from the very beginning! XD
Sorry rambling queen here!
