Description
Inspired by my saying which came up in an IM yesterday.Face it, fandoms aren't serious business all the time. They're for fun. Come on, lighten up. Sure I like certain characters, concepts (fanmade or otherwise) or pairings and so on, but to sit and stew on the negatives is not what fandom is about. It's about having fun and finding people who agree with your opinions. You can laugh at your fandom (or with them) without being a horrible fan. It's the difference between getting offended at silly arts of your fave character and just taking it in stride and laughing at it. Just because you believe the character is otherwise doesn't mean there can't be some fun poked at them, ya know?
So laugh with your fandom and at it, but don't be a negative dick about it. Go find your fun and the people you want to share your fandom experience with. If Fans need to lighten up and that I will stand by. Sometimes I need to do the same too!
So seriously, unless it's meant to be a hurtful art or comment, then lighten up. <: ENJOY IT, DON'T MAKE YOURSELF MISERABLE.
I am not saying that if you don't laugh at certain things, you aren't a fan. I'm just saying some people need to lighten up and take things less seriously. Maybe you are a serious fan and like to be that way, fine. I'm not stopping ya. Just realize sometimes things you see are done for the laughs, not the pure hate.

The Eddsworld fandom is pretty cringey (though I avoid that side) but I'd say I'm still a good fan of EW

And people always ask me why I have a load of anti-Hetalia stamps in my faves.

Very good my friend. Though I will admit I can sometimes be a little "picky" with my parodies, there are ones I do enjoy, including some that just make me laugh my head off. That, and I also make up some parodies of my own, often with my friends who share common fandoms with me ^^

I totally agree! There's nothing more fun (to me) then poking fun at all my favourite characters, but that definitely doesn't mean I don't love them. I hate it when people just can't see the humour though and bash anyone who doesn't take it seriously.

XD Yeah I agree.
I'd say that if you're not all, "NO" and clawing people's eyes out a good percentage of the time, then you're most likely not too serious. People who flame, leave stupid bashing comments, attack others when they did nothing to deserve it, and the lot are those who need to lighten up.
I personally don't think those who don't take it seriously enough are a problem. XD They usually stay out of the way~
