Description
As the title says - a picture of all the Dragon Age cosplayers we managed to gather up on Saturday at Gamescom Cologne. There were probably a number of others around that we just didn't run into, but that didn't detract from the awesomeness of our big gathering. Seriously. It was epic. The picture is a little bit photoshopped:
- Added in Dorian and one of the Coles, because they arrived too late and didn't get into the group picture
- There was a different logo in the background, which I edited out. So then I was left with this big white wall... well, who could resist pasting the Dragon Age logo in there, right?
Anyway, from left to right:
Dorian - lehnzherr
Cole - thiives
Josephine - Minus10GradCelsius
Sera - ribbonandcrown / LeoCandens
Flemeth - Blackberry Cosplay
Ghilan'nain - me
Inquisitor - Yume Cosplay
Solas - see above
Inquisitor - LadyTenebraeTabris
Morrigan - zombietwin / straychild77
A Venatori - account-less friend of mine
Calpernia - bluewishdust
Inquisitor - idromy
Maevaris - thegrimshapeofyoursmile
Fenris - nightsinneon
Dagna - potpourris / VioletDoubt
Cole - visionify / falling-home
I'm trying to link all the cosplayers to their respective DeviantArt or Tumblr account, but things were a little too chaotic to get everyone's details. Just send me a quick note if you've got a link for me to add.
Likewise, if you're one of the lovely folks in the picture and want the rest of the photos, drop me a note.

What an awesome picture of so many awesome people. Thank you so much! I've a few more names for you: Calpernia is bluewishdust.tumblr and Fenris is nightsinneon.tumblr. Might I also ask that you link my tumblr acc instead of my deviantart (I don't use it at all lmao). I'm the Cole on the far right and I'm visionify.tumblr. Again, thank you! Oh, I also have a few more group pics in my cosplay tag on tumblr jfyi

Anyway, I have some more pictures stashed away here as well. You know, if you want one that you're actually in.

She ... changed into a dragon and took off? The usual, I'm sure lmao
Thanks! I'm always game for more pics. Might I perhaps repost that Cole² pic (with credit) to my tumblr?

Better start posting notices. "Have you seen this dragon?" I'm sure that'll get her to turn up.
And sure, repost stuff all you like. I don't even know who credit goes to, really. Cameras were getting handed around a lot. I think the Venatori lady took that one. ^^
The bane of all cosplayers, that. Can't pose and wield a camera at the same time.

I fear I'm shamefully underlevelled to face dragon!Flemeth, though.
Thanks! I'll just link back to your account since she doesn't have one?
Maybe we should start a trend: Thedas selfies. I'm sure Dorian would greatly approve.

Maybe Flemmy is in a good mood and willing to strike a deal? You never know.
Anyway, sure, happy to be linked. ^^
What Dorian would probably mostly use the smartphone camera for is emergency hair and moustache fixing. You know, after every gust of wind. *Dorian takes out camera and checks if he's still the prettiest.*
Envy demon selfies would rock, though. Really long arms.

You won't have to sell your soul to her. Probably. Almost certainly. Maybe.
Now we need an envy demon cosplayer just for that. Talk about a real challenge. You'd need a contortionist and starve them for a few months or something. >.>

And she won't even turn me into a dragon. I won't make the same mistake Hawke did!
Lmao don't give people any ideas! The photoshoots would be really awkward. Imagine having to pose with a demon for holiday snaps!

"And these are my holiday pictures. This is the new friend I made while I was sleeping. He's a little skinny but very friendly. And here we have some more pictures of him eating my soul and taking over my body, but don't worry, he does that to everyone, and he's really quite nice once you get to know him."
Four arms, too. Imagine how that would cut down on the photoshoot time if you can take four pictures at once.
Also, this long nested comment thing is very confusing. I just hit the wrong reply button and had to copy my reply over here. Clearly I am not qualified to use this thing. xD

Haha, I'm just replying via my reply stack. It can't be as confusing as tumblr. Then again, I'm never on deviantart so clearly ... I know nothing lmao I'm truly for completely derailing your comments. :'D
Well, at least that would make for an interesting holiday snaps presentation. Unless there's a templar among the audience. He'd probably take offence and treat you to a free trip to the nearest Circle. Fun times!

Mevanna In reply to falling-home [2015-09-08 12:38:19 +0000 UTC]
Yeh, it works fine except when you hit the wrong button. I mean, there is such a thing as just sending notes between accounts, but massive derailment in the picture comments is clearly more amusing.
I don't even know how it works on tumblr. Everything about tumblr just strikes me as very confusingly laid out. Can you even have conversations there? I mean, in any way besides nested comment stacks. ^^ I pondered making a tumblr account just to keep in touch with people, but my name was taken, so I grumped at it for a bit and left.
Mind you, if your holiday shots are of you hugging a demon, I don't think a templar would bother with the trip to the Circle and just accuse you of blood magic right there and then. And then maybe he'd test the accusations by poking you full of holes.
It's like witch trials. If getting stabbed makes you more powerful, you are a blood mage and need to be killed. If it doesn't, you're innocent, but you still just got stabbed to death.

So. Trespasser happened and I was too busy drowning in feels.
Aaanyway. Tumblr is probably just as confusing, yes (with the added bonus of being mildly enraging and really random), but it's what I sold my soul to in a moment of weakness so I'm at least used to it. The devil you know ...
Oh, templars are no fun at all. They probably don't even go on holidays but instead re-enact the witch scene in Monty Python's Holy Grail with every vaguely mage-shaped person they can find.

Mevanna In reply to falling-home [2015-09-12 07:15:33 +0000 UTC]
Oh god. The feels. Don't remind me. *quietly goes into the corner to cry*
Before it came out, I was entertaining a vague hope that maybe my Inquisitor would get a chance to join Solas on the Dark Side, but ah well... That would have been putting a bit too much of a strain on Bioware's poor writers for something very few people would actually do, I think.
Join the Dark Side, we have elves!
Ahem. Anyway.
I shall endeavour not to sell my soul to tumblr, then. Will just need a way to poke everyone when the time for the next Gamescom comes. Still hoping we can maybe do a slightly more organized version of the last one's gathering. One last hurrah, I guess, since it looks like we'll be getting no more Dragon Age stuff until some point in the distant future when the next one comes out. Sad.
Also, this templar business probably explains why even really old people in Thedas never use walking sticks. Anyone who does goes straight to the witch trials.

I romanced Dorian and ... yeah ... well ... I want to join Solas out of spite now tbh.
Definitely! It's a bit sad how there were lots more DA cosplayers around who didn't make it to the spontaneous meeting.
Not sure we'll be doing DA next year, at least not on Saturday but I'd totally revive Cole for another epic DA meeting. ;___;
It's probably because mage!Hawke hogs all the templar favours. S/he could probably perform blood magic right in the Gallows and templar!Cullen would be like 'lmao what a peculiar way to wield a sword.' Damn that Hawke, ruining it for everyone else!

Yeahh... funny how Solas gets all the shit for dumping you but Dorian doesn't. Maybe because he just does it in this offhand way. "By the way, I'm going to Tevinter, and I don't want you along. See ya."
Yah, I keep on seeing pictures of people who were there that I never even ran into. So much Dragon Age goodness missed. It's probably going to be a lot less next year, what with the game further from everyone's minds. Sad. But I'd like to try anyway, we shall see. Maybe with sufficient poking and making puppydog eyes at people.
Also, found Flemeth, didya see? I didn't even have to sell my soul to her or anything. Very peculiar. Maybe she has an off day.

Don't remind me. [gross sobbing]
I should have romanced Sera.
(I mean, I did also romance Bull but I might never recover. Oh, my poor tiny elfquisitor ...)
Never say never. DAI did wonders for Dragon Age cosplay. So many new people are playing the games and cosplaying older characters. It's like DA has become the new trend among cosplayers, which is absolutely amazing to see.
Well done! But we're still not any closer to becoming dragons. Why, Flemeth, why ...

Mevanna In reply to falling-home [2015-09-14 09:12:45 +0000 UTC]
You reminded me first. *Joins in sobbing corner* At least you get to see Dorian in Tevinter again. Solas is leading all the elves to their grand destiny and my inquisitor is not invited! No Solas, no elves, no hand, and no Inquisition. I think she's going to turn into a despair demon.
And the worst part is, after all the tragedy, all other romances just don't seem as interesting. If you're not sobbing through the end credits, it wasn't a real romance. xxD
And yah, I'm seeing a lot more Dragon Age cosplay around, but then I may simply be more sensitive to it now. It's not like I've ever really been paying attention to cosplay before. It is a pretty perfect game for it, though. So many pretty outfits, so many awesome characters. Plus, there aren't really any that are ridiculously skimpy or physically impossible, which you don't get in many games. ^^
Really hoping we can get people together for it, even if it's only in last year's costumes or something. Maybe Bioware will actually have a stall this time, it would probably make their day to see a DA procession. But still a lot of time until then, and I'll probably seem weird if I ask too early.
Of course, I can be a dragon anytime I want. Elven gods get all the perks. Little spirit boys only get all the hugs.

Yeah I get to see Dorian. Once in a blue moon when he isn't busy being a super successful magister.
Bitter, me? Never! Damn you, Dorian. Damn you and your sexy villain moustache!
(tbh I'm really trying to romance somebody else in my current playthrough but it's really hard. I never managed to in the first two games, either lmao)
Talk about physically impossible. I cosplayed Bethany a few years ago. I even knit her chainmail. From real metal.
Then I realised there was literally no way to fasten it the way she does. Just none. It's not possible. I had to make do with fake chainmail that was lighter.
And I don't envy the Dorian cosplayers at all.
I'll definitely let my peeps know that Dragon Age cosplay is a thing for next year's gamescom. My Cole cosplay was built to last so there's no reason why I can't wear it again. :'D
No, that's not true. Sometimes spirit boys get daggers. But I digress. [whistles innocently]

Hah. You can just go to Tevinter and camp on his doorstep. See how long his resolve lasts! I mean, you'll be in Tevinter anyway, it's practically next door, right?
(I mean, I know they need Dorian to be in Tevinter and doing his stuff regardless of romance status, so they have a good set-up for future games, but still... given that they're sending the Inquisitor there too, it really wouldn't have been hard to make him not dump you. Tch. Slightly lazy writing there.)
Also, tip for resisting the magic moustache: Play a female! xD
That got me in my first playthrough. I was so going to hit on Dorian, and then I found out he was gay. So I grumbled and went with the elf instead, because elf, right? Hah. Little did I know...
I did end up making a dude just so I could romance Dorian. And then a dwarf for Bull (because I thought that would be hilarious). And then... um... I may have made another elf so I could go hit on Solas again. No comment.
Ye gods, chainmail. My brother's making some for his Revenant costume, but that's just a small neck guard thing. Bethany does have considerably more chainmail. The sheer weight... phew. And it's attached to... the cloth? Somehow? Hmmm. Maybe with some kind of corset, or otherwise reinforcing the shirt so it can take the weight? But even then, the off-the-shoulders thing would probably become problematic, having to hold that kind of weight.
I'm having similar problems with my... uh, shoulder pads, I guess they are. On the Arcane Horrors in the game, that thing is actually completely free-floating. It doesn't touch their body anywhere. Talk about physically impossible. I think some padding is in order, or something.
Sadly, I don't have any peeps to call on besides the ones I met at the last gamescom, but it'll work out, I'm sure. And of course there could never be such a thing as too much Cole. Little spirit boys are the best.

Aaand once more sorry for the belated reply. I was at a con this past weekend. Not that it helped with my Dragon Age feels. On the contrary. I am doomed.
Anyway. I picture the inquisitor camping outside of Dorian's manor, determined to move in ... making a scene ... telling everyone how Magister Pavus once wore a red nutcracker suit to an Orlesian ball. That'll teach him!
Haha, I tried playing as a woman once. Oh my God, did I try. But I'm just not feeling it. Ah well, my loss. Plus, I actually managed to successfully ride the Bull (with a male elf - it was traumatising).
I feel like I'm in too deep, just like the Solavellan shippers lmao
On the bright side, I now have extra chainmail lying around! And I'm now an expert at making chainmail. Surely, these are the skills needed in life!
Maker's balls ... you're making Revenant and Arcane Horror cosplays? Let me love you! I absolutely love their designs. Every time I have to fight a revenant I'm just fangirling.
Anyway, with the way things are going now there won't be any shortage of Dragon Age cosplayers anytime soon. Connichi was positively crawling with them. It was awesome!

No worries. Cons are much more important. Also, very heartening to know that everyone is still obsessed with Dragon Age. Perhaps we should get together and form a conspiracy to take over world leadership? And then... something. Maybe put holes in the sky, you know how it is when you're a god and don't have much to do.
Also, what your Inquisitor needs are a couple of silk scarves, and then he can camp outside Dorian's manor doing a really scandalous dance. Dorian will be far too mesmerized to pay any attention to important magister stuff, and then the Imperium gets conquered by Qunari because he wasn't paying attention. Totally worth it, of course.
I've played as a lot of different things, gender has never given me any immersion problems in RP so far. It gets tricky once you have more than four characters and run out of new voices, though. Very odd to hear a new character use the same voice you've already come to associate with a different one. Still more characters to make, though. I cannot rest until I have done everything. Trying a manly elf with Cassandra now. Flirting is rather fun so far, what with Cassandra being so easy to fluster. Hard to resist flirting with Dorian, though. Tch.
On a side note, riding the Bull with a dwarf is even more traumatizing. He gets a little stool to stand on in cutscenes. xxD
Mmm, what do do with spare chainmail... Leliana, possibly? Or the Dalish Scout armour, I think. Or just wear it and be badass. Chainmail needs no excuse. ^^
And yup, all the demon cosplays. I'm the Arcane Horror, my brother shall be the Revenant, his girlfriend (the Venatori lady) shall be a Fear Demon. I am very excited about the costumes, though we'll probably end up running into walls a lot because the Arcane Horror and Fear Demon don't have any eye slots. I mean, we'll probably include some cleverly hidden small holes that allow us to see, but since it's fairly dark there and all... I'm sure much amusement shall be had.
Also, yay! Must find more people for massive Dragon Age flash mob at the next Gamescom. Probably someone at Bioware will see it and squee. ^^

Foiled again by real life and my tendency to forget Deviantart is a thing. I'm so sorry, I only really use this site to spam your comments lmao
I'm not sure I want to mess with the veil. It's rather unhealthy, I've heard, unless you're a certain bare-footed & bare-headed individual.
Also, I'm pretty sure that if my poor Trevelyan even so much as attempts to do a scandalous dance he'll spontaneously combust from the embarrassment of it all. Dorian will have to coax him out from wherever he's decided to hide in his shame, which is decidedly unsexy. And the Qunari will invade anyway. It's a lose/lose scenario.
I mean, I do play women (seldomly, I'll admit) but for some reason I can't even really explain (except maybe for unpleasant concepts like internalised misogyny) I just prefer rp'ing as males (also, I tend to get lazy if there's little variation in the story ... I only ever had two Hawkes and two Wardens).
I don't want to imagine Bull's first romance cutscene with a dwarf. I mean, how? Help?
I've the chainmail securely stowed away. All I need is an opportunity. DA4 better not disappoint lmao
Just thinking about someone even attempting to cosplay demons is amazing! Any ETA on when you'll be finished? Because I would like to subcribe to your fanclub.
Anyway, I've cosplayed Daredevil so I know your pain. I don't think I'll be doing cosplay that leaves me visually impaired outside of photoshoots again. It's just far too uncomfortable to wear on cons.

Hehe. Yes, I suspected it was something of the sort that caused your silence. Perhaps it might be cleverer to take this conversation to a more sensible channel than picture comments. xD
Also, I'm basically spamming my own comments, too. It's like self-promotion or something. If the number of comments counts as a measure of popularity. ^^
And don't worry about the Veil. I'm sure it'll be fine. The world was much better off without it anyway. Apparently. And a few roaming demons are good for your health.
If your Inquisitor isn't up to the task, he could always hire Zevran to do a scandalous dance in his stead. I can almost picture it. Oh dear. I can also picture Dorian facepalming.
Anyhow, I've known a lot of roleplayers who tended to stick to one gender of characters, it's a pretty common thing. One explained to me once that he found it easier to RP women because a male character would risk ending up as a sort of self-insert. Then there's others who feel they couldn't really get into the perspective of the other sex. Such is life. Personally, I only find it hard to get invested into romances with characters that I wouldn't be interested in myself. Makes as much or little sense as anything else, I suppose.
A lot of the cutscenes in Bull's romance just cleverly pass over the height difference problem by not showing your feet. Maybe in that first scene you're actually dangling from his grip? Or perhaps you're standing on a chair again. Or a box. You know, one of those companion cubes from Portal, with the little hearts on the sides? It would be perfect!
Let's hope your chainmail does not gather any rust before the next Dragon Age comes out. It had better come out! There may possibly be a mob or something storming their headquarters otherwise.
Also, wheee! I'm glad you like the idea of our demon schemes. I don't really know when we'll be done. I mean, the plan is to wear them for the next Gamescom, so that's plenty of time, but I've already started because it's fun and I've nothing better to do. My brother and his girlfriend are probably going to take it more slowly, though. I may end up finishing it way early and making something else just because I can. ^^
I certainly don't have a fanclub you can subscribe to, but you are free to, uh... make your own, I guess? xD
Jokes aside, I don't really have any sort of cosplay site or identity or whatever makes you part of the community. I mean, I've never done anything of the sort before, and only made the last costume because I wanted to see if I could. And now there's more, because... fun! But I'd be happy to share my progress if you like. It involves a lot of embroidery >.>
I suppose technically you could say you've cosplayed as a demon already. I mean, depending on whose definition of 'demon' you use. Or you could always take all your clothes off, paint yourself grey, and say you're a Desire Demon. Easy!
A Pride Demon would be extremely cool. Also, I really want to see someone do Corypheus and the Architect, but the facial makeup involved seems like it would be hell to achieve. (Also, a propos demon cosplay, someone did already do a Despair Demon at some point. Spotted a picture somewhere around DeviantArt.)
Of course, I don't know the pain of vision-impaired cosplay *yet*, but I'm sure it shall be memorable. I can start listing them in order of annoyingness. 'Bumping into walls' pain versus 'heavy headdress with an inconveniently placed centre of gravity' pain. The latter sort of tries to pull your skin off your forehead. Also, makes you look like you're permanently raising your eyebrows.

A more sensible channel? Where to, though? Facebook (and did I just call facebook sensible)?
Everyone will be astonished by the comments on that group pic.
Then they'll scroll down and realise in horror that there's two people spamming paragraphs of nonsensical Dragon Age talk. I see nothing wrong with this tbh.
I'm still kind of hoping that Solas hugely exaggerates and basically nothing will happen if the the Veil collapses. Or that we can drive him back by firing tea at him and recruiting an army of Seras.
My Warden would probably not approve of Zevran dancing for random Tevinter magisters. There might be the Thedas aequivalent of Kill Bill Sirens (yes, my Mahariel is quite the charming fellow). In fact, every party involved except for Zevran himself and the rest of Minrathous would probably take offence. I also have this theory that Dorian and Zevran cannot exist at the same place because the Veil would just give up right then and there.
I have that, too, that I won't play romances if the characters aren't that interesting to me. I'm not much of a completionist anyway. Like, usually play through every available sidequest but I won't try out decisions I don't like. I also have huge problems playing a really nasty character (though I'm getting better at it because of SWTOR) because usually the evil decisions just ... don't make much sense unless you're a Disney villain. I know people are complaining about not really being able to play an evil inquisitor but at least the 'negative' choices made sense within the framework of the story. Attempting to playing a renegade Shepard just felt like punching people and twirling an imaginary moustache.
Aw, and it's so nice of Bull not to mention the box a romanced inquisitor tends to lug around with them. Clearly, it's true love ...
It might be a while before we get any DA4 news, though ... *sighs and pets chainmail*
Oh wow, you've started early. I mean, we should be, too, considering my people and me want to do full Mass Effect armour for next gamescom (even though one party involved is like 'maybe we shouldn't don full thermoplastic armour in 40°C weather if we don't want to die' ... which is definitely a worrisome thought lmao).
If I had to cosplay any demon (ahem, spirit!) it'd be Imshael because he's the choice spirit of my heart. Plus, imagining all the people side-eyeing you for looking like the worst Anders cosplayer ever. Glorious!
I think Coryphyfish has been done, too. Stripey tights and everything. I've never seen a Warden on their Calling, though. That might be an awesome idea. *____*
Haha, funny how cosplay just ... takes a hold of you. Soon you'll be having a huge list of cosplays to do and every time you watch/play something new you're like 'I'M GUN COSPLAY ALL THE CHARACTERS.'
Also, the things you do for cosplay: stumble about half-blind, unable to sit down or eat for the duration of the con, can't move, can't use the loo, severe headache from hat/mask/wig.
Also also, I once glued my eyelid shut while making Cole's helmet. It was ... an experience.

Any site you check regularly can probably be considered a sensible choice of communication platform. If not sensible in other ways. But then, this is the internet. 'Sensible' is relative. xD
I mean, not that there's anything wrong with building massive comment trees and really confusing people... clearly this is what picture comments are all about. That and bad puns? Just trying to not keep forcing you to log into DeviantArt just for the sake of one conversation. Glad that you do, mind you. ^^
Anyway, um... facebook, I guess? Or email or something. Dare I link my real life identity from here? *ponders* Actually, anyone who reads far enough through that crazy conversation to find it probably deserves to know. xxD
Look up "Franka Malsch" on facebook. I'm reasonably sure nobody else has that name combination, plus I'm wearing my costume in the picture. ^^
I'm slighly confused by Solas' plan, myself. I mean, if he wants to tear down the Veil anyway, why is he all about closing the Breach and strengthening the Veil when he's with the Inquisition? Seems a little counterproductive. Since he says tearing it down will destroy the world and all... heck, the Breach was doing that already. Making it larger would be so much easier than closing it.
Presumably there is some kind of difference to which side you open the Veil from? Or maybe he's got some insider trick that Corypheus didn't. Or maybe he's just old and getting a little senile and none of his plans make much sense anymore. ^^
But yes. Tea. It is our new secret weapon. The Inquisition can just build massive tea cannons and fire them at the sky as a preventative measure. We will need all the armies of Thedas to spend all their time making more tea. We may have to start resorting to blood magic and necromancy just to raise more demons and corpses to help make tea.
A propos recruiting an army of Seras... Did you ever go through all the banter between Solas and Sera where he tries to teach her how to run a revolution? At some point, he tells her something along the lines of "Some members of your group will have joined solely for the sake of causing chaos. When your revolution has succeeded and you start rebuilding, you will need to redirect those elements to where they can do no harm." I laughed so hard at that. Telling Sera to watch out for people who are only in it for the mayhem is like Meredith telling a Blood Mage Hawke to look out for Blood Mages.
Also, as if disapproval ever stopped Zevran. >.> He'd do that scandalous dance just for the pleasure of watching his Warden go nuts. And also, everyone else going nuts and/or dying as things escalated.
Ooh! I have figured out Solas' plan! He will rip open the Veil by luring Zevran to Dorian's doorstep. It's so obvious really, I can't believe nobody has figured it out. No Anchors or orbs or big magical feats. It is such a beautifully elegant way to destroy the world. And to watch some scandalous dancing along the way.
I've made attempts to play characters who are jerks, but it's kind of meh. I mean, making evil decisions because of rationalization or just plain disinterest is ok, but just randomly being rude all the time for no reason seems weird behaviour. You're right though, it's much worse in Mass Effect, mostly because your conversation options tend to be the same thing said either politely or rudely. You barely ever get to choose what to say, just how you say it. And that makes picking the renegade option kind of pointless. It's much better in Inquisition, at least.
As for picking the perceived 'evil' choice in actual major plot decisions... eh, it varies. The writers tend to be pretty good at giving you a potential reason to pick the bad choice. Like in Origins, where Bhelen was a corrupt backstabbing jerk, but the fact remained that his political promises were just better than Harrowmont's. I didn't really get that with Celene and Gaspard. I mean, sure, Gaspard's military attitude might be more useful to you in the short term, but since he openly states he wants Orlais to become all aggressive and expansionist, nobody who isn't Orlesian themselves would support that. You don't really get anything in return for being evil.
Light/Dark side choices in SWTOR are amusing though, I concur. Especially since a lot of the time, the ones considered 'light side' for an Imperial character already count as evil for a Republic character. But the evil ones are really evil just for the heck of it. Especially if you're playing an Inquisitor (haha) and constantly zapping everyone with lightning for no good reason. Ahhh, the fun.
In that case, being pointlessly evil doesn't seem weird for some reason. Excessively abusing power over others just because you can kind of works.
As for starting early... heh, tell me about it. But it's just so much fun! Maybe I'll finish in a month or two and then use the remaining time to make something else. Never know, I guess. ^^
Mass Effect armour is always neat - you can probably assemble a fairly large group for that as well. I pondered it briefly back during my ME3 times, but sci-fi outfits have never really been interesting to me the way their fantasy equivalents are.
Also, full body armour. Welp. If you boil inside your armour I'll come over and tip cold water over you. ^^ Errrrm. I mean an ice spell. Of course. Being a mage and all.
Also, mmm... Imshael. He's one of those characters that are so cool you want to cosplay them, but they're just not wearing anything memorable or even recognizable! Grrr. Some demo--- spirits just have no understanding of proper fashion sense for evil masterminds. (At least Flemeth came to her senses between Origins and DA2. That makes me wonder if anyone ever cosplayed Origins Flemeth. Or Origins Isabela, for that matter. ^^)
A propos Warden on their Calling... there's a whole range of darkspawn too. Imagine the hilarity of trying a Broodmother. xxD
Perhaps the cosplay madness can be held back by not watching or playing anything new... *ponders* Um, or maybe not, I guess. I can quite happily spend and entire life's worth of madness on one game.
It's not too bad, though. I only get the urge to make outfits that I find really nice-looking, so I'm mostly safe. But I can still sew and craft my way through half of Inquisition, so there's that.
How did you manage to get glue in your eye? Had some on your finger, or just a really bad squirt? Maybe I should start wearing my lab goggles when glueing stuff. ^^
Also, is it just me or is the length of my replies increasing exponentially?

Well .... regularly check on. I mean I do use facebook but mostly I just turn up every few days and make frustrated noises at it because I use it so little that I don't know what's what. I've totally given up on updating my personal page but I use it for private messages, my cosplay page and the like. So ... I'm Jane and I just sent you a friend request over on fb. Let's see how it goes. It probably won't be as flashy as stress-testing the DA comment system, though. :'D
I think (mind you, I never romanced Solas so there's probably some extra info I don't know about yet) he wanted to close the Breach because Coryphifish was doing it wrong. Like, there's probably a specific way the Veil needs to be lifted and whatever happened at the Conclave wasn't it. Plus, the whole red lyrium debacle. And if you take him to Redcliffe Castle he's pretty much helpless to prevent what's happened within the year. That being said. I mean. Red Lyrium still exists, even after Trespasser. And I don't think any of that is Solas' doing. So whatever Solas is planning probably doesn't work anyway and we're all gonna die. Lovely!
Massive tea cannons. Cue to loud wailing from Thedas' aequivalent of every British household ever. Good thing Solas isn't allergic to cheese. Ferelden would rebel!
The Solas and Sera banter gives me life. Really, all we need for DA4 is Sera as the protagonist. Problem solved.
Whatever the sinister plan behind it, a Zevran and Dorian team-up is a frightful thought. Hide your sons! Hide your husbands! Maybe also hide your leather boots! Although Zevran and Bull would maybe be a match made in heaven ...
Lmao yeah playing renegade is Mass Effect is just ... instead of having dialogue options you just punch people. The whole thing was just trickier in DAI, mostly because it also gave you the choice to be incompetent and completely self-serving. And the thing with Gaspard and Celene. Did you read The Masked Empire? Because this is the one instance in which Bioware withholds information from you and punishes people for not having read the novels. Basically both Gaspard and Celene are utter arseholes but at least Gaspard is being honest about it. The whole thing is a clusterfuck of dnw and even if you're going for the seemingly best choice you're still being punished. It's actually pretty clever because it illustrates that the Inquisition probably shouldn't have that kind of power (=to be kingmakers) anyway.
Haha I'm just really into SWTOR right now (got back into it half a month ago but I'm actually a founder and everything) and I just love the different kinds of mood they use for the various class stories. Like with the Inquisitor you have mild snark, pragmatic snark and evil snark (with a side of lightning). The Jedi Knight has super privileged holy talk that doesn't actually help, stupid questions, and wtf am I doing in the Jedi order anyway (with a side of hitting people) and the Imperial Agent is generally made of awesome, whatever you say (which is probably due to Bertie Carvel). So is the smuggler, come to think of it. But never mind me, I'm totally in love with that game right now.
I remember when I started early on the Cole cosplay, too (like, months before the first con), and in the end I was pulling two all-nighters before FBM so I could finish the trousers and the belts and the shoes. Somehow it's always like that? Either I'm the worst kind of slacker or really bad at planning or that's just what cosplay means: screaming at your sewing machine while drinking 3 cups of coffee simultaneously in the middle of the night with only one day left to go until the conventions. Wouldn't be fun otherwise.
I've seen pictures of an Origins Flemeth, actually. But yeah, it's a bit of a pity with Imshael because he's just so amazing haha! To me he's just totally trolling everyone with that second-hand Anders outfit. Plus, he probably took over some crazy rebel mage who was a bit of an Anders fangirl. Good times! I generally love how Inshael and Michel turned up in DAI but both of them have such amazing character concepts that I wish there'd have been a bigger part of the story. Michel for DA4 companion (Imshael can come, too!)
I .... I'd probably stop going to cons if there was a chance of a Broodmother turning up. I mean, someone was walking around in a huge penis cosplay at Connichi and even that's more pleasant. D:
Haha, the glueing my eye shut thing ... it actually was a really bad quirt. There was a bit of pressure on the tube and when I opened it (not even like a complete idiot but all careful like and facing away from my face) and some of it ended above my eye (which was incredibly lucky). I was ... actually close to calling an ambulance but luckily my dad was home and he knew the 'dissolving glue with oil' trick. It actually worked but damn, that was scary. Then there was that other time when the needle broke of while sewing leather with the sewing machine and the needle tip hit me right above the eye, too. I really should invest into protective glasses lmao
So. Does this whole wall of text qualify as a short story yet or ... :'D

Heh. You're probably not missing out by not checking facebook much. Mostly it's just people posting silly videos, news articles and trivia about their lives. I mostly use it to keep track of uni deadlines. Usually people's panicky comments alert you to the fact that there's one coming up. But hey, I have an impressive ten timeline posts per year, apparently. Out of which only four were made by me, and three of those were profile picture changes. ^^
Anyhows, found you. Um... why am I still writing here?
It seems mildly weird to get a reply here and then answer somewhere else, but since we were taking pity on the poor DA comment system, here goes, I guess. See you on more sensible shores? xxD

My gawd, you are? *suppresses squee*
I may have to bring my Ghilan'nain costume again just for that. (Moar elven gods, dammit!) Just for a day, mind. I do have something different and slightly more sophisticated planned for next year. My brother, his girlfriend and me are working on three matching Dragon Age demon costumes. Should hopefully be fairly cool. Plus, you know... something you don't see very often. ^^

Yeh, they can be a little under-cosplayed, despite looking awesome. If you want to join in on the fun, there's always plenty of demon types left.
