Description "Well, I'm constantly compared to my youngest granddaughter and her sword skills, my wife and one of my grandsons are missing, and people have found my old photos using them as blackmail... I wish I could say I am well."

I made the lineart for this some little while ago, about some days, to get my art block outta meh head and just got to coloring it. You could say, and I'll admit, this is a little teense of vent art in some sense. It's okay though, it isn't hate art, oh no!

Noticeably as of late, if it isn't that Marth's performance in Smash has been acceptable for most people-- shorter ranger and all-- other things involving his family have seemed to indirectly shake things up over there, and I wondered how Marth may quell with these situations coming about. I mean, he's been more easy in taking things recently, but there can be those moments that can be a bit of a downer for him, no?

If that's not it, you can always see the pichur another way, nothing wrong with that~
He could just be contemplating over just about anything with some tea from the kitchen.

After all, he needs to keep little LuLu well, Marth promised that her father shouldn't have to worry about her.
. . .Or, this could've come from my occasional joking of calling Marth "grandpa" and making light old-jokes.

Hm~ I've been having a rough time myself, I think still? So if that seemed to have slipped through in my replies these past few days, I do apologize in advance. I try not to let things that normally prickle me to cause any snapping back. Gotta keep it to myself. ( o ,o);

I have to go to the hospital tomorrow, so... ( ' -');

That's probably what Marth was feeling at that time. Maybe he just needs some time to relax a bit.

After trying to use him to get a perfect in Target Blast (since I'm doing it with all the characters) ... Well, to give you an idea, I got the perfect on my first try with Lucina. With Marth ... Millions.

MewKwota In reply to zwataketa [2015-09-30 00:24:49 +0000 UTC]

Uhh, I'm not sure what you're getting at, rather than the indirect saying that you prefer Lucina over Marth.
Okay, kyuulio? I don't mind anyone who does, though I'd rather not have it smudged in my face like I do 24/7.

I know, I know~ We ALL love Lucina. Do I have to admit that Marth sucks? I actually like using him more and respect that others don't, is that so hard to say?
I think everyone assumes that when I say this, I'm shunning Lucina mains, I don't understand the suggested correlation.

zwataketa In reply to MewKwota [2015-10-16 02:53:15 +0000 UTC]

It's mostly in terms of gameplay. I kinda got scarred after having to take millions of tries to get Marth's perfect on a target blast stage, when for Lucina it took only one try. Granted, as of recent I've actually mastered Lucina and moved on to actually being able to competently play as Marth, so I don't hate playing as him anymore.Β

I have fun time trying to inteprete this - getting too old as a long-time "Champion" from previous Smash-tournaments, or just his reception around him and Lucy when talking about their potential?Β  And then there's also the matter with his family, like you said. Poor Marth, can't really say much to help him. Give it time and maybe take time to just appreciate what you got as of now?

Are the photos the rocking Marth-photos? Whatever it is, that doesn't really sound great for Marth. (-Γ³^Γ²-);

This pic gives such solemn feel and food for thought overall, can't help but basically feel same expression as he does here. Possibly because thinking how becoming "old" can feel anxious by quite bit. Along with Marth's other troubles as well - but life has to stay fresh.

Also, little headcanon time from my point to here: I decided to make Celice not only have a long-time friend in Cless, but also Sakura from Sakura Wars . You might have seen her also in Project x Zone, and from what I've noticed, her series are quite big and very well-done in Japan, and have started to appeal to me now because exemplifying friendship and bonding times amidst working as a team in WW1's more romantic settings back in Japan.

So I though if Marth visited Celice and took time to talk about those things while this very sweet girl also versed in tactics (through mechas) and swordsplay would be one to serve the tea here. I mostly went with the fact that she and Cless were designed by the same famous manga artist, but it started to click in even better when considering how Celice was a Swordsmaster in Awakening due alluding to him living his childhood in Isaach under fostering of Shanan and Oifey - and Sakura uses a katana ("Reiken Arataka") which she's shown to be quite powerful with. So I wanna imagined both training each other now and then as sparring partners.
Might also be because now and then I notice how bit popular it is to put oriental-like feel in Celice's official or unofficial art - even you did that once!

From my personal competitive standpoint, it's been apparent that Marth was kept continuosly toned down until Sm4sh, but as of late, with every buff he received, it's like his old potential is about to creep back in. His Jab is immensely fun to utilize for putting foes to tipper range, and his U-Tilt's quite great to utilize for combos or anti-airs. Quite better overall on him, if I can say so myself.

I want to think it's like letting him and the balancing team to take baby steps with him to ensure he can be brought back to his fan-favorite status in the competitive scene. Though IDK, Marth having to feel like he's "too good" to be balanced into nerfs would kinda put him down, basically because apparently his amazing prowess with swordfighting seems to make him shunned more than proud.

Also, if I can be frank, by every good step Marth takes for better, so does Lucina. I want to think that she basically is still Marth's apprentice still, growing in her own skill that is clearly after the legendary Hero King, both from her lore and that of Smash-tournaments.Β  I just tried Lucy again and she's actually even better than before too, thanks to things that was also given to her as well from Marth. At this point I think it'd be bit weird to talk about who is better than the other, and rather see Marth and Lucy as the teacher and apprentice fighting for better representation of Lowells, along with the whole continent through time that Ylisse and Archanea.

Ahhh~! I remember Sakura from a long yonder back, my cousins-- the same ones to got me into Spyro-- borrow animes from their local library many times, and one time they brought in Sakura Wars. And while I recall very little, I do remember her face. ( ' v')b

Anywho-- ahem~!!
You can basically interpret this however you wish, as always~ I really was going for the latter, but it can go many ways.

And while I totally have nothing against Lucina personally, it's just the constant bickering amongst us fans about "who's better" and so forth. So with the nerfs-n-buffs going about, it's like some crazy fight outside the battle about who tops.

Otherwise, I can easily see Marth teaching little LuLu to fight as well as him, they're family after all and they really have no place or reason to fight against each other-- over things like tiers and junk. So, he's probably proud of her and her learning, but the price seems to sadly come with put-downs on himself.

Knowing Marth, I don't think he'd put the blame on a child, let alone his descendent.
I guess Marth has been around long enough to know what's coming, and yet it never quells well with him.
The commenting, I mean.

As for us, if people prefer Lucina, then by all means. I don't mind it, nor have I ever strongly.
I just don't like yacking over favorites, it always makes me feel like I'm hurting someone else's feelings, say that of another fighter's or something.

IndyGoNagaretton In reply to MewKwota [2015-07-21 20:47:30 +0000 UTC]

My-my, she's an old face? How neat~! (~^u^~)

How strange, though - just a day ago my another friend mentioning owning one of her mangas when talking about the series. I guess my possible guesses on Sakura Wars-games having enough influence to live by the many supplementary material outside of Japan seems to hold a lot candle here.Β  Hmmh~

I had bit similar memories of seeing first faces of Mega and Pit (and Simon) through one of the VHS's brought in once that advertized Captain N.

But on Marth though, yeah, that's kinda sad really. Being seasoned veteran can bring such thoughts now and then. Could imagine that with the big guys in the competitive scene now and then, and they admit it's practically that with so much preasure and hate thrown about now and then. I already read how someone sent a death threat for one of the top Melee-players placing himself as the champion by use of camping back in Smashboards.

I guess because it's really dependant on the competitive spirit of the one who wants to play these characters. If wanting to be the very best, then you need to, as much as it hurts, face the facts, and possibly use a good character, incase you truly want to learn to win, and be able to grow as a better fighter.Β  I think this quote from ORAS's Battle Resort NPC sums it very well.

Mostly it's because you can start to tackle those "high-tier" characters better more and more when being able to stack on them, and truly learn what makes them tick in their best and worst - applying it to your own knowledge and thus, future skill. It also lets you view up your potential as a player overall, as by using it lieu characters' strengths, while making up for their flaws, will tell you what you truly need to work on overall, thus preventing any blame on the characters that you just happened to lose with.

Β  Like from my experience, I've grown better enough to wreck people hard as say, Lucy through playing Marth very much and well to, while getting better match-up knowledge to harder characters through starting to main Pikachu, my long-time Smash-character since 64, again. Since well, Pika's in his most best prime in this installment. He brings a lot out of skill too, which is satisfying, and lets me gauge how to tackle certain difficult characters with those that are deemed "average" or like. Quite proves me that it's all up to the adaptation of the player, and how willing to use what is on hand to one's development and understanding of the core game.

So TBH, some people will feel bit hurt when still knowing that some chars are not as good as they can be - but at the end, it only applies on how skilled players are with them, and if it ultimately tells that they are good or just plain suck. (Where thus gladly enough, balance patches exist for today)

Β I mean, it can get especially messy when false claims about the characters prowess (both good and bad) are thrown around out of defense or poor judgment (which I've seen a lot with Marth VS Lucina-wars back in SB)Β  It's not very beneficial to a healthy community of players overall, preventing us to see how well these characters can truly perform with enough effort, practice, and discovery put into them by these fans.Β  Not to mention, it can give bad way to for certain chars to be buffed or nerfed overly if thrown too much (I wonder if Diddy was suspected to this due getting another nerf last update ago, as he wasn't being that bad, but now he's almost mediocre unless under very top-play).

All people want to play Smash to have fun, both casually and competitively, and while bad attitude from some top players/elitists aren't very beneficial to the Smash-community, it ain't helpful to ride on coattails of that when talking about character favoritism, etc.

Back on the tiers vs favorites-talk, "tiers" or like are not honestly "main-to-win"-guidelines, but more like telling how much prowess each characters have in their most top play they can get - and even with some, it's not even known how much have, considering how this game's still like, under a year old. Plenty keep saying this for Princess Peach, and I can see what they mean by how technically deep she is still to many, meaning possibly difficult-to-calculate learning curve.
Also, they can indeed tell if someone is too much to the rest, helping the development team to even it out (like for Diddy, and I hope for Sheik, as her presence is kinda becoming grating - but what can I say, since people want to win, and there's nothin' wrong with that.

So yeah, my thoughts on this. I want honestly to see just how much can be given for these characters and what amazing playing and skill all can bring out when applied to the very best or even just most beloving. With balance patches though, it can be quite feasible to see more glimmering hope and renewed interest on certain characters, which means less " tier favoritism wars" - though it might now shift on development team playing "favorites" because "Sheik's too good, better nerf Diddy Greninja".

I couldn't say it any better, by goodness people can take things rather far can't they? ( ' ~');
Though, this isn't exactly a new thing is it?

But indeed~! Even if it's a small knowing, I am familiar with recognizing Sakura at least!
I'm sure that would be a lovely moment to share, especially since she could be in town because of PxZ. Is she back in the new one?

Though back onto the Smash topic, competitive or casual we really all are just trying to have fun, one way or another. So yes, aside from the super serious elitist-thinking, this character poking shouldn't really be such a big deal. I guess it's too bad that some jokes can stem from these sorts of talk.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

IndyGoNagaretton In reply to MewKwota [2015-07-21 21:16:42 +0000 UTC]

They can, yeah. It's why I sorta want the community to keep contributing and growing, if ever a chance.

Still, like ya said, it's nothin' new - seems basically a tradition at this point. We can only poke fun at it like we usually do. (-Β΄<>`-);

And yes, Sakura actually is - she got revealed back in the last trailer, I think? The fact that not only they didn't bring her and her old teammate, but also 2 new characters from the series had me perplexed, as it meant 4 chars taking what could have gone for other series I wanted to see (like Puyo Puyo) - but thus, this piqued my interest on SW-series itself. I just hope we see others, but not that I mind getting into a this cult favorite series in Japan that has been so long-running.

Mostly I had it with that she was with the other two for the time she worked on her first game (or longer time), and then moved when things would build enough to have her have something like her own "team" so she'd then move to a place nearby there. But yeah, her being around again due PxZ would feel quite plausible, actually. Reuniting with her old friends, aww~! Cless would possibly direct her to Yuri Lowell again, and this time Flynn Scifo who joins him.

Other than that I imagine Celice being that big lady-flirt he is around her for playful teasing. Heh~ .

Well, as long as it doesn't really prove entirely harmful, I can take 'em. But I'm at least glad that there's a lot intelligent people out there to help clear out such misnormers with subject as this. I try my best to contribute to that as well with my newfound knowledge and growing skill.

Lucina feels exactly like Marth to me, and I've mained him since Melee. I really would prefer the fighter with a tip-tactic.
