Description Okey-dokey. So, did anyone remember that ugly splurge of me posting journal entries regarding a certain set of Newcomers? ( . _.);
I was really just talking about one of the last three guys, and yes this is the last one, buddies.

So then... If I may be real frank just this once?
--
I don't like this guy. I'm genuinely devastated to hear that he's in. I mean, at first I was really excited to see him canon in Uprising, but after a while I grew tired of him-- as well as another person I don't wish to name here for the sake of being burned alive-- and his personality for some reason. The least I can think of is because he makes Pit look like such an idiot, but then I think everyone makes him look like such. But I won't go off on a tangent with that topic.

And if that wasn't enough, he's basically a clone of Pit-- I mean this in Smash's case albeit elemental differences and Final Smash, but that doesn't change Luigi's status as a clone in Melee and 64, right? I normally never have any issue with clones period, that is until I got too involved in reading the info of Smash 4, but... He's really just a glorified alternate outfit that I personally felt could've stayed that way, seeing that Mr. Sakurai and developers proved that they can change names and announcements (namely, Alph with Olimar) to work things out with different characters as costumes. Perhaps there was a sense of bias for certain characters, like what occurred with Lucina.

Again, I don't mean to say that thou must all heed my words and agree with me thus forcing yourselves to change for me. This has nothing to do with me losing out on Chrom, as I want to forget that ever happened so you don't need to bother with consoling me-- I'm not much to worry over in your time.

I am merely just saying my meager opinion, with what little value it means anyway. I won't belittle him for no reason, nor will I pick on him due to my bias-- that's downright low as a fan who would love to be as open as possible while still holding an opinion. Those who wanted Dark Pit in have a right to be happy about it, and I am in no way trying to smother out their joy. So, hip-hip-hooray, right?

Huh, I really expected this to be a lot more verbal, but I held back a little. I'm completely done now.
--

*phew-sob* Now that Inno has said what she's wanted to, I hope that clearly shows that I am only human and will have the capacity to stress and be mean... Even if I don't want to, but it was bothering me so darn much. Auuugh--! ( ; ~; )

Okay, bitter-batter over.
I am surprised at how much work I tried putting into Dark Pit-- or Pitoo take your pick-- and his face especially. Otherwise, I will say upfront that I got lazy at the feet. I have an issue drawing those, along with the thong sandals themselves.
(Uh-huh, that's what they are called, ladies and genji-mon~)

As for his colors, it was tricky to make sure the wings and half-scarf were as close to the original artwork. I had to work with the Uprising picture, since the Smash render isn't officially out yet, but I don't think it should be that different.
Oh yeah, I'm sorry his crossed-arms are really nubby. I really am not sure what I did there, that pose is a little confusing. ( o -o)"

But now, my Smash 4 Newcomer Challenge is basically complete.
I didn't wimp-out surprisingly, but I feel bad that some of the characters look off-ish though I put effort into each of them-- though this may be because they could have been first-time-sketches of said Smashers. Regardless, it was an interesting push on myself to see a variety of characters and to get myself to draw them at least once.

And to repeat if I didn't enough, I sincerely apologize if my bitty rant was rather harsh. If it helps, I always regret being mean.
I'll just see myself out now.

[EDIT]: I regret drawing this kid sometimes, but it was for the Challenge. Honestly, I keep coming back to this because of convos-n-whatnot, and I don't like keeping things unreplied. I guess that's my problem, huh?
At least tell me something I don't know. Okay, now I'm really done with him since he's out. 'Key-bye. ( " -");

Uhh, yeah, I am aware. I must have forgotten to mention that when I was talking to my friend here. ( o -o);
Nevertheless, that doesn't really change his position as a clone much.

I understand you not liking Pittoo, although I can't help but point out that Pit isn't the sharpest tool in the drawer in the first place. .3.; He may not be dumb necessarily, but he isn't smart and wise like Palutena is.

Yeah, well, that's just how they chose to depict him in Uprising. Not that I'm saying anyone cannot agree with it, right?
I just personally prefer to have him act a bit differently, but on a another sorta take from what Uprising had given us fans for personality-- and the rest of this kinda stems from bringing up "Well, in Uprising he..." moments.

I don't have to always follow the canon, do I?

But this isn't about Pit, it's just me saying I don't like Pitoo and that's just it.
No asking for agreement or anything, and for some reason it seems too hard to ask of from buddies. ( o ~o);

There is nothing that would keep me from getting the game. I've been waiting for this ever since I first played Brawl and Melee
Exactly. We still have 50 others to play as (I'll be focused on Rosalina, Palutena, and WFT). And we can take our anger out on him once he's unlocked

The additions of Lucina, Dark Pit, and Dr. Mario were considered after finishing the roster because each one of them take very little effort to make. They actually didn't take any spots for other characters as many like to believe.

According to Sakurai. If the clone has a slight difference to their counterpart (moveset), they get their own spot.

As for Pitoo. He was more of a satire since even the characters from the game made fun and actually acknowledged the cliche (coming from a game that murders the fourth wall, it's not really surprising). Not that I'm defending him or anything.

Sorry if anyone here already knows this.

MewKwota In reply to Aurabi [2014-09-18 15:14:28 +0000 UTC]

Okay, okay, here. I know about all that, I'm sure anyone would get it.
Sincerest apologies if the next bit of words come of very bitter and unlike me, but I had to take all this stuff for so long and not say a thing about it just to not seem rude for snapping back. But that just leaves me looking uninformed about any single thing.

Whatever the case, I've never had an issue with roster space-taking or clones until just now. It's just I feel that reason is a little lazy for developing a game, but I'll just stop there before I make any other moves I will regret later.
But as for Pitoo, I get his character, but personally I don't care and just don't like him.

I really am sorry that I seemed to have lashed out at you, this sort of talk has really gotten me out of hand, I kind of regret having started this challenge. ( . _.)"

Aurabi In reply to MewKwota [2014-09-19 00:13:11 +0000 UTC]

If there were no clones, we would have the same roster so I don't see what's so lazy.

I assume you experience or had experienced anxiety, or some kind of depression (I do, so don't take it as an insult) which is why you don't like to get into arguments?

Please, don't take it as an attack from my part. Feel free to not leave a reply.

Hm? As far it goes to being diagnosed to me, I don't think so.
But I just don't like arguing, so I tend to refrain from saying things I want to say-- be it my opinion or anything for that matter, thus giving me a bit of stress. It really isn't anything serious, or at least that's what I think.

I didn't mean to sound rude or defensive, and I know you just wanted to put in some facts and whatnot without any similar intent.
With that, I do apologize on my part.
I've just been bottling these thoughts and negative clouds for a while, and I feel horrible that they've been leaking out in a very unmannerly fashion to everybuddy out here. ( . _.);

Perhaps he will have a moveset more unique than we think? Like Ganondorf and whatnot? >> Anyway, it's not too bad. =w=

MewKwota In reply to pouchnoubout [2014-09-18 15:19:20 +0000 UTC]

Um, I checked a brief chart on Custom Moves, and I think Dark Pit's got slightly different choices compared to Pit. Otherwise, his default moveset is a very similar base-- of course with the case of elemental changes and whatnot.
But we'll see, I mean the game's not out yet and we can only see so little in screenshots.

Ooooh, so this is the guy you were unhappy about.

I've seen some demo reactions, and a lot of people say that Pitoo moves pretty much exactly like Pit, which in my opinion is downright lazy. They did the same thing with the Starfox Β characters last time, I thought they learned their lesson! I say, give Pitoo his own move set, or make him an alternate for Pit, otherwise there's no need for him here.Β

MewKwota In reply to Kaod-Mistress [2014-09-17 15:14:52 +0000 UTC]

Nah, I'd doubt that, you know especially since Dr. Mario came back.

But indeed, I've seen a teeny encounter with Dark Pit and just seeing his stage-entrance made me immediately see that he is definitely a clone-- his arrow-shooting only solidified that. Most say he went solo due to franchise bias, but I won't go there.
( o ~o);

Kaod-Mistress In reply to MewKwota [2014-09-18 00:22:15 +0000 UTC]

Well, maybe if enough of us bitch about it, Sakurai will rethink doing clone characters in the future.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

IndyGoNagaretton [2014-09-17 08:38:20 +0000 UTC]

I was mostly "So it all led to this.We've come a full circle with Sakurai bringing what is the worst ways to make a "rival character" trope popular and from now on more unique rivals like Meta Knight, Knuckles or Proto Man will be mere history."
All because sheer unoriginality behind Pittoo's "design" when he was revealed in Uprising. Contrasted big-time with all the great chaarcter designs of all the other characters mostly appearing as one-shots in chapters. Such. A. Shame.

At this point I even think him hiring amazing musicians just to give what I think is one of the most catchiest and memorable songs ever on character like this feels insulting to their talent as the character IMO isn't much worth investing when taken in everything about him as a whole.
It's just not only that Pittoo wasn't even that interesting as a character, but the fact that Uprising's plot apparently neutered any way for him to grow anymore of an individual from Pit due being connected to him as evidenced in Chaos Kin-arc (hence why I might find your fanpiction to him make really sense).
Really detrimental on his own wishes on developing from the guy he came from and also a bad, bad way to ever write a rival character in general. Such a shame too, I think I would have liked the guy little bit more if he went more his way to differentiate himself from Pit. At the end, he'll be always the epitome of "dark version of protagonist" character unless he'll be rebooted as a character in means of design or character. Nevertheless, I think we're being forcefed to "like him", and it has worked because I've heard that he's very popular in Japan, which tells me that doing stuff on characters like these promotes immense laziness and pride over it through bias and use of quality on controversial characters like these is just horrible. Plain horrible.

But to say all this would be saying that being in Smash Bros is about as same as walking to the destination that makes your journey of your whole being and existence anything "worth". Still, it's difficult to deny the sheer amazing quality put on this game, so this kind of things dampers it IMO. The bright side is of course that the guy is still a clone, so he just merely got "lucky" through sheer predictable events since too visible bias on Uprising in Smash 4. On the other hand it doesn't seem to make the fans happy, which IMO lends even more to the fact that Pittoo in Smash 4 as his own character is more of a disappointment than something to be praised for.

End rant. Sorry about that, but I just wanted to let out my pent-up disappointment and annoyance on this as well. Not only I had to give up completely on some fellas to see in Smash (And now it feels mere lottery game now), but this really dampers on my respect and appreciation of quality Sakurai and his dev team puts to this game. Personally I might really consider to ignore unlocking him in my game. It just wouldn't feel right battling what I always saw as a Brawl Alternate Palette and would see here now, only to cringe that the director apparently became to love him so much that he had to shoehorn him as "an individual" character: who already is pretty failure and more of a living but bland stereotype.

I'm at least happy that we're getting finally more crossover content outside of Smash so we don't have to get our share of goodies and new things explored in other ways than that. Hyrule Warriors in particular looks good with this. (Are you gonna get it?)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MewKwota In reply to IndyGoNagaretton [2014-09-17 15:24:27 +0000 UTC]

No, by all means. You had to go through my weird rant, I have no problem to hear your's-- especially if it's pented-up like mine. That's never healthy and I know that all too well. ( . _.);

I'm he could've had more to himself character-wise if they just added some dev-time for him, and as people tell me that defense as if it happened in- I really don't see much besides the obvious in him. Not to sound like some sour-dour-pants, but seeing him often bugs me because of that obvious trope. And as you've said, I really don't see him besides the usual "dark, edgey, cool" guy and that's it.

But as I repeat in all my hoo-hah's, anyone who wanted him can cheer without protest. I just don't want to hear things getting rubbed in my face, be it "but you should like him" text-walls or things similar to when Chrom was labled Loser of the Year. I really can't take that anymore.

Eek, I told myself not to splurge anymore, my sincerest apologies!

On your other note, I was initially interested in Hyrule Warriors, as the graphics and whatnot were very beautiful, but in the end I think I may wanna sit out on this release. My bro's-n-I are already planning to get ORAS and I don't feel good buying so many new games at one sitting. Not to mention, my sister played Dynasty Warriors 8, and as much as everyone else understands how the game works, I am left confused and disoriented just watching it.

So I don't think I'd be that good at playing that sorta hack-n-slash game, despite how lovely the Zelda characters are portrayed.

i liek dark pit, but i do agree.. in his case he DOES need fixing up.

but that is the problem with clones, not fighting clones.. but characters that ARE clones. Dark pit is that, a dark version of pit.. but in the end if there are future kid ciarus games, he should be expanded upon as his own since.. well if anything he WOULD be his own. i mean that's the thing with anti hero doppelgangers.. if they are just the opposite it wont work. With dark pit i like him because in the time we see him he isn't too "Generic." He's predictable, but it isn't bad. And to be honest i think him and pit are equally idiotic

pit for his naiveness and eagerness, and dark for his stubbornness, and misguidance. But just because they're idiotic doesnt mean they're.. "dumb" to behonest i think he's got enoguh potential to become his own character and have his own story arc if the franchise continues. As logn as it actknowledges he shouldn't just be a "edgier" pit.

It was rumored that they had enough time to make one more character to expand the character roster a little and also because Dark Pit never used the Three Sacred Treasures.
Meh, I don't think that was the main purpose, but I kinda wish that they changed something. (Oi, you know the Final Smash for him, right?)

*Edit*: Oh! I forgot to push this in, but you put Duck Hunt in the copyright instead of..well..Kid Icarus: Uprising?

(Pffft, of course I did. I was copy-pasting that bottom part, thanks for pointing it out! )
Just kidding, Dark Pit is in Duck Hunt Uprising as well.

And yes, I do know what his Final Smash is (it's not compared to Pit's, if you were curious), but knowing that Mr. Sakurai said "quality over quantity", I would've thought that he would try to de-clone veteran clones some, and have Newcomers that weren't as such. That being said, I'm not putting down Kid Icarus or it's franchise, I just wish they didn't take the "easy" route with Pitoo's moveset. ( . _.);

...Anywho~ I'm-a go fix that Duck Hunt error now? This is what happens when you try uploading with laggy Internet-- you speed and mess up.

[ You're welcome! ]

I do wish it was a different kind of Final Smash, to be honest. It's quite similar to Zelda's Final Smash except with different colors and other lasers going this way and that. Dark Pit's moveset is simply just Pit's SSBB moveset, sadly. I did hear that he does cause more damage and his Up B is the Electroshock Arm, but well, that's not much really.

MewKwota In reply to FlowingSakura [2014-09-17 02:11:31 +0000 UTC]

Really, there's more than one laser? I've only seen it via screenshot so I wouldn't spoil myself entirely, but judging from what I read it definitely is like a flashy Zelda's-Final-Smash.

When it comes to clones, they simply just use the same moveset and then change a property-- such as an electric Upperarm Dash over Pit's original. So that's just how it is.

Oh, no biggie, it's not like I missed a major cutscene part of his Final Smash or anything~
But indeed, he actually isn't even officially announced, so I wouldn't be surprised. Plus, the last few Unlockables in the game aren't even that much, so I'm not even sure the guy's got a Trailer. ( ' ~');

I remember spotting a post that mentioned the leaker from last time.
It said that they were going to be secretly in there..? I don't think that would make any sense though..
