Description
After looking through my old Challenge versions, this guy's part seemed to have the most comments. Maybe it's because I spoke my mind and said I didn't like him, not that it should've affected anybuddy's own opinions. ( ' -');If I may repeat myself shortly, just because I don't like him doesn't mean I'm enforcing no one else can, that being said, if I'm not pushing please don't push me. I know why people like him, and I can respect that real easily if you can do the same for me, yes?
Truth be told, I just don't like him for his trope. There's often no build up for him, other than more edge or angst-- especially about his position. So what I've found myself doing was indirectly developing him and his character by using him as a parallel for his counterpart, which helps both of them really. Funny, if I can work with people I don't normally fancy to help them grow, why can't it work for others who seem to be "hopeless"?
Don't we just do that for those we are into? Like when people defend Pittoo when I said I didn't like him?
Totally normal, and I say this without bitterness in my words. I just often choose to let the bashing continue and take my bland faves quietly, rather than start up an argument. I guess I'm still a pushover, just do and let do.
Look at this guy, he's making me bitter as he is.
Before I start more things again, I'll just cut it off for good here-- I hope-- and move onto the Black Wings himself.
It's almost like Shulk where I couldn't think of any other cool pose to give Pittoo expect the cross-arms thing, so I just turned him around a little, gave him some fancy hip-sticking *fwuu-fwuu*. ( ' <');
And maybe to help, I tried to remember those extra details he had in his outfit, which I must say is very hard to color black over black, especially in a dark background that I left on.
Otherwise, it was like drawing a very pissy Pit in black-n-white.
If anything, I would've loved to fix his legs, his right one was meant to be bent at least minute and I didn't think it all the way through. I hope it doesn't seem too awkward.

He does need a bit more love for sure. I think his potential as a good character was overlooked, so perhaps we can help with that through more in-depth depictions.
Thank you very much!

To me, he isn't that much different other than a usually-more-glaring Pit with a few added trims to his outfit.
But I'm glad you like how he turned out, thank you.

Your welcome, Also I'm happy to compliment you any time. Also did you know that Dark Pit can naturally fly as when Pit doesn't? Sorry, that just popped up in my mind... once again, your amazing.

Well, if you play through the whole story of Kid Icarus: Uprising, Pittoo actually had the ability to fly naturally.
It wasn't until Pandora, the lady who brought him into existence, was killed and he lost the ability later. And now the boy's got to have assistance from another deity to fly, like Pit does.
I'm not sure if that could be a huge spoiler anymore since it's been about 3 years since that game's release, sorry...!

Ahh!~ Pittoo! I really love that sassy pose you put him in, I find it fitting. I also really like how you did his wings, and the facial expression is amazing!
I understand why some people wouldn't like Pittoo, I like him a lot (and no, I'm really not trying to defend him), but I understand why you wouldn't like him. Agh, I'll just shut up about that now, sorry!
Welp, I hope you had fun drawing him! He looks great, nice work!Β Β

Don't worry, defending him or not, I don't mind-- and completely understand-- that people will do that for those they like a lot. And I have always meant to respect opinions, no matter how different they are from mine, really.
It's just the last time, people kept giving me the same argument like I've never heard it before. I'm pretty sure I know why people are into him, as much as I do why people wouldn't.
Not everyone is going to be into the same things, that's all I wanted to make clear.
If you like him, fine by me totally! I already know he's got fans, who doesn't? ( ' 3');
Just because I don't like him, doesn't mean, and never did mean, that we can't be friends.
Simple as that, and thanks a lot for checking this out! ( ' v')b
(I couldn't think of any other pose to give him, sassy was all I had, uwah~!)

Eyyy I love his pose here, more over the old one (not in a bad way, just a preference thing). And his face expression is wonderful haha.
After description: My goodness, did people REALLY lash out after your opinion? ._.
To tell the truth, I didn't like Lucina or Dark Pit in Smash 4 since they were ditto characters. More-so because first, Lucina does NOT have Marth's fighting style- she has Chrom's, she only took on the identity 'Marth' and her swordsmanship is from her father.
And Dark Pit/Pittoo... He had the obvious potential to be more than just a clone of Pit. The game HAS SO MANY WEAPONS. Nope, Pit clone.
And yes, there's his character too, I haven't played Uprising but my sister has, the Mirror of Truth copied Pit and just made him 'fundamentally destructive and wicked' according to Palutena. For me and my sister, our interpretation is that because it was called 'Mirror of Truth' it reflected the true side of Pit and what he wanted deep inside; to fly (Pittoo stealing Pandora's power to for infinite flight), freedom other than being Palutena's puppet (but we see from when he's without Palutena his really misses her, d'aw).
And I didn't like Uprising as a game either (I'll stop writing massive paragraphs on things). But I do agree there's no real ground for character.
Glad to know you had fun drawing basically, a little moody Pit in black for once hehe. I would say more about your drawing too but I always find it hard to find the words to describe it the way I want to, but I really do like it a lot!
(And the lovely little boom of 18 drawings from you in the watch box <3 Yay!)

Oh my goodness, I thought I was the only one-- it may seem like I like working with Lucina in comics, but my likeliness for a Smasher for their character is different than how I feel of them as a fighter in the roster. So, believe it or not, I still don't like her at all since her reveal as I had with Pittoo.
And you took all the words straight from my mouth, I've been crying those very points since the day they came, but no one would listen to me. I thank you to no end. ( ; <; )
Hmm~ I really like that analysis you got there! ( O ,O);
Why can't people just try to develop him outside of an "dark and edgy" shell? I often complain about this in regards to Chrom, and so I wish to develop him against what others say. And if I can do that with someone as plain as Chrom, I can so easily do the same with edgy Pittoo.
And I really do agree with you on that. I don't own Uprising, but went along a full playthrough of the storyline over Youtube (the play style is not my thing, it's like Metroid Prime Hunters to me and I was horrid at that title). I actually found the game to be kinda cute and charming with the dialogue, but over time it started to get on my nerves the way it started to remind me of nothing more than a platform for a comedy talk show that focuses in teasing Pit 24/7.
Not to worry if you ever end up writing big texts of thought, I always enjoy reading those, really!
I like hearing what others have to say as long as it isn't blatantly harsh-worded.
(Critiques, okay! Bad words, we have better synonyms for those, and that's not critique. )
But before I myself give you another huge block-o-text, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed that 18-pic upload! I really wanted to post them in-bulk just so I wouldn't fret over it later.
Thanks again for checking it out!

Same here! Some one else understands the pain we feel ;n;
I play Smash a lot and I don't mind the characters after awhile but indeed, their character and personality compared to them being fighters in smash don't go hand-in-hand.
It's very disappointing, but I could say the same for Fox and Falco, but their moves are different from each other 'slightly' and their standard attacks at least.
You're welcome, but no one would listen? ;n; Aww, I have my sister at least...
For once, Nintendo actually made a 'dark counterpart' for the hero with dialogue and role in the story yet people followed the standard view of them being evil, or the 'dark' side of the character. Like for Link, people say he's the darkness of Link that was cast out when he drew the Master Sword. Shadow Mario is just a copy by Bowser Β Jr, there's Dark Samus, Princess Hilda etc- all opposites of their character.
It feels natural to follow that I suppose?
But from origins, that's how I feel about Dark Pit being the 'true side' of Pit. And to be frank, we barely know anything about Pit's origins or why he even follows Palutena (even Hades asks this to Pit which Pit cannot answer to).
And I do agree that Chrom has very little development compared to the rest of the cast in Awakening, I know about Gaius than Chrom! And he's the Lord of the series! He gets a very limited amount of supports with other characters and there's not much about him I know side to his dork-ness (which is cute) and how much he wants to carrying out Emmeryn's vision of the world.
Uprising is a charming game! At first glance, it's a lovely game with bright pretty visuals and a different play style adapted to the 3DS and quite a bit of collectables.
It has very fun and entertaining dialogue too, adding a little more charm and flair to the game and characters. But then, what does it really offer as a game? Really the dialogue should be a bonus but really, it's the only attraction of the game. There's limited backstory (you have to get the idols to really understand what's happening or to know a tiny bit about the character's backstory), you barely have time to bond with Magnus, Dark Pit or other characters and the story of the game is slightly a bit too basic.
The tension of the game barely lasts a cutscene or half a chapter (like when a town is in trouble or the Sacred treasures are stolen), I never felt an urgency or fear. Or when Pit was dying, it lasted that single chapter with a solution found in 2 seconds.
It never stood out to me compared to other games like Awakening, TWEWY or even Okami.
And yes, there was just a lot of Pit teasing.
I also love hearing from other people as then I can see why or how they feel about something I may or may not have an opinion on.
I hope I didn't come off harsh, I don't like sugar coating my words a lot as then I feel like I'm not getting my real opinion across.
You're welcome again, and I just sent you another block of blocky block paragraphs
I was surprised by the 18-pic upload actually! It's always a lovely surprise to see you putting up something hehe.
And thank you for taking the time to reply to me!

Oh yeah, I meant no one else on the Internet listens to me of it. All three of my other siblings are in on this potential-loss issue. My bad for the off-wording! ( * C*);
That alone is quite a sad thing, to make a supposedly important character, and just half-do their development. Some fans are too lazy to look deeper into their traits, and would then consider them bland without hope-- like Chrom's case, and sometimes Pittoo though he's got his edgy coolness to save his hide sometimes.
As for the game of Uprising itself, apparently there were quite a bit of plotholes in regards to how things work in that world, mostly in the case of Pit and Pittoo's relation and how separate/linked they are. I even remember when Magnus was first revealed and everyone was all "Woah!! This guy's so cool, he should be in Smash!", then after its release no one really remembers him. It's kinda a bummer. ( o ,o);
The humor may be kinda to cover those problems up.
The Aurum bit still kinda gets me, why aliens again?
Don't sweat it at all! I don't mind at all whatever you said, and the tone isn't near harsh to me. We're just critically analyzing the game, and that's completely fine. I have the same problem myself, I don't like being mean or sounding it, so I almost never speak my mind like I did in my previous Pittoo pic.
Like, even with my putting off about this game, I never mean to say it's the worse thing ever, right?
It's just critique, it isn't perfect, and anyone who likes it is free to do so.
That being said, I always enjoy these kinds of long chats with you. They are a pleasure to learn of others as well!

The internet sometimes can be such a lonely place huh. And no worries, I have the same problem with no being precise enough with my wording either ;u;
Their bland traits seem to come from a mix of half-done development and fans not looking further past the characters, so it seems. And this is true now that many people have adapted the same outlook to Pittoo's character, and with Chrom's lack of actual development with supports and MU/Robin being in the limelight, I was sad he didn't even get supports with Emmeryn, Gangrel, Walhart, Flavia or Basalio for example- heck he recruited some of them!
The plotholes in Uprising... First is how when Pit is in a coma for 3 years, so is Pittoo affected; then shouldn't when Pit is dying, Pittoo should be affected in some way? I'm guessing the original idea of the Mirror of Truth making a copy could come from the Dark Mirror in Fourswords Adventure (It made shadow links) but had no connection to Link himself. On Magnus' case, it's sad how little we actually got to see him, how much he was present in the game and how much we even know about him, he's actually a pretty cool character!
The humor pretty much covered a lot of the little issues, I enjoyed the dialogues though but even that didn't help me enjoy the gameplay so much- half the time I wouldn't be listening and only then realise they had been talking (If I was Pit they'd think I would be purposely ignoring them ;n; )
The Aurum part... Uhm. Lazy plot filling? Something to do with the Luna Sanctum maybe, but there's a lot of unexplained things- even Phantom Hourglass had more story between Jolene and Linebeck!
Ah, that's good. I was afraid of being to harsh on a game I know was not originally Kid Icarus related- meant to be a Greek mythology game but it linked well to KI so that happened. And I know how you feel about coming across as mean or sounding mean, you do a good job staying from being bitter on the net ;u; I sometimes accidentally do say mean things and often attempt to cover it up with a jokey tone
Even though I say all this about Uprising too, it has its perks and charms which I understand why people like it for what it is. Maybe I expected too much of it initially? Reminds me of my disappointment with Okamiden as it was nothing like Okami
Aw, thank you. Same to you really, it's always such a lovely little moment to chat with you about how we feel on things like our similar view on games <( 'u ' <)

The wings are a very noticeable improvement. That's not to say I didn't like the older style; I think it looked really good in the comics Guess What and Selfish Less. (Or maybe there's actually no change, and my sense of perspective is warped thinking that extended wings going towards the background are minuscule extended wings and the bent wings here are just not as far angled backward.) I still think they look a tad small (Yes, varying sources claim that Pit can't fly because his wings are too small or that he just can't, but official art makes them a good size).
Also, I'm sorry if your opinions of Pittoo sprawled into a flame war. I completely understand your perspective, and I do find it interesting how you've been improving his character in your comics. You do a great job of making him a foil of Pit (which comes with the territory), especially with Selfish Less, where you can see his bitterness and insight into Pit's personality.
(Also, quick question with Guess What: I like the gag that Pittoo covered himself with flour to pull off the prank, but shouldn't Rock have noticed that Pit suddenly got reddish-brown eyes? Maybe Dark Pit also got his hands on some blue-colored contact lenses...)
π: 0 β©: 1
MewKwota In reply to Alia-of-AGL [2015-11-07 17:19:30 +0000 UTC]
Oh, no worries! Often when I draw the Pits, I just do a brief draw of their wings and I don't really move them much unless they're in a comic where expressions can be seen through wing-movement (it's like Link and his ears!).
Still, you are right. Compared to the old version, I did add some bend to Pittoo's wings so they look bigger-- I did that at random and didn't plan it, so I saw the differences about the same time you probably did.
Nevertheless, they're probably still too small to have him fly, the wingspan is still small to his body.
I think the reason is unexplained entirely, so I guess it's all up to us fans to make up our own ideas.
Funny isn't it, when people hate a character, they'd just draw Hate Art of them.
I don't really like Hate Art at all, and if I disliked someone so much, I'd just keep it to myself and just never draw them-- easy as that. In that case, there are folks worse than Pittoo that I'd never even bother to mention, so he's hardly a start.
If I want to develop him when I say he's not, then so be it. It did it because I could, not to impress or stop the rebuttles about my opinion.
The "flame wars" were really nothing more than people saying "But I like him", or the usual defenses we've all heard. I'm not putting them down, I was just speaking my simple opinion and I thought we could just leave that with an indirect "okay", respect it, and go on our way.
It's what I have to do when people diss my faves all the time; I don't like arguing, it ruins my spirit.
I must return my apologies since I sent you this huge reply. ( ' ~');
But I do also appreciate your words on my comics involving this kid, that usage of Pittoo to compare to Pit was also to relate back to him as you said. I'm glad you noticed it!
(Hmm~ For your other question, maybe he had contacts, maybe he didn't. Or Rock just woke up, so he didn't notice the eye color. That's all up to you to interpret, really, there's probably no wrong answer.)
