Description So besides any Mega-specific stuff, I said I could also do Take Two's with other game-based shows-- I just did Megaman a lot since my boom and how there were a lot of neat shots I wanted to redraw there. But whatever the case, one of the other cartoons I wanted to consider was, probably obviously, Captain N: The Game Master.

With it's rather "altered" choice of designing the characters shown in the series, it was a totally perfect subject to compare in a varying style. That being said, those who haven't seen what I meant my these designs, here in order are random redone screenshots of:
Simon Belmont , Pit , and Megaman .

And before you say anything splurgy, this cartoon was done back in the early 90's. So, y'know~ References and all that were virtually scarce or hardly existant. The depictions were totally up to the artists' head when looking at the pixels, and yet I still am shocked by a few choices in why one was depicted in such a way. I mean, I already know why-ish, so I don't need to be reiterated, yeah? ( ' ~');

Regardless of how funky the cartoon was: script-wise and design-wise to the point of shocking me, I still found this to be an interesting off-source to touch on for what I felt was a unique relation between the three above characters. But I won't go too deep into that here since my descriptions tend to grow with every thought in my head.

Anywho, if you were wondering why I picked such a random shot for these three individually, I really just picked the one image each character held on his home-wiki.page, except Simon who had none so I picked the first thing I Googled. So, don't mind the background that looks like bleh-bleh, I took a bit of a rough challenge on myself on those without much preparation.

While I had wondered if I should have tried depicting everyone in a "re-styled" version of themselves in the cartoon itself, I really was hesitant about Simon's chin. So I decided to leave it as drawing the character in their notable, true forms. Well, not like I have an issue trying to work Pit, which I had done before. Oh well, the backdrops are already enough of a challenge as well as other characters... like, the villans? *nudge-nudge*
Perhaps, I'll try more interesting shots when I decide to look back at these episodes. If I can muster the courage to.

[EDIT]: Yeah, not sure why sometimes my links like to do an "Inception" on themselves, Simon's was messed up. Fix'd now~!

Well, it feels that way to me, in an endearing sort of way. Hence the word choice. But that doesn't mean I don't find it enjoyable from time to time. Everyone is free to have their own opinion on something, so I think it would be good to try respecting that.

And if not, well maybe you should check someplace else, instead of getting upset at another person's different opinions.

It wasn’t funky. Sure it was silly but it was sometimes serious. So no.

Well, okay, if that's how you choose to misinterpret my wording. Though, if you look further in my works, you'd see that's exactly how I view the show.Β But since you are choosing not to be open with me, I'll just leave you at that, and continue to do as I do.

Take care, and no hard feelings, friend.

Either way, I still stand by what I enjoy doing with my work, and hope to continue leaving things good and respectful. Again, take care and don't take things too hard, friend.

I'm sorry, but an personal opinion about a show isn't a fact, it's an opinion.

If I understand correctly, you disagree with how I work with this series, and I think that's totally fine. People as fans are allowed to create things in many different ways. I have my way, and I'm sure you have your way. I don't see a problem with having different ways of doing things.

In any case, you still seem pretty upset about something, but do not seem very open to talking it out.

If you can, at least tell me this: "What exactly do you think I mean in my wording?"

I think that will help us understand what seems to be the problem here.

If you can't, then I'm afraid we aren't going to come to any sound conclusion with this sort of exchange.

Yeah no. It’s not an opinion, it’s a fact.

So what, in other cases there are others who can disagree with you.

No I am not upset but I am unamused.

Then this dumb conversation is over.

It's really interesting to see the differences between depictions of these characters. I remember hearing what Mega Man sounded like on the show and I just had this face like 0_0

I love they way you draw these guys!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MewKwota In reply to RileyReaper96 [2014-09-07 16:52:38 +0000 UTC]

Oh my goodness, yes. I can't really understand how the writer's thought that would fit a face of a kid like Megaman, then again they didn't exactly make him look his most accurate, did they?
Regardless, there are just some aspects of that show that I really liked to use for other reasons-- namely such unlikely characters becoming somewhat of a team of "friends" (okay, maybe not so much but still~), so I still acknowledge its existence.

But thank you again~!

It did have its giggle-moments, no? I have nothing against it being a part of anyone's nostalgia, in fact I find that nice~
But thanks~ Simon honestly was the guy who had the biggest personality-makeover, so trying to redo him here was tricky.

btw, have you heard of The Mega Man Home Page ? The owner has written several Mega Man fan fics and a few of them include CN and crew. They are written for younger audiences but they are still a fun read. I found the site some years ago and though it's not as active anymore, it's still fun.

IndyGoNagaretton [2014-08-15 23:08:39 +0000 UTC]

I just can't stop laughing at Simon's... it's like he must have seen that depiction of himself and looked right to the mirror to compare himself whilst cringing nonstop. Still looks better giving the feel of "good-looking" than whatever the C:N's Simon was trying to be.
But man, the design om Pit though, it really stands out from the rest. I guess the design choice of "cute" seems to have stayed more timeless in his look.

Maan, ain't this series of yours just interesting and clever, - Maybe one I'd wanna ask you to reproduce something from something old as well. (~>lvl) (Also, nice job on the backgrounds!)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MewKwota In reply to IndyGoNagaretton [2014-08-16 01:39:44 +0000 UTC]

Ah, why thankyu~!

Indeed with that "past Simon", I thought he could totally work out for a slightly more-altered reproduction of his image since his personality was changed as much as his looks were. In fact, while working on that shot, I felt that Simon was in a sort of moment like how some of us are when we reflect on ourselves when we used to have some certain unappealing trait that we regret now. (I mean, I have had those moments, and I'm sure all of us can relate to it as well.)

So, when he looks at that mirror he seems to wonder, "Was I really like that back then?"
It's kinda surprise that even after all those times he was like that, Simon is still considered a good friend to the two younger boys that he tended to "bully". That also really made me want to develop on this odd friendship. ( ' v');

(Fufu~ Luckily, there are plenty of old-sources of things that I can look over and try to redraw. I've seen even some neat bits from that German Nintendo comic you had shown on Tumblr some while back that really got me interested. )

IndyGoNagaretton In reply to MewKwota [2014-08-16 22:06:10 +0000 UTC]

Hmm! I personally don't enjoy looking back on myself doing something I'd consider very embarrassed about today. Makes me wanna bury myself very deep underground.

Also, now that I think about it, that could actually make for neat little backstory for Simon becoming friends with both? Maybe he used to act in a way that first came off as negative on Pit and Rock (kinda like C:N except just without the weird narcisstic bit).

Aah, I already forgot about those! I already provided some of those download links and that tag in the blog to plenty random translations... though I have to admit, a lot these stories don't seem to make sense... though it might be because they're all random single pages translated. I seem to like the one with the Christmas-thing since it's short and sweet.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MewKwota In reply to IndyGoNagaretton [2014-08-17 00:26:44 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that's what I was thinking too (of course yes, without the narcissistic bit). Being that Simon is meant to become a part of the Mature-rated game groups, I'm sure that may be a reason for why he would look down at the E-rated kids around him and find that proper reason to pick on them as well. And yet maybe at some point he noticed how they would still consider him their friend and whatnot.
Golly, I am really surprised how much we can go with this single-yet-obscure relation!
