TG: well obviously i knew the birds were just black screaming sky dongs just hear me outTG: i kept dying
TG: there kept being these traps like i would go one way and get my head chopped off
TG: or go another way and get stabbed or whatever
TG: and every time i died the dream reset itself and i was standing there alive and ready to try to escape again
TG: but each time i would be watching myself from the vantage point of a different crow
TG: like i was the crow all squawking around in circles like a macabre flapping douche
TG: and i would always watch myself try to do something different to dodge the trap but i always ended up dead

Okay, where to start here.
I really loved that part, every time I read it I almost tear up from the images it gives me, and this piece has the same effect.
The contrast of Dave's signature colour against the background and all the crows, and how he's pretty much getting ripped to shreds by the darkness looks so horrible yet strangely aesthetic.
And how the sword in his chest it builds up a juxtaposition between him and Bro is just so nice.
Last but not least I really need to comment on how pretty Dave's face is here. It looks so boyish and sad, and I just really like that. Of course this is a matter of taste, but I personally am very fond of people actually drawing Dave looking like a 13 years old boy.

ohhh nooooooo you probably didn't know this but i'm literally the worst at long comments they melt me and sit in my inbox like uneaten candies while i caress them lovingly and never have the heart to properly digest them and let them disappear.
also yesss after that update and the nepeta-jaspers one i literally just rolled in bed and stared at the ceiling with my heart ripped out of my chest oh god. also i hadn't thought of the bro/sword analogy--interesting!! i hadn't intended for it, but it totally works *u* [also yess i especially love the kids portrayed as their age. it just breaks my heart so much more oops dfsf]

Oh heavens the nepeta-jaspers-conversation! If I hadn't been in a state of constant weeping at that point already, I bet this would've torn me up completely. Poor Nepeta, I really think she is the only character in Homestuck who never got to do anything she wanted :C She is so unimportant, and it makes me so sad for her because she's such a sweet and protective girl.
Yes, I mean of course everyone can draw and like whatever they want. But to me, it just makes everything seem so much more tragic if fanart reminds you of how young the kids are, how narrow their little shoulders are and what weight lies on them.

OKAY REAL QUICK ON THE ALBINO THING: OR MAYBE Hussie just wanted all the kids' eyes to match their respective colors entirely for NEAT FACTOR, regardless of whether or not said eye colors occurred in normal humans as well as regardless of what circumstances they occur under. GASP.
Whatever blonde Dave is best Dave if you ask me :'D.
Although I can't say I mind the idea of his eyes being sensitive to sunlight, but I think of that as more of a side effect of WEARING SHADES YOUR WHOLE LIFE 8V.
ANYWAYS now that I got that out of my system: I just absolutely love this so much. I knew there were going to be a lot of really interesting interpretations of Dave's dream, but this is by far one of my ultimate favorites. I love that vivid splash of red there hguhfknf <3333.

LOL No man I don't mind anybody else's interpretations of the characters, some of them are insanely cool, I just happen to like blonde Dave and grey-skinned trolls the best I think XD. BUT WHO CARES it all produces wonderful artz to leech happiness off of am I right.

I've seen a few I think, but I was pretty surprised! I was really expecting tons of people to JUMP on that — and several have already, so I have seen quite a few by now, but most people are putting their attention into the John and Vriska, and espcially the Davesprite and Jadesprite clip! Which I don't mind at all because Dave and Jade in the same picture satisfies my shipping wall times infinity. *SHOT*
But out of the ones I have seen, I just really like this one ;u;. I like how it all fits together and just the general art of it fhdsfhusjkfns Dave you have a beautiful face I'm just saying.
And while I don't at all mind older interpretations of the characters (and in fact enjoy them), I always like seeing them actually look thirteen lol ;u;. MAYBE PARTIALLY because I can't draw thirteen-year-olds at all so I admire everyone else who can XD.

Well, Hussie never actually said that Dave was ginger. Actually, I seem to remember him saying how he didn't know how it got started.
Also, this page . Red eyes are only from color contacts (I doubt it) or albinism with completely no pigmentation in the iris. Also, since Dave wears sunglasses all the time, it would make sense if he was albino, because the glasses would protect his eyes.
So he is either completely albino or he just has ocular albinism. Either way, I'd still be partially right...
but ehhhh whatever.
