Description
I realised that i need to work on my textures and materials more, as well as lighting. So I'm going to try out some texture studies! If you have any requests on what i should do next, let me knowRelated content

I think it would be better if you watched the tone/value -- desaturate it, and it'll probably look flat. You need to keep the entire thing better in mind in order to use tone and colour to make it look rounder than it is. Other than that, the colours are nice and it looks nice and fluffy.

Love this!Β You captured the texture of the downy feathers on top perfectly.Β And the little splits between the clumps on the mature feathers, well done!Β I've tried feathers before (entire bird) with not much luck.Β Nice work!Β

It looks like it's going to unfurl into a cute baby winged creature of some kind.

It would be great if it did XD I could probably draw it, but it would take forever on account of my horribleness with digital media.

Wow, that was fast XD Anyway, this looks really good! The concept is great, I love that it's in the shape of a ball. That forces you to constrain the texture in a particular shape which I think amplifies the gain from the study. But enough of that, haha. I love the colors and the white 'tuff' looking part looks great. I feel like the rachis could be a bit more refined. It looks a bit too blended out which I feel makes it lose it's shape and has it blend more into the barbs than it should. The barbs look amazing though. Just to make things a bit more dynamic and less symmetrical (not related to the study itself), maybe some larger broken areas between barbs? Or having overlapping areas? For general feather reference, (not necessarily needed for this), this may help: www.wqed.org/birdblog/wp-conte⦠(I just google'd for "anatomy of feathers".)
This is great though, can't wait to see more As for ideas for future ones, I'd recommend this list (which can also be inspiring):Β tanathe.deviantart.com/art/100β¦
And for my general suggestions: cracker, paper/plastic bag, carpet.

haha i was working on it before i messaged you
Thanks very much dear!
Oh my gosh, you give the most incredible feedback ever... like, i can't even.Β
i think some overlapped areas would bring so much more dynamic to this... but i would have never thought of it on my own. you have a real eye/mind for details!Β
thanks so much love!Β
and oh gosh, i love those texture studies... amazing<3Β
