Description Oil on canvas, 90x70cm. Hommage to Albert Bierstadt's painting "Puget Sound on the Pacific Coast" (1870). I really admire the colors he chose und the illuminated mountains, but I wanted a calmer scene with more focus on the mountains. After several changes and an excursion to Frederic Church inspired icebergs, which were completly ready (that's why there is the glacier), I ended up with this scene.Β

This does look like a very classical old painting.

By the way , there maybe some animals needed , same as Frederic Church and Albert Bierstadt , they often draw some tiny animals that makes the whole landscape alive and allowing people to have imaginations .Β

How about trying to copy Thomas Cole's The Course of Empire next time , you can learn a lot from it !

Keep going

Thanks for the suggestions! Maybe you are right with the animals... the beach is quite empty, isn't it. However, as good as "The Course of Empire" is, I don't want to copy paintings anymore, but rather try to create my own scenes (or interpret those classical pieces) and do some more studys of real landscapes, like "Autumnal Forest".
Thanks again for your interest!
