Why…why is this happening…?

Solitaire found herself staring out the window, watching the snow fall while she stayed within her own thoughts. Now that the boys were talking amongst themselves, and now that the news had fully sunken in, she could feel her current state again. Her muscles felt somewhat weighed and a tight feeling clenched inside her chest. Meanwhile, her head felt a little fogged and, overall, tired.

First Palette…and now Nirvana…?

Solace shifted, bringing Solitaire’s attention back to what was around her. She watched the Absol while he lightly smiled at Corrosive Mordant and bowed his head at the two pokemon.

“Alright…thanks so much for taking the time to come to us and deliver this news, you two.”

“Of course…we thought you guys deserved to know.”

For the first time, Samuel raised his gaze to Solace, a frown still forming his mouth.

“We’re sorry we had to deliver bad news of all things…”

“No. Don’t apologize.” Solitaire felt the pokemon all look over towards her while she spoke up, but she didn’t look at them. Instead, she moved away and walked towards the wall with her painting, kneeling down to grip it with her claws. “I would rather know than to be kept in the dark.”

Horus stood, followed by Solace and then his partner. He watched Solitaire for a second, but then released a slow exhale and jumped off the chair he had been sitting in.

“Well, that was all that we had to say. I think it would be best if we left now. We have some things we need to do. Sorry guys…”

“No, it’s fine. We understand.”

Solace took the time to walk the smaller pokemon to the door and even open it for them. But before they stepped out, they both turned around and gave the Night Baskers one more look.

“Goodbye you guys. And good luck with things.”

“See ya.” Samuel gave them one last sad smile and then headed out.

“Take care, you two. Be careful.”

Solace closed the door behind them. Sighing, he stepped away from the door and looked at Night.

“We should all visit her once the snow is gone.”

“Mmmn…good idea…” the Kirlia mumbled back, seemingly distracted.

Solitaire didn’t respond. Instead, she finally straightened herself and stood up, taking the painting with her while looking over the colors and details. A part of her agreed that seeing Nirvana would be a good thing to do – after all, they worked together, even if she never really talked to the girl – but another part of her was too tired to even think about facing more people.

“Well, if you need me, I’ll be in my room.”

Ears twitching, she stayed still while she listened to the two converse.

“What? But you’ve been in there all day!” Night complained, glaring at his partner. “Can’t you stay out here for at least ten minutes or something?”

In response, Solace sheepishly smiled back. “Sorry…you know how tired I’ve been lately, ha ha! I need a bit more rest.

Well, I’ll see you guys later.”

And with that, Night stayed silent while the older pokemon walked off and right pass him, heading straight to his dark room before closing the door behind himself.
