Description
The story:I was walking around downtown looking for homeless people to take their picture for a project of mine. This man approached me and asked for some change so he and his wife could get home. He looked somewhat disheveld and slightly nervous. Perhaps he was new to panhandling. I agreed to help him out and asked if i could take his picture for my project. He agreed and i took several photos of him against the brick wall. I then gave him a dollar and he was very thankful. I walked about ten steps away then turned around because i forgot to ask his name. He then shrieked...collapsed...and started seizing. Shaking, gasping, spittle comming from his mouth. Several people rushed to his aid...some ran off to find help...some just watched as i did. I dont know what compelled me to take the subsequent photos, but i did. The ambulance came and took him away. I dont know what happened to him or if he was ok. When he fell the dollar i gave him as well as others blew away. It was a rather windy day.
*n03113 wrote an excellent poem about the experience after i told her the story... make sure you check it out [link]
it was also suggest that i sell prints and give the profits to the homeless or that man, if ever i see him again... so thats what ill do... all profits from the sale of this print will go twoards the homeless ...but i doubt anyone will want a print of this
enjoy.

From :critiqueme:
This one is all about the story. It is well done and compelling in a journalistic sense; it is not intended to be "pretty" but rather serves the function of telling a story. Kudos on that.
Two arguable points here.
1. I think the font you used for the title overlay is way too decorative. Since this is a crude, "in your face" real-life experience, I do NOT think an embellished, wedding card-like typo goes well here.
2. Perhaps it would have been more effective to close the series with a couple of irregular-format shots like those on top, showing some more detail of the scene. I understand your "shock and awe" (to use an unfortunate term in a more fortunate fashion) when you saw this guy collapse, but nevertheless it would have been good, for your work's sake, to get nearer. I'm not suggesting that you take the morbid details such as this fellow's decomposed face splurting foam, but perhaps the feet of all the passerby's who stopped to watch or the paramedics' hands holding the frame of the stretcher while taking him away. Something that would make more evident the whole action you witnessed, and would give a stronger ending.
Cheers.

what if he had a seizure because of the pictures you took of him? wouldn't that be a thought? and of course, a very tragic irony.
i sure hope he was okay.

maybe he felt down because he should'nt eat anything since several times. we can only imagine how it's dificult to survive , outside, without money or house for month, or years. so, imagine only one dollar! it looks nothing for us, but when you've lost everything, that's really something.
really powerful mood and message. kind of scene who happens rarely.
we hope he get better now.

that must have been wierd. but you know the fact that you gave him his last(?) smile is quite beautiful.
I read the poem too. theΓ½ make this even more beautiful together.

A very interesting story you have there. I would be in shoke if that happens to me ... Too bad that you weren't closer to take some shots of the medics with that guy, but I doubt that they would let you anyway.

Quite a story ... and the story is what really brings the piece together. It's effect is strongest on the first two images, the portraits of that man, making them even more personal. They are so raw, so simple, so unedited, and it works very well. Nice piece, especially for what you're trying to get across.
Also: Thanks much for the wonderful feedback, one again, and I'll take your suggestions into consideration.
