Description hmm... i was working on this for a while but i reached an impasse and could go no further...i scrapped everything and started over...the final work is very different....i hope you dig it...

this was inspired in part by a quote by El-P from Simple... "Simple words can do work versus complexidus bids"

i can do a print of this if anyone likes...

and... FULL VIEW IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST!

hmm...i think the reason its better off without the clouds...coz they take too much attention from the man and "his world" .....
if i get the concept right...

HMM..

interesting piece

but now that i think of it, i think it'd be better off without the
blue clouds u added to the womans " thoughts".....dunno why..
just everything in grey.
but anyway, very nice

so true. once again, great planning and attention to meaning. i really like the way you depicted the differences in their priorities.

very expressive. but I wanted it more sharp and maybe I thought the bubbles with interior was to much of an contrast to the actual picture.

great work.

Everyone else has made the observations I wanted to, but I do love the roadmap/blueprint ingrained into the picture. And I don't think the blue is too "shocking" it just makes it obvious whose side we're supposed to take, like it was a descision in the first place. Nicve work!

keep up the great work!

You know, without the very faint detail of the blueprint image permeating through this whole image, this wouldn't have worked for me. I am SO glad you added that touch... it makes the whole thing perfect.
The old man is not only thinking rigidly, ingrained in society, but he is a true part of that society; indoctrinated and stagnant of thought. This only came through to me because of the near invisible pattern over everything.
It also lends so much more contrast to the thoughts of the man slumped against the wall.
The irony is that while his thoughts are of freedom, it is that very train of thought that has imprisoned him within the system and left him wanting.
That's my for what it's worth.
This image speaks VOLUMES! I'm sure there are many other ways to see the meaning of this picture. That's what I like... it leaves itself open to interpretation, aloowing it to become very much a personal vision to each individual viewer.
Very nice!

The first thing i thought. Why is that woman sitting like that? And the man ignores her totally, I dont like him. The woman though, i feel for. Good display of different status in this, and I like the way youve added the thoughts into pictures. Thinking completely different things. From different worlds.

Good picture. Makes me think.

Although I understand what's going on, I'm not sure I get the message, if there is one beyond simple vs. complex. Apparently I'm just since everyone else seems to get it. I wish the picture was more in focus, but I like it. Nice work on the bubbles too, especially the use of color for the sky.

very inventive... as for the message being shown... I like the photo, although it's definately a bit fuzzy.. which it had more focus, but perhaps that was intentional. It's really a great concept!

Woah, this is very good. The colour of the sky, seems like the intensity that the person is thinking about it. (If you undestand me) The overlayed map adds a nice touch to it aswell.

The thought buibbles are done well. I like the underlying skematic grid pattern and the contrast between the thoughts. Old fashoned type photo with updated complexity, reminds me of the movie Brazil for some reason. Well done!

Beautiful piece!

I like the way you played with the black and white and then splashed the image of blue skies into the image. I also think that the image that is overlaid in the back is a very nice touch and is quite intricate in the way it blankets part of the backdrop. Great work! keep it up!

oh yeah.. Lovin' the name too!

This deviation, of course, is the answer to the question "What if RenΓ© Magritte had a DA account?" Thought provoking AND visually engaging, which seems to be a common thread in yer stuff.

Since you commented a record 3 times on [link] , I'm gonna give you a bonus and do a closed-caption version of this piece for anyone who needs it. But can simple words can do work versus complexidus bids? We'll soon find out...

[to be read in a loud nasal voice]
"It's daytime on a city street at the corner near Tizen's Tonal Bank and Citize National Ba. It must be the '50s because that's when the world was black and white. There is a lady sitting down who is resting up after a sack race. She's thinking about Windows 95. Nearby is an older gentleman who is thinking about his malfunctioning overhead projector. Maybe he lost the sack race to the lady, but he's being a good sport. There are signs nearby that seem to read "Donut Walk"... that might be the name of the sack race they were in. Maybe they got sponsorships to buy them donuts. It could be you. It's a sky-blue sky."

i like the message of this deviation. its quite true too. ive had in depth conversations with many a bum and there usually in another strange and fantastic world. i love the contrast between both the people and there thoughts. the old man is standing stright up hands behind back while the bum is sleeping on a corner. two diffrent worlds collide.

I like the idea...the colour added in might have been a bit odd. i mean if you had some way to keep it b&w then I guess the blue skies would seem less "shocking"

yes, I agree with the quote.and I very much like the representation done here. It's not complex, and what makes it really simple is that it's a picture. there are no words to marr or obscure the idea. And the thing about a picture is it's so easy to look at, anylize and reflect on. Most of the time it's not a leading thing like words are. It's a guiding thing, and a hinting thing, but what you think is up to you.

I really like this though. goiod idea to start over again and redo. it usually works too.
