Do you really need Half-life to use Gmod?? I really want to make my own pics but don't know how

It doesn't have to be Half-Life 2. It just needs to be a game that runs on the Source engine, like Portal, Counter-Strike: Source, or Team Fortress 2.
Only thing is that some maps will require that you own specific games.

Because I found these models some time ago on the main site. I just don't want to see more people to become drama llamas over the lame rule against G-Mod.

Yes, it is fun. My own mods are in my Scraps, they won't get taken down so long as they are there.
