Description
Ofu Island, The National Park of American Samoa.Credit Hemingway for the title. I'm not sure if the old man of the sea ever made it to the South Pacific, but I'm sure he would have really enjoyed the Manua islands here in American Samoa. These are some of the most magnificent islands in the world and they are way off the radar of most travelers and photographers.
The owners of our island lodge have only seen one tourist since we left there in early October! It's a remote and wild South Pacific paradise you can have all to yourself...

Outstanding shot Michael, the dividing composition between the water, and the land is superb. Looks like a beautiful Island, would love to visit some time.

Thanks for the comment! This is actually a very safe place (despite witnessing a Tsunami there). There are a few small reef sharks here and there, but they are basically scavengers and don't pose a risk to people. I've never seen a jelly fish and I don't think you have to worry about the dangerous ones you see on the Great Barrier. It's like a little garden of eden before anyone bit the apple. A true paradise and very safe. The only photoshop work I did was cloning out a couple water spots on the lens and very minimal dodging of the top of the sand ridges. Colors, etc are all exactly as you would see them if you were there. I used a Canon 5D MK II inside an Aquatica housing to get this.

Good fortune smiled down on us all when we found this in our inboxes. Love it, especially the patterns of the sand, shows the true artistic carving talent that the sea has.

I'm using an Aquatica housing with a Canon 5d Mk II. I can highly recommend this housing. It's about midrange as far as housing prices go.
