Description
Jumping on the deviant meme bandwagon. These are just a few of things that inspire me as an artist. Be warned, I went overboard.Starting from the bottom left corner:
FANTASIA - This was the film that inspired me to become an animator. Watching this as a 5 year old youngster, the animation switch finally turned itself on after seeing Mickey bring that broom to life for the first time. And the rest of the film is just as incredible, musically and artistically.
CHARLES SCHULZ'S PEANUTS - Honestly, who doesn't have a soft spot for Snoopy or Charlie Brown? I remember seeing the strip every day in the newspaper, watching their specials every holiday with my family and playing with some sort of toy or game involving these characters every day. Although Schulz's strip is incredibly simple in execution, it speaks volumes, both visually and mentally.
GEORGE HERRIMAN'S KRAZY KAT - Ok, about 90% have no clue how significant Krazy Kat is on the world of comics. This comic inspired generations of aspiring animators, cartoonists and even important historical figures of the 20th century. The surreal style of the strip is so inviting to me. As odd as it sounds, I just want to wander aimlessly through the multicolored desert of Coconino county.
ASTERIX - Definitely one of my favorite comics. The art, the humor, the personalities... it's all wonderful. Within a month of reading the first book for the first time, I bought the last 30 or so books of the series. I was that hooked. God... every time I see Obelix eat a roast boar, my mouth begins to water.
JEFF SMITH'S BONE - To me, its the single greatest graphic novel of all time. Period. Discovering this series very late in the game (only about 2 years ago), it inspired my artwork in leaps and bounds. It's everything I ever wanted in a story all wrapped up into one spectacular package. I've read the One Volume edition cover to cover at least 3 times now, and it never ceases to amaze me.
WINNIE-THE-POOH - I've grown up with Winnie-the-Pooh all my life. I heard the stories as a toddler and I watched the movies and the TV shows all through my childhood. There's just something about these characters and the world they inhabit that's so charming that it always seems to pull my attention away from everything else when its even barely within eye or earshot. Everything about it is a sheer joy to me.
WARD KIMBALL - What an incredible animator! Who else could bring characters like Jiminy Cricket, the Dumbo crows, Pecos Bill, the Mad Hatter and March Hare and countless other classic Disney characters to life better than he could. Sure, Milt Kahl can capture the weight of a realistic tiger, stripes and all, but no other animator can make me laugh more than Ward. An eccentrically hilarious personality that no other animator could possibly match.
AL HIRSCHFELD - Definitely on of the greatest caricature artists of all time. Any artist can detail the hell out of a drawing, but who else can capture the essence of any celebrity with only a handful of carefully placed lines? His artwork is the prime example of "Less is More".
SCHOOL OF VISUAL ARTS - This is a pretty vague example. For the last 3 years of my life, this place has been like a second home to me. The atmosphere of New York, combined with the incredible talent and workmanship of my teachers and classmates makes this my artistic Shangri-La. I've learned so much here, and I'm honestly not looking forward to leaving school. I almost want to get myself held back, just so I can stay here one year longer.
To Be continued...

Wow! I was actually very surprised by most of your picks to be honest! oo'
Bone, I've been meaning to read that adorable looking comic book. xD And I can't really tell if that's Miyazaki's works or another artist's, but awsome! His style is nothing like other anime series/movies I've ever seen their all either really cute or kick ass. <3 My Neighbor Totoro, pure classic. <8
Calvin and Hobbes...who could resist such adorable comics, especially with torturing all those poor snowmen? xD Every time I see a giant collection in a local library or at a book store...I just HAVE to pick it up and just sit down and read through the entire thing. Dinosaurs rawk btw. x>
Disney! YAAAAAY Disney! 8D Although some of the styles don't really change, mostly with them princess movies, still has a lot of influence on plenty of people including yourself so far as the eye can see. x) I have yet to see Steamboat Willie (I really wanna see that. >>; ) of course one of my top favorite movies I've seen is the first Goofy Movie. Songs are so damn catchy. D:
Haha of course. xD You and that other love bird make such a adorable pair. <3 I'm glad that you two are very happy with each other!

Now see, for some reason, I like the memes that include older, classic inspirations rather than including just deviants.
