Loved it! The movements were so fluent and I really liked the way some of the straws of the nest fell down when the bird let it fall onto the post. the expressions were great as well!
May I asked how long it took you?

<- My face.
The movements of the bird were really smooth, and it was great how you could get so much emotion (from it looking surprised to frazzled and then somewhat miffed in the end) with so few lines

I love it! Very cute animation
Only one thing that bothers me is the sound when the bird hits the ramp: It's a bit too strong, sounds like it could have injured itself. Maybe some softer sound.
Anyway, congratulations on your DD for this wonderful animation!

I literally did a double take when I saw your short pop up on Cartoon Brew, I've seen you mentioned on there before but this was different for some reason.
Fantastic sense of timing and great, expressive animation! Bravo!

The Short Answer: With a lot of patience.
The Technical Answer: I animated it completely in three passes (emotion pass, rough tie-downs and clean up) in Adobe Flash CS3 at HD resolution (1920x1080). Then did a little bit of effects (aka adding a slight motion blur to the train) by bringing it into AfterEffects, then exported a smaller version of the film, which I brought into GarageBand so I could edit the audio to the film. Using some sounds I pre-recorded (train sounds), sounds from my digital library (mechanical and impact sounds) and foley that I recorded on the fly (wing flaps using washcloths, the nest using shredded printer paper and plastic bags, and various creaks and misc. sounds using my mouth), I assembled the audio, exported it, brought it and an HD version of the animation back into AfterEffects and composited the final version as you see here!
Phew!
