Description
This is a hella old drawing I used as a cover for my German ZoSan doujinshi on Animexx and I wanted to redraw it!
I think I sat 8-10 hours straight on this! It took me so damn long to finish! TT____TT The swords really wrecked me up!

hello, here from ProjectComment
I really like yaoi art with Zoro and Sanji as a couple so I stopped by to see the work.
The thing that attracted me the first time I saw the preview was the pose that I immediately thought could be interesting. Knowing the two characters of One Piece I think it works and the same goes for their expressions: Sanji smiles because he is always sure of himself and proud of his dishes while Zoro tastes without ever explicitly showing his impressions, because he would never admit that the cook kitchen well.
I admit that I don't mind your style, this lineart makes it clear and fits well with a comic book style and it also makes it much more personal than the old drawing you posted in the description. I find the color precise and I think it would look good on a color comic story, it's much more decisive than the first. The katanas are well detailed and the reflections on them are not bad, I also appreciate that light spot on Zoro's earrings.
On the characters it is also quite soft and modulated in the right places. Perhaps it could be a little more subtle in the balastra in the background and more steep on the tip of the sword sheath, since it comes more to the fore than the hilt. Regarding the bodies all in all I find them perfect if not for two details. I believe that Zoro's foot is a little small, finding it very muscular, you can see the difference. Then I think Sanji's head is a little big compared to the proportion with the shoulders. Moreover, given his position seen from behind, even his face was less of a net profile, so he turned a little more towards Zoro.

Omg thank you for your review! x333 Glad you like it!
I guess I do have to look twice over the shadowing in my work next time, bc your right. It is a bit off & could be more detailed. Maybe bc it's actually the cover for my doujinshi I didn't really mind. After all I still had to lay the title over it...
Yeah, I know. I'm not bad at anatomy, but the size of heads & feet always give me a hard time :,D

The space for the title could be there, always think of it first anyway to avoid it being crushed.
I understand you, even I sometimes make feet or hands take longer but I see that you are already at a good level, keep it up! always do a good work!

hello, here from ProjectComment
All first impression, we couldn't believe we were seeing one of our favorite couples. We have seen the previous work, very nice too, but here your style has improved, it's more personal. Congratulation!
Everything is very accurate, we can see that you have dedicated some time to them and this even just looking at the swords of Zoro, they are perfect and true to the original. We think you could just give more effect to the surrender of the ship, make the wood more experienced, looks a bit flat but the shade of light running along the surface is good.
The scene is proposed very well, the pose is really nice and romantic at the same time, you managed to interpret them very well, with their personality.
With digital you show a lot of security, this final result is good, very comics and impact. The shadows on characters are in the right place and there is consistency, the bodies are three-dimensional. Noticing now one thing, a small inconsistency could be the shadows of the ship's balustrade with the shadows of the characters and swords. Maybe we misinterpret it, but we believe that for the characters you have recreated a frontal light, so the projection behind them that hits the wall looks good, instead of the balustrade the light seems to be lateral, so the shadow appears to be parallel to it.
However we appreciate this interpretation of yours, overall it's a good job.

Hey there, thank you very much for your critique! x3
I am glad, that my improvement is somehow visible! Also... I actually have Zoro's swords at home, so I always use them as a real life reference, which is quite handy.
Actually I guess, I did want to make Zoro and Sanji pop out a bit, so I didn't care much about the wood's surface, but maybe a bit of structure would've been good, you're right.
Also I have to admit that the shadowing is indeed a bit off at some parts, so I'll look over that twice in the future! (I wanted the light to come from the upper left hand corner... maybe I still have to work an that, though..)

You're welcome !!^^
Yes, you did a beautiful drawing, so keep up a good work!
wow really!!! all 3 katana! You're lucky! We have only wado ichimonji but we hope to take the others too! (^^)b
oh yes, ths is right, certainly the background should not be raised on two characters, but just some wood grain would help with realism.
So the light comes from the top corner, ok, understand. It is not always easy to make the right shadow projection, we know it well. We went crazy at school when we studied it. But go on!!!

Hello, I'm here from ProjectComment
I looked at the comparison and looked through you doujin to see how you improved and I think it's amazing how far you've come. You captured the style of one piece really good while still bringing in your personal note. Also their facial expression has improved a lot from and gives the situation a different athmosphere.
I think you nailed the perspective and the placement of the cell-shading, the proporions look very good, the background fits the original source (one piece) and isn't distracting either. You can see that the swords took alot of time.
I don't know how you could improve this particular drawing, at the end of the day it depends on taste and what you want to display, wether you want to make it more realistic or maybe more colorful. To improve the impact of your drawing you could play around with more extrem perspectives and foreshortening because you seem to be very aware of human proportions already and that might give you a new challenge.
I hope this helps you to become even better.

Hey there & thanks for your comment!
I AM SO FLASHED THAT YOU EVEN LOOKD THROUGH THE WHOLE DOUJINSHI!!! O//////////O Omg, you really took that serious!! *__*
And thanks so much for liking it the way it turned out!!
Guess I would've come up with a more dynamic pose or construction of the cover nowadays, but I wanted it to still be recognizable, so I simply redrew the original one ^^"
But I'll remember that for future work! Thanks a lot! <3

Some times its very hard to keep the sailors scurvy free. sometimes you just have to bake them a lime cake, doll yourself up and seduce them just to get them to eat enough Vitamin C to keep them well. lol jk. nah that's not true Scurvy is crazy hard to get because it's a vitamin C deficiency that requires you would have had to either avoid vitamin C or live on a fruitless boat for about a year... Sanji is either worried about Zolo's health, Sanji got tired of getting shot down by all the ladies and started playing for the other team, or maybe the sea madness took Sanji... either way, nice picture!
