Description
This is the culmination of my geometry work... although I don't know that it will be my last. Please download zip, not the zoom jpg., There are 4 Variations of this image. You obviously won't see them if you just save the zoom image. The variations include an Orange version, as well as one without the background.
14 layers... and this is the second time I made this image... the first time I accidently saved it as a BMP before I finished and lost all the layerwork.
I used Rhino 3D and PSP 6, but it took a lot of work to put this together (even though it seems simple in design). Rhino has a pathetic rendering device, so I rendered all the parts of the central object (transparent/solid) seperately then overlayed them in PSP with a bunch of filters to make it look nice.
Background color is #B6B3AE, or R182 G179 B174
Don't kill me.

neat. the shape looks like the 'innercity' trance party logo, only more solid.
you might check out moray & povray. since pov uses mathematical definitions for circles & cubes, all shapes are razorsharp -and the rendering engine is way better (reflection/refraction!). plus, it's a snap to learn, and you can export rhino to moray if you like. (UDO - don't give the object the same name as the moray scene)

*BONK!*

very Nice work, I love the glow of the colours of the inner structure and the way it seems to be buldging out of the contrasting grey structure thats trying to hold it in.

Nice work. It reminds me a bit of some ddr creations.

If you're offering any suggestion on how to get a 3D program with those features, great... but Rhino 3D doesn't support reflections, and has very very pathetic texture support. It does have transperency, but transperency in Rhino 3D is ugly, so I didn't actually use it for this image. I basically did do the entire thing in PSP6, all that was done in Rhino was the shape.
And yes, I was refering to the zip file when I gave the background color.

what is the point of knowing the background colour?
the background isn't one straight colour so it wouldn't centre on a larger desktop of that colour anyway. and please don't tell me your'e referring to something inside the zip either...
finally, you could have done all of that in PSP alone... it's just shapes with gradients... take advantage of the features of 3D programs. reflection, transparency, specular highlights... all the things that are harder in 2D programs.
oh and you have a cool icon

Read the details. I said download the zip. There is a version (for both Orange and Blue) in the zip without the background.
