I can't comment there so I thought I'd say it here.
[link] submitted for the RIFT Colossus contest is very similar to this piece, from the shape of the tale and left rear leg to the vein pattern on the wing limbs.
I'm not sure how much was tracing and how much was just used as "inspiration", but I thought you should know, Perzo.

Well, if you ask me this really should get through... this is great concept and it's only a sketch. Dynamic look, well visible high rank of creature and it strength(not to mention that tiny back legs and fell-like wings which are essence of HoMM Inferno army). Very well designed crit I think.

What do you say? Too brutal? It doesnt seem more brutal than pictures of Tormentor or that creepy Breeder I have seen. In fact, it looks like it is kindred to the Tormentor (cause of the alien like head) so I think it fits. It is brutal, but again, not more brutal than others.
I think that the final version of pit fiend has different head and tail. Both of these versions are kind of cool.

I remember playing Heroes of Might and Magic VI-VII with my dad and my brother when I was a kid. Thanks for bringing back fond memories.

You are might confused with "Might and Magic". The latest "Might and Magic" game is IX (2002). However this is refering to the game series "Heroes of Might and Magic" which is a bit newer, the newest part is "Heroes of Might and Magic V". The sixth part, which this concept art is for, is not yet released.
