I don't really feel like this is a positive reflection on music. I look at this and see a negative reflection on people zoning out the world with their technology. The expression of the model and the main effect of the photograph really make it look that way.

She looks like she's either listening to music or has a terrible migraine. It's a nice effect nonetheless.

a image that tells you what the experience feels like, completely.

Portishead~ Threads.

I really like this, and I can definitely relate. I live in a kind of blah area & there are a lot of loud and unfriendly people around, so headphones are essential.

Shame this has so few comments for something that got a DD. I hope you receive more.

I love the feel of this piece, as it's so often true that when you are listening to music, the rest of the world becomes rather fuzzy.

Great shot! Thanks for sharing!

This is exactly how I feel when I'm listening to my music. What a wonderful way to show this feeling through art!

wess-lan [2009-01-13 00:15:47 +0000 UTC]

That's exactly me... but a girl version... haha

I was the freak in high school that would sing along to his music under his breath and everyone thought I was muttering curses or something. It was actually a little of both, haha

Great idea! and gratz!

Most sincerely,
Senior O. B.

psyviant [2009-01-12 17:44:08 +0000 UTC]

It's very nice
But I think it would look better when the effect doesn't lay over the girl that is listening to music - when only the background and the surroundings are blured. But it looks nice though.

Good Idea! but I think you shoud have used zoom blur, added some fade colors and sparks... just an idea... I'd be happy if you sent me the original picture and I'll add these effects by myself...

O-V-P [2009-01-12 09:03:24 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow! This is what bass would probably look like if it was visible! You have portrayed perfectly what music lovers feel like when listening to their soul music!

NoSpI [2009-01-12 08:40:08 +0000 UTC]

Nice. I like the radial blur effect. I always use the zoom effect.. I might try and use the spin effect a bit more from now on

HyperStrudel [2009-01-12 08:09:22 +0000 UTC]

I don't know, it seems like a regular black-and-white photo with a Photoshop radial filter slapped on top of it. Nothing that great.

Jostikas In reply to HyperStrudel [2009-01-13 07:23:19 +0000 UTC]

...Who's talking about technique? Any fool can 'shop a picture, not everyone knows what to do with the skill. I for one love it

i agree, but i think it's in the wrong category. should be in photomanipulation

Very true, and just a random little tidbit, but shenny-lee i like your quote in your signature.

shenny-lee In reply to farnick [2009-01-13 16:04:55 +0000 UTC]

it's a lyric from an Against Me! song.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Oytis-Elie In reply to shenny-lee [2009-01-13 01:29:20 +0000 UTC]

this effect can be achieved without manipulation

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jostikas In reply to Oytis-Elie [2009-01-13 07:33:48 +0000 UTC]

Not like this, IMHO. There would be more traces on the face, plus, the shot would require some setup and a longer exposure, making the earphone wires more blurred. And I can't really imagine a photo filter that would give such an effect optically. Just my opinion though, I'm no pro.
