Good for you! No this one is my personal camera. They were using Lindhof, now we have 60 Sinar F1 for architecture and scheinflug. With the new tilt-shift lenses for our digital DSLR, were are using the 4x5 much less than before.

Yap. Here in Ottawa B&W 4x5 sheet commercial processing cost $3.60.

How did the bird know the camera was masquerading as a bird feeder?

Great capture by the way.

MichelLalonde In reply to Twainwall [2012-10-09 15:54:04 +0000 UTC]

Chickadee are so curious that they were already on the camera as I was setting it up. Afterward, it's the chickadee that attracts the other birds and the squirrels to it.

Old SpeedGraphic...it's apparently in great condition for something that's "Old"!
Shows how good the owner is with it. >wO

Don't wanna risk the safety of such a beautiful antique camera again.
Again, at least both you and the camera are okay.

Nullcast In reply to Sunnycat17 [2012-10-09 15:46:45 +0000 UTC]

I'd hazard a guess that at this point any old camera that is still useful is kept in working condition or promptly recycled into repair parts. This definitely includes Speed and Crown graphics as digital can't beat large format yet, though it's surpassed 35mm and is encroaching on medium format.

MichelLalonde In reply to Nullcast [2012-10-09 15:57:48 +0000 UTC]

We still teach 4x5 format to our students in their first photography semester. Too bad we got rid of our darkrooms. Film is process outside than scan.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nullcast In reply to MichelLalonde [2012-10-10 00:36:35 +0000 UTC]

You don't really need a darkroom to process B&W, just a black bag (to do the changeover from can to can), color on the other hand is so temperature sensitive it's worth having an outside expert do it. And it's usually easier to get good color results with scanning too. I should know, I do it.

MichelLalonde In reply to Nullcast [2012-10-10 01:37:28 +0000 UTC]

Ah! I still use my Doran 4x5 daylight dev. tank and yes we still have some students that will process their films and sheets.
