I've got a project in the back of my mind to build a tempering bath using an Arduino, relays, thermistor, and one of those immersion heaters you heat a cup of water with for tea. That would make color at home feasible without paying a grand or three to Jobo. (I HATE the "photography tax"!)

I was using a submersible aquarium heater at home in the 70's. The real problem is to process and use all the chemicals within 2 weeks after dilution before they get oxidized. Good luck.
BTW, before C-41 process, C-22 was done at room temperature and E-6 needs exact temperature for both dev. stages.

Which is why I wasn't planning on using an aquarium heater: they don't usually go to the 100f that E-6 and C-41 run at (and probably won't reach the precision you'd want for E-6, and good c-41 is disappearing, oh 160s where art thou?). The 2 weeks is a little disconcerting, I used to hear you could extend the life if you used canned air or co2 to displace the air in the bottles and prevent oxidation.

My solution was to use marble to bring the solution to the rim before closing it. The big film processors are using nitrogen.
